@W5VO I know how you feel... I was so close to mod tools!

1:01 AM
@BG100, @W5VO - Right there with you! I was starting to get content with my reputation status, and focusing more on using the privileges I'd earned, but now I have to get another 2.5k...
@Kortuk Where can we view those questions? I've been using this page:
...and I think I'm about to lose that shortly.
@Kortuk - Also, what is "worthless"? Should we leave abuse (like the good ol' FM-CW front end SiversIMA questions) so that the user doesn't look innocent? Should we leave off-topic stuff as a reference that those questions are off-topic?

1:27 AM
@reemrevnivek Just given you a hand... I voted up some of your best answers :)

@BG100 - Thanks! But be careful when doing that. You can trigger a suspicious vote detector that will null the rep gain. Patience, patience....

@reemrevnivek Ok... oops... didn't think of that.

@reemrevnivek We should remove completely off-topic questions, someone whom is around the site regularly does not need those to see what is off topic.
@reemrevnivek We will have to find our path.
@reemrevnivek I was upvoting some really good content from the new users.

1:44 AM
@Kortuk Of course! I always do that. Those are the posts I'm most likely to bring here for a little more publicity.
Really, though, we don't loose much going from the beta rep model to the graduated:
5000 Vote to approve or reject suggested tag wiki edits
10000 Vote to delete closed questions, access to moderation tools
15000 Protect questions to prevent answers by new users
20000 Vote to delete negatively voted answers and stronger question deletion votes
Everything else can be had with 3000 rep.

@reemrevnivek, yeah!

1:59 AM
@BG100 You will not get in trouble, it will just null the affect of it.
@reemrevnivek The new rep scale is picky.
In theory this means we are not that far from actual moderator elections.
So there will be a new moderator team afterwards(although the current 4 could run and be elected).

@Kortuk What do you mean, the rep scale is picky? Isn't it the same scale, just with slightly bigger numbers?

@Kortuk Good... I can't afford to loose rep!

@BG100 - Don't worry about it! Like I just posted, the next privilege you can earn is to vote or approve tag wiki edits. Woop-dee-doo.
I think that rep will be better spent on [random bounties](http://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/510542#510542). This will bring more users to the site, giving your answers more publicity, netting you more upvotes, and more rep in the end.
hrrm. Why didn't that link parse right?

@reemrevnivek Yeah, but picky is selecting a smaller number of people from the exact same set of options. I am missing rep fora number of things on the new scale, I am not the most prolific user by any means(with mod work I rarely write answers now), but I am still up there and I am missing privileges.
I am not sure why it did not parse correctly.

I think that's the idea is -- have a small number of people with the same set of opinions (on how the site runs).
^what the idea is
Editing this question seems to have messed up my English skills.

2:10 AM
@reemrevnivek, I think it is just because graduated sites normally pull more users in and get more upvotes.

There, it worked.
How important are tag wikis? I just approved an edit for [tag:POV] (It means persistence of vision, not point of view...). I've largely ignored these. Do we need to make these a priority, or is answering, commenting, voting, and otherwise helping more important?

So do you think the link E&R will be given at the bottom of SO will bring a lot more people here?

They are a long term goal, short term they are not a large issue. We need to use them to slowly bring everyone into the fold on what the tags are.
@BG100, Yes. More CS people, get ready to enjoy.
@Martin, I was going to tell you, one of the reasons I think that E&R may bring so many more people in that are hobbyist level probably relates to our ties to SO. This is going to have those that program well and want to tinker. I have seen many high rep SO users join in with very basic questions about electronics.

@Kortuk - Agreed on the CS people. I think that we need to make it clear that E&R does include firmware, and RTOS user-space programming, and probably even a bit of embedded linux programming.
Those questions would get answers on SO, but we need to remember that it being a better fit is not the criteria for migration - Being a poor fit for E&R is the criteria.

@reemrevnivek, I am actually a very strong arm on what we do not need here. I moderate myself for what everyone else wants. I do think we are going to slowly need to start being stricter with question quality. I think our site can grow with more professionals. I think our primary goal to accomplish this will be improving question quality. This also means users performing edits and cleaning up formatting.
and remembering the mods are their friends, we are here to help teach about the system, contact higher ups for help, even to listen when a situation is frustrating.
anyway, I need to actually work at work, they get pissy about it otherwise. Going to get some of my list done.

3:14 AM
@reemrevnivek Link me what questions you mean and we can discuss it. In general complete lack of value or very negative is worth removing.

@Kortuk - Not a closed question, but here's one that's about to be closed. Can it be saved?

Q: How to find VCC and GND on a chip

200ok404notfoundI have a chip with 8 pins. I think I know which pins are VCC and GND, but I'm not sure. If I use a multimeter, can I do a continuity test to find which pins are VCC and GND?

@reemrevnivek, no, I am not sure how you would save that.
You can do it with a multimeter, but normally you need the datasheet to know what will be measured, and that makes the exercise moot.

The gist of what I would do is try to measure the ESD diodes
you'd get 2 diode drops between two signal pins, and only 1 between signal and power/ground

You should only get 2 if you are somehow measuring the pin reference to both power and ground.
and only if they have the ESD diodes everywhere
I have had many chips that do not
They have specific pins that do not have them for power/cost/function reasons.
If someone had written an answer explaining why that was not enough without knowing something about the chip I would consider that a successfully question/.

Q: Reprogramming LPC3154 at LPCxpresso

BarsMonsterI wonder, if that's possible to load lpc3154 at LPCExpresso board with custom firmware? I see that chip supports secure boot, so if AES key was programmed, it is impossible without knowing the key? Or are there any options to boot lpc3154 without knowing the key? (SD, flash, USB, JTAG... Anythin...

Q: Simple Adaptive Amplifier Options for Sensor Interfaces

msutherlI'm building an interface using resistive textile-based sensors that may have different resistance ranges depending on environmental conditions. In order to best make use of my A/D converters, I'd like to explore using an adaptive amplifier that will help compensate for the unreliable performance...

I'll get one of them -- would appreciate someone highlighting the other, as I can only do one at a time.
Actually, I bet @BarsMonster can just do it himself ;) ... will comment.

... and he did. A huge 450-point one, at that.

you know, I kinda wish that "number of votes per day" was one of the beta stats

@W5VO Site-wide, or per user? And how come? To show overall activity? Mods and admins have access to a bunch of stats that we don't, similar to what @BG100 displays in his Stack Exchange API-driven graphs, so I'm sure it is taken into account.

site-wide. It would give a "reputation growth" potential...
trying to figure out how to encourage voting

It's my birthday today, so everyone wish me a god-damn happyf'ing birthday.
Language included.
