@MadaraUchiha FB/G+ contents? or do you have something else in mind?
@JNat Alright, begin
Somebody ask the meta question about meta tags. I'll answer with a summary.
@MadaraUchiha we should do one of these at each time, so that our attention is more focused
but basically, we need to improve contents in our Facebook and Google+ pages
both to get more followers and more interested passer-bys
OK, any ideas?
First, I think we need more activity in the G+ account. Last message was 8 days ago.
Feb 16, 2013 18:35
@Eric so far, the pages have not had any content updates, other than the pokemon question
Correct.
I just made it on. Sorry for being late.
@MadaraUchiha firstly, anyone here that has facebook/goole+ should follow us there
I think we should nominate a manager for the FB and G+ pages.
@MadaraUchiha that's a good idea
Feb 16, 2013 18:36
Someone with a bit more free time than us (me?), who's well versed in a lot of anime, and is capable of posting interesting stuff
@MadaraUchiha also someone that can easily use these sites (I'm new in both)
@Mysticial No, they ask the comm team for burnination. Or they put up a meta post and crowdsource the power of meta to manually burninate
@Manishearth ah that's good to know
I have free time, I'm just limited to only a few anime in experience. But I'm very active on G+ (I pretty much spend 1-2 hours a day on there, browsing interesting things).
@MadaraUchiha a note: if you're running an FB/G+ page, be sure to make it visibly unofficial
Feb 16, 2013 18:38
@Manishearth We know, we've been there already :)
ah good
@MadaraUchiha maybe we should make a meta post asking for nominations on this, and then discuss it on our next meeting
How do you spread on social media right now ? just posting messages look at this question know the answer come here ?
@Dimitrimx We currently don't have a very developed social spread.
@MadaraUchiha An idea: why don't you guys start a community project? Many sites are doing it (for example, Raspberry Pi has some of its community members collaborating and writing something-or-the-other). You guys have a rather active chat, utilize that :) For example, collaborate and make some anime. Or something :)

Twitter could be a good potentional. Loads of people ask questions about anime as a tweet. Maybe refer people to a page that answers the question they asked ?
@Dimitrimx we cannot manage our twitter account
right @MadaraUchiha?
@JNat We can start an unofficial one though
@JNat you can actually, later on. Gaming does it. You need to request it and show that you have enough members dedicated to keeping it alive.
@MadaraUchiha and have it linked to the official one, ok
Feb 16, 2013 18:42
one of the many sample's
@MadaraUchiha unofficial-all-the-things.gif
@Manishearth That idea could work, but making an anime or even a manga requires skills not many of us have.
@MadaraUchiha true
that particular one was just an idea
One community we haven't tapped is deviantArt. But I don't even know how we'd tackle that.
scanlations is another one (dunno how legal that is)
Feb 16, 2013 18:43
I have it noted, however. We'll discuss it later (or in the next chat cast)
@Eric What do we have in common with them?
Ping me when we get onto the topic of copyright.
@MadaraUchiha Little in terms of content, but obviously a lot of anime fanatics will hang out there.
@Mysticial ok
I'm currently typing up the meta tag SEO summary. So I won't be looking here.
@Eric Be ...careful when "tackling" communities.. You may end up lowering the quality of your site in favor of quantity. Reddit can be...dangerous at times
But a small nudge never hurt
Feb 16, 2013 18:47
@Manishearth Agreed. But not all communities are created equal, after all. :)
shouldn't we first focus on the pages we already have first?
Yes, we should
@JNat yep
@JNat Yes. It was probably a little off-topic of me.
Feb 16, 2013 18:48
@MadaraUchiha AnnaLear recommended we post a meta before they actually take action so I made one outlining most of what we discussed.
ok, so about the managers, how do we choose/elect them?
@Krazer OK
@JNat I say a featured meta-post
Much like the pro-temp nominations
@MadaraUchiha I agree
I'd agree on that
Agreed also.
Feb 16, 2013 18:50
and then we choose and debate it next session?
Yes
or do we simply let the voting talk?
@Manishearth If you think Reddit may be scary, you'd love to know that we have 4chan as a possibility too. :P
We should at least debate how we plan to manage theses sites
A discussion would not hurt, so I'd have no problem doing that in addition to considering the vote count of each nomination.
Feb 16, 2013 18:51
Yes
Our model should be this, interesting questions should be posted here and there
But much more importantly is the stuff that'll catch the eye of people
Interesting stuff, anime/manga news, releases, funny stuff
Something people would want to follow.
@MadaraUchiha like eating Pokemon xD
@MadaraUchiha yes, that is more important
@MadaraUchiha Emphasis on "funny stuff". This is the internet, after all.
Exactly like eating Pokemon.
@Mysticial runs away
Feb 16, 2013 18:53
Funny/shocking stuff attracts the most people.
@Dimitrimx but not too shocking
@Krazer has to stay Q/A not a horror show :)
Everything in measure. The Stack Exchange policy is that users should be 13+
@Eric The problem is that we have maybe a dozen posts that are funny. We'd run out quickly if we only post those.
@Dimitrimx too shocking and it attracts even more people, except they don't know that they're being attracted (think goatse)
Feb 16, 2013 18:55
@MadaraUchiha 13+ for stack but anime/manga attracts people under that age aswel.
@LoganM That's right. Not only those, of course, but the Pokemon question caught quite a few eyes.
@LoganM currently we need to hook as many as we can so ppl at least know we are out there
And there will be more funny questions. I still see funny questions come up on SO now and then. (Uncatchable ChuckNorrisException was my favorite, I think.)
@Dimitrimx If they lie about their age to use the site, that isn't our problem. But anyway, FB and G+ are both 13+ too IIRC.
We cannot force people to join us.
But we need to make people aware of our existance
Feb 16, 2013 18:58
Reddit and 4chan is a great place to make people are aware of our existence. :P
@MadaraUchiha Not just that, though. We don't want to appear as a community of stiffs that don't have any humor or fun at all. People wouldn't want to join that.
2
maybe poke ourselfs into a Yahoo question ?
@Mysticial Indeed, but we need to be careful with who do we attract.
@MadaraUchiha Hence the ":P".
Uh... I didn't realize Krazer already made the meta post.
Can someone merge mine into it?
Or the other way, doesn't matter.
@Mysticial Don't worry about it.
Feb 16, 2013 19:00
I think Krazer's question could be made an "answer" to your post.
@Dimitrimx If you can find open Yahoo questions about anime, that's a good way to do it. They'll usually generate a few clicks through to the source. It's better if we already have the answer here, but if not, we can use that as a way to generate more seeding questions as well.
@LoganM They sometimes have open posts like "Were can i find good answers to anime related questions". Should keep an eye out for those.

@Dimitrimx Those are gold
They appear first on Google, and a link back to us there is priceless
@MadaraUchiha They appear pretty often, if we can get some people to watch out on those site's for those kinda questions it could be a gold mine.
Feb 16, 2013 19:04
There's also wiki.answers.com
But I think Yahoo will benefit us more
OK so let's wrap it up
@MadaraUchiha a meta post for nominations of FB and G+ pages will be made
We have agreed that we should nominate managers for our unofficial pages on Facebook and Google+, a meta post will be issued.
We also need to keep an eye out for Yahoo questions which can be linked back to us.
