I thought we elected STRONK MODERATORS, but I see that we have failed. :(

@LessPop_MoreFizz Hey now. :P
user15026
I am a lady! A delicate flower! A.....no, I can't even keep that up.

I dunno what it is, I slept from 4 whatever to 1 something pm, but I am wiped. I have failed the great moderator corps.
@AshleyNunn I M IRONMOD.
At least, until the alcohol content of my blood starts to overwhelm the caffeine content.

@LessPop_MoreFizz See, I just start picturing Steel Inquisitors ala Sanderson, and I just....spikes through bits are not attractive.
Right now, caffeine is firmly in control, but it is slowly losing strength.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz IT WILL HAPPEN
user15026
YOU WILL FALL.
Clearly the answer is (more) chocolate coated coffee beans
@ToxicFrog those are delicious, but sadly, I have none.

@ToxicFrog Blergh, no.
I am however drinking the second closest beverage to a good old fashioned speedball, which is to say coffee with whiskey in it.
user15026
I reach a point where caffeine keeps me awake, but I am also paranoid as heck.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz That's a pretty good choice. :)
(The closest thing is Red Bull + Vodka, which I am not terribly fond of in flavor, but have been known to suffer through drinking for it's chemical effects on occasion when out for the evening.)
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz I don't mind the flavour, but it screws me up SO BAD.
Feb 5, 2014 04:36
@AshleyNunn It really is the legal liquid equivalent of a speedball.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz shit, really?
@AshleyNunn I mean, it's not as strong, but yes, you are basically combining a strong upper and a strong downer.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz That makes sense, if I think about it. I just am like "that much caffeine will make me paranoid, and a drunk paranoid person doesn't sound fun"
@AshleyNunn the idea is that the alcohol counteracts the caffeine so you get the 'best' of both effects. In practice...
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz I suspect it works better on paper than reality?

Happy Mornings Everyone.!
@AshleyNunn Well, the problem is that both are also very strong diuretics.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz Oh, that just spells disaster.
So they cause dehydration very fast, which increases hangovers and such.
user15026
So basically, I am smart to keep away. Got it. :)

On top of that, there's the fact that caffeine's effect on the brain can make you 'feel' more sober, even though it doesn't actually improve your coordination or reflexes. So you become a hyperactive drunk, rather than a lethargic drunk.
user15026
Okay, day one of modding over. I made a promise I would get in bed before midnight, so I gotta go do the things that make for the sleeping.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz Yeah, okay, the more you tell me, the worse it sounds!
That said, if you can drink responsibly and be intoxicated responsibly, and consume water responsibly, the combination of caffeine and alcohol is not so horrific that you should never do it ever ever ever.
But... yeah, it is definitely worse for you than either one in isolation.
(and arguably more fun. :P)
Speedballs are much much much worse and more dangerous for various obvious reasons.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz Seeing as I react really quickly to caffeine, I will leave that particular party to you, my friend.
user15026
@LessPop_MoreFizz As one would (hopefully) naturally assume.

OKAY BRUSHING MY TEETH FOR REALSIES PLEASE STOP BEING AWESOME
(not least of which is the fact that the cocaine wears off well before the opiates, and what often happens is that you are left with respiratory shutdown after the stimulant wears off. And then you die. :( )
DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS. DRUGS R BAD.
