@KitFox - Maybe there's an idea for a future writers chat in this question - maybe an exercise playing with tense and grammatical persons could be a good one. Writing an entire paragraph in future tense, and in second person could be fun. "You will open the door, after which you'll notice that there's a gargoyle dancing on the table." Etc.

I'm looking for some kind of markdown-using free text-editing program that handles stuff like paragraph breaks as "abstract entities," that are "compiled" into a txt/mkd file either writing them as indents or double line breaks. i suppose they would be written in by the user as either.

to rephrase so that it makes sense: something that has content 100% entirely separate from how it looks. content with 'directives' like "use italics here" or "paragraph break" is put in, parameters are set and an output file, txt or markdown, comes out with all the specifics. perhaps even html.

@AdCaudle Absolutely it would be helpful. I know the site looks like it's mostly about fiction, but we encourage questions about screenwriting as well as tech writing, poetry, and more. Please feel free to participate and don't hesitate to post here or in meta if you have questions.

Q: Writing challenge - test run! April 20, 2017 - May 11

MithrandirOver on this post, it was discussed whether or not we should have writing challenges on Meta. The result: we give it a try, and see how it works. That's the point of this post! Here's how this will work: The plan was for there to be a (optional, I think) prompt, to help inspire you to write. ...

Writing falls into that wonderful category of being both an art and a science. The structure and format is very important to clarify and ensure the proper transition of thoughts from one person to another
