V2BlastSalaam alaikum, Islam Stack Exchange community! I'm V2Blast, a Community Manager here at Stack Exchange; I'm also working with the design team on the site themes project alongside Catija. I first want to thank you for your patience and apologize that it's taken so long to get back to you all afte...

the community's general disinclination to downvote is only going to harm the site in the long term, for exactly this reason.

This is a site for questions and answers about Islam, not partisan rhetoric on Middle Eastern politics. Messages discriminating against any specific ethnic group or nationality will be deleted on sight. Respect others, treat them as you would like to be treated, or go somewhere else.

@UmH Eid Mubarak as well!

A debate is fine so long as it's constructive. If both sides are only interested in proving the other wrong, you're not going to get very far.

Does really nobody out of the community care about the blog announcement?
Nov 25, 2015 01:35
Fun fact: Most Islamic perspectives are not Qur'an-only.

We are not a site for anti-Israel or anti-USA or anti-anything rhetoric.

That is unfortunate. There are few Shi'a members here. They are free to ask their questions and post their answers. However, they feel that they are not free to voice their opinions here. I think it might be due to misconception because they are few in number here. Moreover, that proposal includes politics of Iran, Hezbollah. This site is only about Islam, no politics or anything. And since such questions get closed, some Shi'a members who want to ask them are not happy.

...an atheist and a Christian just discussed Jewish law in a chat room for Islam. Awesome. :P

and allowing any sort of "Muslims-only" policy would just be untenable.

In short: Do not flag because you are offended. If so, then notify the chat owner. Or moderators of your site.

well, I haven't read the link yet, but imo, the burden of proof is on whoever asserts a belief and wants it prevail against those who don't! So if you think there's a God and want every else to believe it, then the burden is on you! Or similarly, if an atheist wants to reject and eradicate the belief in God, then he is the one who has to back up his disbelief! So really there's no "default position!"

Q: Removing some tags

GigiliGoing through tags, I noticed there are some tags that don't make much sense. I think we should list them here so that we can avoid using them and they'll be automatically deleted. I'll post a community wiki answer and everyone can edit it to add and remove tags.

@Islam.SE what do you folks think about a Languages site on codidact? i too wanted an arabic site on se, but apparently its area51 proposals haven't been successful, so if this site becomes realised on codidact, there would be a place for arabic questions
Jul 14, 2015 18:37
Arabic.SE just went to private beta.

If you disagree with any decision made by the community, which includes the mods, take it to Islam Meta, @masfenix . Chat is not a good place for such discussions for plenty of reasons while meta is the most appropriate. I also suggest you take time to go through some relevant meta discussions. And try to make a compelling and cogent argument.

Q: Inviting experts

AnsariWe're getting a lot of great questions now alhamdulillah. But we need experts to answer them! Whenever you see a question and you know someone who is knowledgeable and can answer it, send the question to them. This is a template that I use (after greetings and a short personal message): I'm t...

yeah, i'm disinclined toward that path, since we already have significant problems with rules-lawyering. more rules won't actually help that.

Political discussion is allowed in this chatroom on the condition that everyone involved is willing to play nicely.

@G.Bach My actual words were that the community was responsible for that. There's no reason to explicitly bring moderators into the picture at all unless the tools you all have at your disposal are somehow unsuited to the task.

"We are a secular site studying the topic of Islam" that's one piece of despotic policy by SE admins which a lot o muslims can not just accept!

@TRiG if you don't believe in god then you must answer the basic questions such as "how does life/universe originate?","what will happen after death?". Certainly you don't know about it, just like everybody else in the world. But books such as quran, bible, torah answered these questions, 1. god created life/universe 2. there is a judgement day after death, where people who acted rightly got heaven others got hell.
