I suppose that's why we have 44 questions tagged bears and SO has 20,144 tagged SSL (which is what https is about). There just aren't 20,144 questions to ask about bears.
@CharlieBrumbaugh I enjoy it the way it is and think I might not participate as regularly if they are more often because it takes me significant time to find and select the photos, but this is only my opinion and not necessarily a reason not to do it. Also most people will likely try to submit as early as possible to get more votes, so naturally there might be less participation later on.
@Ricketyship Hi! You're right, I got silly about a starring problem I was having a few weeks ago, and now we have a lot of fun stars of starred comments!
@Sue yes - one of the reasons we then have to say "any more comments will be deleted" - there is a feature request to try and sort it...but I understand it is low low priority
@Sue We have to agree to disagree. I'm not horrified by slightly altering the focus of a off-topic Q if it makes it a Q that can be answered responsibly. I am much less impressed by the "rules" than some people. I don't regard Jeff as Moses or the Founding Fathers. The US Constitutions has been amended 29 times. If we, the users, cannot help our site evolve, I am not interested in it. In the med Q, I advised him to go to a doc sooner than ASAP.
For example, I took offense at Olin's comment that "What belay device is the best?" should be closed. In general "what X is the best?" is not always opinionated, as there can be situations where there is a best X. And even if it is in that case, he even admitted that a tweak of the question could make it a good question... so why not just do it!?!? If you admit that it just doesn't meet the wording you'd like to see to consider it good for SE, then just help people instead of hurt them!
@Liam yup, it didn't have a lid on and wasn't in the correct part of the door, 8 pint bottle, so it just fell out and went everywhere. I'm pretty sure it was out to get me.
@RussellSteen Totally agree on that - but SE (at least TGO, I don't know the rest well) has a very good culture compared to the usual online forum. It is very factual and one does actually speak with each other not only at each other. That's one thing I really like about it.
@Ricketyship Everyone uses the chat differently - for ages it was just @RoryAlsop, @Liam, myself and a few others talking anything because it was barely used.
