Time has come. Welcome to the "Answer the unanswered" session!
Here we go .. 192 unanswered questions right now.
I have some which look like they need only converting of existing solutions in answers or question to actual answers:

Q: How to convert text in a PDF file from fonts/text to outlines?

ronszonI have PDF graphic in which I would like to have fonts removed. All other properties of the file should remain (such as size, etc). The output file should be in PDF as well. The text itself should be converted to outlines. Can I do it at the moment of including the PDF figure in pdftex document?...

user3129I've been a relatively long-time user of TeXnicCenter, and whenever I recompiled a tex file to PDF and viewed the output in that program, I would get an updated version of the PDF that was already open. I started using Kile and realized that whenever I tried doing the same thing, Kile would ope...

@GonzaloMedina Everyone comes up with questions and states what should be done about them. (Paste the question link into a sepaate "chat post".)
@TorbjornT Definitely.

@egreg Done.
@GonzaloMedina Welcome to the party, Gonzalo! We bring up questions that have no answers and discuss what we could do with them - a quick answer, convert a comment to an answer, upvote an existing question, close, etc. :-)

@PaŭloEbermann @lockstep Thanks.
This one seems a not well defined question

Q: Lineno \internallinenumbers - how to make a line number label within a figure?

axel22This concerns the "lineno" package. The \linelabel directive works within the ordinary linenumbers environment. How to create a line number label within a internallinenumbers environment to be able to reference a line number? I need this to be able to refer to a line in the pseudocode in a figure...

Q: landscape page and list of tables

sil_leuI have a landscape page in a twosided portrait report. It works fine and the pdf looks ok. The issue pops up at the List of Tables where the landscape page appears to be at page 72 which is correct, but the link jumps to 73. Any way to solve this issue? Thanks,

@lockstep voted as "too localized"
@PaŭloEbermann Hi, it's kind of a duplicate. I answered his other question (he's interested in Stata nor R) and he said in a comment he would try it and get back to me, but hasn't yet. That one could do with at least an upvote to get it off the list.
@egreg As I understand, it remarks that \linelabel refers to the line number given by the linenumbers environment instead of the internallinenumbers environment, and asks how to get a label which allows referring to this second line number.

Q: AucTeX extension for TikZ

user4011Is there an AucTeX extension which supports the TikZ syntax and that one of the tkz-collection as well? A: Create arbitrary sorting of index entries

RaphinkThe bibleref package has a feature that does that for Bible books (which are sorted by Bible order usually). There's two suggested ways. The native way inserts numbers before the entry, so the index looks like: \indexentry{01\relax @\BRbooktitlestyle {\BRbookof Gen\`ese}!001:026@\BRchapterstyle...

Does my answer need to be more precise?
@AlanMunn From the timing, I understand that the first one was solved, and then he asked the second one.
@PaŭloEbermann That might be right. In which case then closing the installation one as a duplicate makes perfect sense.
@PauloCereda I've asked Ben Lerner to make an answer from his comment
@lockstep voted as "too localized"

@egreg great! :)
@Raphink If you can expand it, do. I upvoted it anyway.
Unfortunately I can't participate more tonight. I'm off to a concert.
ok. Expanding it requires some research :)
@AlanMunn Huh. I would understand "too localized", but the installation question it is clearly a different one than the formatting one.
@AlanMunn Enjoy!
Oct 1, 2011 21:17
@Raphink That's what we're paid for. :)
@AlanMunn Have fun!
@AlanMunn: your excuse is too localized, too.
@egreg: did I miss something when I signed up? ;)
@AlanMunn Or do you mean duplicate to the "how do I install a package in MikTeX"? Then, yes.

Q: How to fix the location of tables when they're imported with \input?

PetterI'm using MiKTeX and TexMaker 2.2.2. Using the latabstat command in Stata I create small tex files of some tables. They look like: \begin{table}[htbp]\centering \begin{tabular} (table content) \end{tabular} \end{table} When I compile my main document \begin{document} \input{tablefromstata} ...

@JosephWright Okay, then let's close it as a duplicate.

@PaŭloEbermann I've added a "community wiki" answer
Just wanted to say "Good luck" for the unanswered session. After last night's "chat" session, I'm too exhausted to stick around.
@AndrewStacey No problem
(I did have one thought: on that "AucTeX for TikZ", I've been deliberately not voting on that one - though it's top of the list of unanswereds in my "tags" - since it sounds like it would be a nice thing for AucTeX users to have so having the question, with all those upvotes, is a way of advertising the need.)
Oct 1, 2011 21:26
@PaŭloEbermann I created a CW answer.
@AndrewStacey I think we've discussed that one before, and agreed that it's perfectly valid as a question with no good answer at the moment
BTW, great turnout today

Q: Usage of \lastbox

Will RobertsonAs part of our LaTeX3 work, we provide a consistent interface to TeX programming through the expl3 package. Q: Margin changes in converting DVI to PDF

rtyI have a 1 inch top margin in all the pages that I have in my DVI file. When I convert this to PDF however the top margin reduces! I am not sure why this is happening. Could someone tell me how to ensure a top margin of at least 1 inch in the PDF?

This has half of an answer inside the question, but not completely.
(Stupid question: I don't have enough rep to cast a vote to close a certain question. This procedure is totally different from flagging it and choose 'close', isn't it?)
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/23008/problems-with-winedt
@JosephWright commented on this, but no answer was given, although the issue seems to have been resolved one way or another. Too localized?
@MartinTapankov Indeed.
@PauloCereda If you have the right to vote, you see a "close" link below the question, which gives you a similar dialog as the one visible with flag => "does not belong here".
(Also, if you have the right to close-vote, this part of the flagging dialog automatically changes to close-vote instead.)

@PaŭloEbermann Hm I still don't have it.
Old, added an aswer, one option already helped the OP who didn't return to it
@PauloCereda Yes, it needs 3000 reputation.
Just use "flag" instead, or mention the question here, so others will vote to close. (Not me, I also don't have enough rep yet.)

Q: Looking for a web site or a tool to edit TeX and get instant preview in parallel

SoftTimurThere are some online TeX editors which allow to type TeX source, compile it and see the output. @JosephWright I've added one just expanding on my comment.
Oh, I found a great tool for use with BibTeX if anyone is interested: http://www.ottobib.com/ Put in a ISBN, get a BibTeX enty.
Sorry if I shouldn't distract you, but I thought you all might find it useful in future.
@MartinTapankov Isn't the main question here "how to add this type of arrow"? That should be doable with a bezier curve in TikZ, I think.
@PaŭloEbermann And add a similar font I think, which usually is pretty easy.

@Marco Interesting, and that can do non-book things, though I have no idea why I would want to cite a CD.
@Canageek Why do you think on cds? You can also search for books ;-) here an example: lead.to/amazon/en/…
@Marco Oh, useful for books that don't have an ISBN in them. Typically I'm using it for a book that I have in my hands and want a citation for without doing the work, so I just type the ISBN from the copyright page into the page I linked then past that into a .bib file, often with small changes.

@Canageek Of course the isbn is much easier it's only another tool.
@lockstep As someone whom uses ACS style I know how painful it is when nothing supports your citation style.

Q: How to embed LaTeX text, fonts, equations, or any LaTeX typesetting commands into a diagram.

user739807Is there away I can add LaTeX text, fonts, equations on a image. After searching around I noticed there is a PGF package however it seems I will need significantly some time to learn the package!

@Canageek Yes, but the OP's comment "It seems that some versions of natbib fail working with author-year argument" cries out for a MWE. (You could upvote Mico's answer if you think it is helpful; I'd rather close the question.)

@Canageek thx :)
@Canageek People are too modest, or feel that their comments are not a full answer. Or similar.
I just thought it seemed a shame to close a question that had actually been answered.
@PaŭloEbermann It started as a discussion, then someone found the answers and didn't break off to write it up. yeah, I can see how that would happen.

Huh, I just had a crazy idea. Is there a way to make pageless LaTeX? Instead of just sizing the paper for a computer screen making the entire document one page.... PDF probably wouldn't support it though.

Also is there a way to hide \section{foo} commands from the output? I'm liking them for keeping my thoughts organized in this essay, but history essay style as I've been taught it doesn't have them. I guess I could just comment them out at the end.
OK, time to say "Good night"!
