Problems leaving chat room

for some reason, I cannot leave the "Statics" chat room

my user is stuck in there

Did you click "leave"? Or the little upward arrow next to the chat room name (when you're in another room)?

Or both?

What about closing the browser?

I havent tried closing the browser yet

I've done those other two things, multiple times

hmm, no luck. but now that I think about it, it usually takes longer to update chat logins than I can afford to close my browser for

Weird... well, you could try at least closing any tabs in which you have SE chat sites open and leaving them closed for a while. But I'll see if I can grab someone with higher-level access to figure out what's going on.

can mod kick people form rooms? you can kick me from Statics if you want

but don't get yourself stuck in there too :)

It's not a big deal, of course. It's not preventing me from doing anything.

@ColinK Already checked, I don't think I can. I can suspend you from the whole of SE chat for a certain amount of time but I'm not sure if that would help

I'll look into it. I figure if I get stuck in there too then it's one more person who can reproduce the problem.

my guess is that the room itself is bugged and the server isn't updating it's status

Are you sure you don't have SE chat open in another tab, or on another computer, or something?

and yeah, I noticed I didn't ever leave here. I even tried logging out of everything and clearing cookies and restarting firefox

so I logged out of everything using the logout buttons on the sites. cleared cookies, restarted fireefox, and navigated back to phy.SE

lol

When I first got to the site, not yet logged in, I saw this chat and Statics. Statics was empty, only you were in here

instantly when I logged in, I was in both chats

so it's not on my end. The server believes that being in that chat is an intrinsic property of my user

like spin or charge

I think we have to pass this off to a higher-up, I'm not sure there's anything else I can do, and in any case it's clear that the system is messed up somehow
