Our ad should be the best we can do as a community, not as individuals.

Plenty of other questions here and elsewhere have titles that aren't phrased as a question. A short title is useful

For use of images, you have to bear in mind that just because someone marks an image as CC-BY-SA doesn't mean it is. Not everything on deviantart is really the license it claims to be, as anyone can upload a near identical copy of a copyright image.

@TimB You have no evidence to support the claim that I can't visualize 4 dimensions!

Personally I think there's nothing wrong with phrasing a title so it's catchy... it's when you're inventing questions just for the title I think it's playing the system a little :)

You see, you could have been clever there.
Oct 7, 2014 14:28

Your question has been kicking my ass though - erosion is so much harder than just forming landmasses

Q: How can we promote this site?

DonyorMEvery site needs to be able to promote itself to people who will be interested in the content of the site. In fact, promoting sites is one of the The 7 Essential Meta Questions of Every Beta. So here we go! Everyone thinking about this should read: A Recipe to Promote your Site. That blog post h...

Q: Is the word "slut" welcome in our community?

githubphagocyteThis answer makes a reasonable explanation but I have downvoted it for the use of the word "slut" in its sexual analogy to explain carbon chemistry. My objection is not to the use of promiscuity as an analogy, but to the use of the word "slut" to indicate it. Promiscuity is not inherently good or...

The look is the same as looking through a cubic lattice
Oct 4, 2014 19:32
@ivy_lynx It's a natural result of living in a 3d cube where the edges are wrapped in the normal computer game sense. I've seen it used once in a short story by Greg Egan (who I strongly recommend) but I don't know of a name for it.

Acceptance has nothing to do with quality, and everything to do with successful solutions. Let the up/down voting sort out good and bad.

question has been protected though, should cut down the junk a bit
Oct 2, 2014 14:41
@overactor I haven't looked at that particular question, but I think we should do what we can to encourage science-based answers, particularly to questions that dip into sciences.
