We were planning another 18miles this Friday but are going to look for a 10mile walk instead. Try and do about 3 10mile hikes before the end of May .... the 28ish miles of the 3 Peaks challenge is looming (If we end up doing it!)

Metaltech (met'l tek) are a three piece Scottish metal/techno/rock/industrial dance music band from Edinburgh. They consist of Erik Tricity (Erik Grieve) performing vocals, rhythm guitar, programming and production, Lord Thrapston Flagellator, pronounced fla-jella-tor (Emmett Christie) playing bass guitar and the Insidious Doktor Mayhem (Rory Alsop) providing lead guitar and pyrotechnics. Their music is an amalgamation of rock/metal guitars, funk/slap bass, synthesizers, techno inspired programmed drums and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Metaltech are renowned for their theatrical performances and over...

@Sue we can always uses pictures from elsewhere on the internet as long as the site they are on doesn't explicitly disallow it, and as long as we offer a link/URL/attribution. Be aware that even without an explicit disallow statement, sites can order us to remove content that they own, but they do that directly to SE. We aren't arbiters of copyright - we just need to ensure attribution

See how similar they are! Fascinating, isn't it? One of the many reasons I love birds. There's so much to learn that isn't what we think it was.

@anderas I agree with this, and your other comment. Sadly, I think your question about the snack on the rock would get high votes, lots of views, and at least 10 answers! You should post it and see! With all due respect to the people that are working hard to keep the question/answer rate up, I think we, myself included of course, are treading a fine line where quality's concerned.

Maybe, but IIRC, when my helmet rolled off a rock the first time, my reaction was more like "maybe I should have put it with the curved side up", and not "hmm, let me search outdoors.SE for a better way" ;-)

Some questions seem a bit basic to me: outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/15735/… . Maybe I should post a question on how to put a snack (e.g. an apple) on a rock so that it doesn't roll off?

@Sue no problem, I wish horse boarding had been a sport when I had horses though! It's like kite boarding but the board rider gets pulled along by a horse+rider instead! I also may get to teach my niece how to ride... Super excited for that.

@Liam No problem, as long as the question gets at least one answer, everything is alright or should I say everything in it's right place ;)

But I love flying gliders - they are disconnected enough that I don't worry about the ground (it is so far away, after all)

@Liam I'd never heard of either - I feel like there must be so much more in climbing that I just have no visibility of. Questions like these are great for making me go off and google :-)

@WedaPashi the question was quite broad in terms of activity. But go for the one which suits best? Or leave without an accepted answer a while longer? Either way it was a good question!

@Aravona Stuck between four walls for the time being. Thinking of the proverb I saw written at near Torsvåg, Vannøya, Troms, Norway: "Hvorfor sitte inne når alt håp er ute?". I have found the answer. €$£

@WedaPashi -- By example, the comment you recently flagged is one I consider "good positive feedback", moreso than "too chatty". I hope that helps clarify my perspective on it all :)

@Liam lol - and base camp is well understood by all outdoors folks, whether or not they are real mountaineers (which I definitely am not)

It really upset my senior partner - his £90k Porsche was slower to 100mph than my <£20k car. And he could only just fit in a set of golf clubs, whereas I could fit a family of 5, tents, climbing gear, a wakeboard etc
