It's worth noting that the meta question for the contest is running +16 / -3. At 0xFF views, that's a pretty good show of support on meta. I have flagged the meta Q to receive the featured tag so it can pick up additional views and feedback.

thoughts on borrowed: rewarding for activity prior to the contest starting doesn't seem like an inclusive way to grow the site. It's too easily misconstrued as the contest organizers merely rewarding someone they like. On the one hand, it is good to recognize the individual contributions to the community, but I don't think that making it part of the contest would encourage sustained behavior. IMO, the opportunity of hurt feelings outweighs potential benefits.
