Does anyone have a moment to answer some basic questions about chat rooms, etiquette, how to handle a edit problem?
I'm very new at this.
@creidhne Whats up ?
We always have moments! How we choose to spend them is another matter, but you seem nice enough
Great! I knew engineers help! We live to make things work.
Edit Problem in chat or Questions ?
Well, first, I'd like to politely invite some to chat. Battling comments is dumb, right?
I see how to make a room. How can I invite someone who's not already chatting>

This is the place for debate or conversation (comments), yes
Right, I get that!
Do you wish pivate room ? or this open chat ?
It doesn't matter, but a one-to-one chat.
I guess open is fine, because a third person might join.
in this chat, if you type the character "@" and then the persons ID (name), that will send a Ping to the person. The person can then click on the "ping", and will be re-directed to here
if you look above, on this chat, you will see how we type @ to notify a certain person
@Marla That only works for people who've used chat before.

even if a person isn't in this chat, their EE.SE will receive a ping, notifying them they have a message (comment) in chat
As for etiquette, just mention that it seems easier to discuss in chat, then invite the other commenter or (if it's an open chat) leave a link to the chatroom
@ThePhoton Oops, didn't know that
Right, I see that. But I'd like to invite someone who has commented on a post of mine and rejected an edit. I'd like to understand why?
@creidhne After too many comments, the main site will give you a link, something like "Comments are not meant for general conversation. Invite this user to chat?". If you click that, it will create a new chat room and invite you and the other guy to it.
It will also leave a link in the comments so that others can join your chat
@Aaron3468 @ And I'd do that in comments?
@ThePhoton Yeah, I know. Wikipedia syndrome.

Yeah. But as always, if the other person won't listen to reason, move on and don't worry about convincing them. You don't need to

If you go to the chat front room ( here ), there's a button to "create a new room". (maybe there's a minimum rep to see it). Click that to create a new room. Then go reply to the other guy in comments with a link to the new room.
But I'd like to try... another retired engineer and there should be something in common.
I see create a new room and it works for me... enough rep
Ah, okay. That seems the way to go. You're all great.
Can I get an opinion on etiquette and copyright?
Someone replaced an answer of mine in its entirety.
The editor used copyrighted advertising from Microsoft - describing OneDrive.
Now the answer appears to be mine. I'm not comfortable with that situation.
Link to your answer ?

A: Mount Office 365 OneDrive in OS X Finder

creidhneOneDrive is an app for that and it's free. OneDrive (by Microsoft Corporation) is the one place for everything in your life. It gives you free online storage for all your personal files, so you can access them from your Mac and any other devices you use – iPhone, iPad, PC, Windows Phone or Andro...

YIKES !

I commented: In the interest of full disclosure, the answer posted on 2016-07-14 05:09:14Z describing OneDrive is not my work. The bulk of the text is copied from the App Store description and it's © 2014 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Is it a good thing to fill Superuser with Microsoft's advertising material?
I would say that the edit to the first line is alright. Beyond that point, I think paraphrasing small, relevant parts of the bullets and deleting the rest is probably the best course of action.
I don't know about SuperUser, but an answer containing only a link would not be met with high approval here on EE.SE. . . . But I would not have thought another would modify so heavily
@Marla Which is what I did until someone went to the link and copied the text.
And the person I want to talk to is involved with an edit to another answer..
I too would be a bit distressed if someone modified an answer so heavily. If I were the editor here on EE.SE, I would have scowled at you seriously, but not edited
Yeah, that's how I see it too.
Well, this is very helpful!

Sometimes you have to sigh and move on. Choose your battles wisely
I don't what to appear to be a fanboy for a product I don't recommend. How about this...
I delete my answer and comment that if someone wants to restore it, they can copy from Microsoft on their own... or words to that effect.
@creidhne I was thinking similar
Always, good advice about choosing battles!
disown the thing, after making edit to show your reason. Never saw that before, but could be good
interesting
Well, it's a long story to explain. I certainly hope this is a rarity on stackexchange.

@creidhne Don't give up on SE. There are lots of conflicts between users as on other sites. But here, it gets pretty good, because of open and weighted (by vote) debate
Most helpful everyone. Thank you. I wish there was a new user room that was monitored. I haven't found one, but I'm glad I came to "ask an engineer."
I noticed that deleted answers show the final edit. It's like the last word in a debate.
Yes :) that is why I suggested edit before delete :)
kinda cool :)
getting the last word in @creidhne
and now, to let the others antagonize me, not often a woman gets the last word in. LOL. Double LOL
So that's my plan. BTW, I'm on superuser and mathematica. Now that I've found EE, I'll follow along.
@creidhne I have never been in other site chat rooms, but this room has a few interesting (and definitely educated intelligent) characters that you will enjoy
