Just don't forget to be mean to anyone who is mean to you, and you'll do fine.
I am lovely to everyone
I'm not good at being mean with improv, if I'm going to be mean, I want to plan ahead... So I'm usually passively aggressive >_>
No, the best way to be mean is to be in-your-face. Passive aggression just comes off as annoying. You want anyone who tries to say anything mean to you to end up in tears before you're halfway done. Then they'll think twice about being mean to someone as mean as you again.
People are rarely mean to me, so I don't really have that much experience. There's one guy on my teamspeak who is mean sometimes, but he's mean to everyone and seems quite experienced at being mean, whenever I try to be mean to him, he either ignores it outright or is even meaner back at me, no point in trying, as it's not in my nature, but it apparently is in his
People aren't mean to me because they've learned to not be mean to me. It doesn't work well for them when they try.

With me, people I work with are not mean to be and have not been ever, the one guy on teamspeak is ridiculed when he is mean, but I guess he just got used to it and ignores it now, I wonder how (and if) he'd be stopped, lol

Q: Luffy, Zorro & Sanji strength comparison

BBallBoyWe all read a lot about who is stronger, Luffy or Zorro and how close their strenght is. I ask myself where does this come from? Did they fight once against the same enemy? And why doesn't Sanji come up in this talks about who is the strongest? if you look at their bounty, Luffy is obviously the...

He usually makes 'below-the-belt' remarks, making it seem as if he's not directing them at you, but you (and probably the others) know he is, but it's hard to counter it or not be affected by it
And he's quite 'good' at it, sadly, knows just what to say to get under your skin
Try countering his meanness by kidnapping his family members. That's a sufficiently mean thing to get him to respect you.
Something like, if you forget something, he'll say "Yeah, I guess some people just don't care about their friends", even if it has nothing to do with him, per se

@LoganM I think I've heard that before? :P
@Taisho Ohh :3
I just don't talk to mean people
problem solved
It's hard to not talk to him, since he's on teamspeak daily and he's a friend of friends of mine on teamspeak
He's just particularly harsh to me
I have had him on ignore for a full month at some point, but conversations get very awkward when you can't hear one of the people in a conversation
Also, look into background. Find former acquaintances and ask them if there's anything he's particularly embarrassed by or ashamed of. Then every time he's mean, casually bring it up, ideally in front of as many other people as possible. A retort like "well at least I have more than 26 hairs on my head" will usually stop the meanness in one go if he doesn't like his baldness being pointed out. If you dig up real dirt, you can try blackmail, but that's not usually necessary.

Though I must say that was nice
Dec 19, 2014 13:39
@LoganM Hahaha, I would never have thought of something like that, I don't think I'd have the guts to go that far O_o
I've thought of just not reacting whenever he says something mean, I'll try to more actively do that and see if that has any result, he seems to thrive on responses he gets from saying something mean
@AsadaShino Don't stop there! Start spoofing emails from HR to this guy telling him that his hygiene is unacceptable. Make fake maintenance reports that will kick him out of his office for hours. Track his restroom activities, and then set up a triggered stink-bomb in his favorite stall, and activate it when he goes in.
@LoganM He doesn't have a job, hahaha
You need this guy to know that you're the boss when it comes to meanness, and that there's no meaner person than you.
Nor would he ever work where I work, I don't think he's finished college
He lives off wellfare and is apparently proud of it
If you're nice to him, he'll think that means you're okay with him being mean to you. Mean people only understand meanness.
@AsadaShino That seems exploitable.
Anyway, the lesson here is that the only person who is free from all mean people is the meanest person in the world. If you want to avoid meanness, just become the meanest person ever, and everyone else will be nice to you. It's a very simple plan and I don't know why more people don't follow it.

because being mean is mean
Yes, that's the point.

I really have to get back to work :/
Don't forget the virtues of meanness though
@LoganM Why would others be nice to you if you are mean to them?
@AsadaShino Were you paying attention? If they're mean to you, you'll be meaner back to them. So they have to be nice to you.
@LoganM is a Yakuza
@LoganM I just can't imagine people would want to be nice to you or even interact with you, if you are mean to everyone
I guarantee you if you kidnap their children, they'll do anything to get them back, even be nice.

O_o
I see...
It's actually a foolproof strategy.
I'll just stay nice then and hope to not meet too many mean people ._.
have it your way
I don't want to meet @LoganM irl ever
he will be mean to me :(
Only if you were mean to me first
or I felt like it
Dec 19, 2014 14:08
Ohh :3
In any case, I should say that you don't need to be mean in general, only to mean people. Mean people are usually mean because they have low self-esteem. If you're mean enough back at them, they transition from being mean to avoiding you or being reclusive, and eventually to submissiveness. If you have a high self-esteem, you can brazenly be mean back at them until they crack. It's a very easy way to deal with such people.
@LoganM I see O_o I don't know about my self-esteem, I guess it's okay xD
If you don't know about your self-esteem, it's probably not especially high.
Yeah, I thought that too as I pressed Enter xD
Dec 19, 2014 14:18
I have high self-esteem. I know because I am confident in my self-esteem.
My self-esteem is meh and I'm usually quite modest
I dunno, I think if you don't think about your self-esteem it's probably good
rather than getting an inflated ego
you would also think about it a lot if you had very low self-esteem
An inflated ego is a different issue. That can also lead to meanness, but typically only unintentionally because the person has no clue what anyone else thinks. Deliberate meanness is a product of low self-esteem.
Wanting to bring people down to your level, to make yourself feel better, type?
Yeah I don't understand their reasoning. It's illogical. But there's a perfectly logical way to deal with them, which is just to bully them until they cry. So I don't worry about it.
Dec 19, 2014 14:24
:(
but then you are the mean person
it is not nice to be mean
jesus wasnt mean
Yes, but logical meanness is optimal behavior for interpersonal interaction in certain situations.
Not all the time, perhaps, and it isn't particularly nice to be mean, but it is efficient.
hitler was efficient
and also mean
look where that got him
Lol
Not sure if serious
Unless you are being seriously threatened I think there is no need to be mean
@AsadaShino :3 not serious
@ToshinouKyouko xD

Q: Who's the strongest Genei Ryodan members in Hunter X Hunter?

HalphasWe all knew that Phantom Troupe/Spiders is a world-renowned gang of thieves holding the title of an A-Class Bounties organization, and all their Nen Powers are almost equal to each other. However, there is only one member that can surpass all members in Genei Ryodan, except for Chrollo Lucilfer b...

I do think I sometimes am getting to the guy that's mean to me, because he starts throwing empty threats at me "want me to punch you?", now that I think of it, that's pretty much him saying he doesn't know what to say to counter my remark and has to resort to violence to sort it out, I guess that's a victory in itself :P
@Sakamoto Doesn't read like a question to me...
Most habitually mean people need some mental help. Perhaps the nice thing to do would be to try to give it to them. But I'm not a trained mental health professional, and I have no business trying to convince such people to seek help. The best I can do is to optimize my interactions with them.
Being mean is a defense mechanism for them, and by breaking it, there's a chance they may realize their own weakness and seek help. That's not my primary goal, which is just to be done with them, but it is certainly possible, and would really be a pretty nice thing to do.
Also, if we're making the Jesus vs Hitler analogy, let's not forget that Hitler lived 23 years longer than Jesus.

Anyway, I'm done extolling the virtues of being mean to those who are mean. Time to get back to work.
