He has a problem, which he wants to solve. So he comes up with a solution and asks us how to do his solution. His solution is implicitly flawed, but he doesn't know that. I think its sort of on us to figure out what his question is and help him that way

Q: What Tower Defense games are available for the PC?

Ivo FlipseI like playing strategic/puzzle games and now I'm looking for a good Tower Defense game for the PC. Doesn't matter if it's Flash-based or if I can buy it somewhere. Any suggestions? Edit by Gnoupi: To keep things clear, please propose only one game per answer, and don't duplicate the proposi...

Q: What are some good open-source games?

AndrewBecause I'd like to try some more open-source games. I know of many but I'd like modern open-source games (games actively developed recently)

Q: What games offer a good co-op multiplayer experience?

Paolo BergantinoI am not really a big fan of playing anything that is not with at least one other human being. For this reason most of the games I've ever really loved are FPS that you can play online with/against others. One thing that has always surprised me is how few games actually let you play their "story...

and if the site is filled with "fun" questions, I doubt it would be deemed a useful site

If something like that was to be asked on SO now, regardless of the homey feeling it would be closed

Aug 4, 2010 08:44
I actually think they lack the specificity. The original "class" questions were just: "How do I level a Priest?" This is akin to asking "How do I program in C?" Its a bad question. On the other hand if they had asked, "What is the formula for spirit based mana regen in WotLK?" it probably would have received a much more positive response.
Aug 4, 2010 06:42
I think they encourage low quality in the questions being asked

@Oak - recommendations are not the "best thing to come out of the site". You can find recommendations of games everywhere. However, I agree that specific questions about a particular type of game should be left open. Like this one:

Anyway, I didn't vote. At the moment, I vote to close questions that are really broad. So I voted to close "what games are there for linux", but didn't vote "horror FPSs"

Jul 16, 2010 01:31
@juan Your comment on the topic of Gaming is right, if we leave them a little room now for discussion, it's not going to be around in a couple of months to even tidy up

it's a discussion of the site itself
