Ok, so lets say I was thinking of getting into anime, having almost no previous knowledge of it.

What should I start with?

Doctor Who is the only modern thing I can think of.

I loved the Ichigo vs. Byakuya battle (the first one), where Ichigo was the "good" guy with all black energy beams, and Byakuya was the "bad" guy with all white energy beams.

It actually was really well-done, visually.

@WorldEngineer I may have exaggerated a little, but I liked the scene (I mean 3 episode battle) a lot more before I knew that.

Also what is with all those combat-oriented animes giving the main character the lamest power and everyone else around him the most badass powers ever.
