@FEichinger The finer details aren't really important unless you link to an existing question saying that it's a different problem. It's the same problem. The asker has shown some research, by issuing /gamemode 1, but it doesn't look like she's searched the site already.
@MBraedley No. What I'm saying is that this is indeed a different problem.
This assumes Adventure mode is on. This includes "cheats are off" and "We have created a new world" - which means it's impossible for that new world to be in Adventure mode. This makes it a different problem.
@FEichinger Maybe you should write or edit an answer to provide more information if you're so up in arms. One that covers all aspects of "Can't break blocks".
I can't tell just what causes it. It may well be a bug, even. But it's most definitely not due to adventure mode, as from the problem description. That's all I'm saying.
@OrigamiRobot I don't disagree, but the "master" definitely describes a "I played around with the gamemode and ended up unable to break blocks." - This isn't the case with the new question, simply because it's not possible for that to have happened. That makes it a fundamentally different problem here.
@Unionhawk This is exactly what I'm saying. Right now, the "master" only covers one of those reasons - duping the other reason to it without covering it in the master does not answer the other problem.
@FEichinger The two reasons I can think of are improperly mapped controls and accidentally in adventure. Or maybe playing the game entirely wrong by not holding mouse1.
Either way, they're doing something horribly wrong
@Unionhawk I had that last problem for a good 15 seconds when I first started playing Minecraft. Click, click, click, click hmm...it's not working, click+hold oh, there it goes.
Again: I'm not against adjusting the "master" to cover both topics. But right now it doesn't. Duping the other reason to it just means the other reason will never be answered there, simply because it is never assumed to be the case.
@OrigamiRobot Never disagreed on that. But right now we're duping to a question that is defined as a narrow "This reason results in this problem results in this solution.", but gets everything - even other reasons - duped to it, because hey, same title!
This is the pitfall that causes some of those questions to appear over and over again - they were never actually answered. We just pretend they were, due to policy and - again - hey, same title!
This is my first playthrough and I think I have done things backwards compared to what the designers intended. I scoured all of the wasteland and did all the DLC before I even set foot in New Vegas. Now I feel slightly confused, especially from the Wild Card quests or more specifically - Wild Car...
@OrigamiRobot Now, just how do you imagine a user with a different problem to indicate this at all? Edit the question? Gets rejected because it alters the meaning. Post a new question? Dupe, was already answered. -- This is why we're having this discussion at all. A better answer is needed. But it's never going to appear if we mindlessly dupe everything to a question that does not address the problem at hand.
@OrigamiRobot All of which require reputation, which a new user coming to the site to ask this question is not going to have. But they still face a problem that's never been answered.
@FEichinger We routinely edit questions to expand or narrow their scope when appropriate. In this case, it is very much appropriate to expand the scope of the existing question, which I have just done.
@OrigamiRobot I'm not saying they do. I'm saying either both questions remain for both individual settings or the master gets fixed to accomodate that. Neither is the result of mindless duping.
Also make sure that your gamemode is not set to adventure mode.
for regular survival mode enter : /gamemode 0
for creative mode enter : /gamemode 1
for adventure mode enter: /gamemode 2
Survival mode is just the minecraft as everybody knows it and this is probably the mode you want to be c...
@MBraedley This still requires some kind of decision whether or not it's actually the case. I bet my ass an edit by a new user to accomodate the second problem as well would have been rejected immediately.
@FEichinger Are you saying you would have rejected my edit? What do you think another average user would have done? What does the room think of my edit?
