A couple of those are almost perfect circles
I really want to know what caused that

@MDMarra User thought it was a touchscreen. When touching didn't work they tried hitting.

@tombull89 Yeah, looks like someone hit/squeezed the screen too hard in those spots and the LCD leaked.

@MDMarra Maybe baby UFOs. Crop circles on a monitor.

ProTip: Computers are emotionally fragile little creatures that were abused at the factory. DON'T HIT!

Nah, it's a laptop used by students. We've had a lot of these (get sent off site for repairs).
@voretaq7 Tell that to our kids.

3:01 PM
@tombull89 oh the kids you can hit
just make it look line an accident

@voretaq7 No, just make sure you don't leave visible bruises. Too many accidents and the cops come sniffing around anyway.

Is there an RFC for "Don't use public IPs that aren't yours internally" besides 1918?

Dan
@voretaq7 I was once invited outside for a fight with a student. I think I upset him when I laughed in his face because he ended his request with "sir"

Q: Using Public IP addresses for Private Network

NixphoeI have a network that uses the 192.192.192.x network address for their private network. It looks like publicly those are IP addresses that are assigned in Taiwan. I don't think they do too much business there, so it shouldn't "impact" their work. My question: Is there any RFC information or any ...

Dan
@MDMarra RFCDon'tBeADick

3:03 PM
Yeah seriously
I mean, I'm sure it's defined somewhere. But common sense will tell you not to do that

@Dan I've never had a student offer to step outside for a fight

C'mon... I posted bindersfullofwomen.tumblr.com, and no response?

@MDMarra No, but your registrar agreement for getting IPs usually includes a clause like "And if you use address space that isn't assigned to you we'll rip of your testicles and shove them into your eye sockets"

Dan
@ewwhite I didn't dare click

@MichaelHampton Ooh, I got a shattered one recelty.

3:04 PM
@ewwhite "R-Money is taking that whole 'beanpole dames in the magazines' thing a little too far"

@voretaq7 I'm staying at an apartment with no TV... so I had to stream the debate when i got home from dinner... By that time, people were going wild on Facebook.

@ewwhite Some people have WAY too much time on their hands.

Q: is it possible to install sql on public server?

Kia DullI have acesss to a public server in which i have read/write permissions. Only problem is that I don't have access to sql on the server. So my question is, is there any way I can either install sql remotely, or access it when I only have limited read and write permissions within the server.

Internet memes are like that...

Dan
3:06 PM
@voretaq7 You're not doing it right!

@ewwhite I count two outright lies (Obama re: the act of terror/terrorist attack ; Romney re: the binder), Obama offered a semblance of an answer to 3 questions, Romney offered a semblance of an answer to 2, and the moderator was abysmal.

Somebody want to look at this and tell me which one of us is completely off our rocker?

Q: apache being flooded?

DanielI have a linux apache server which was running fine until a few days ago. What happened is from the access log there are lines like this, and the log file is growing by many lines every second. Initially I suspected the server was dos attacked and stopped the server. but after several days whenev...

Another hour of my life I'm never getting back.

Sounds like a presidential debate. I skipped it.

@Dan I just use the Death Stare.

3:08 PM
This debate was much better than the first... Both candidates were much more aggressive, and I especially liked the 'calling each other out on the lies and misleading comments'... It was a tiny breath of fresh air

@ChrisS mmhmm, to me it's two little kindergarteners in suits

@ChrisS Actually, I was just thinking about how terrible the debate was.

YOU'RE A LIAR! NO! YOU'RE A LIAR! MISS MODERATOR HE'S BEING MEAN!
just handcuff the little brats together, give 'em each a 6" hunting knife, and last man standing is president.

Dan
@tombull89 It wasn't a bad school to be fair

at least THAT would be entertaining.

3:09 PM
They clearly have differing views on things, but not stand behind the merits of their own ideas and explain why they are the best for the economy/social situation/education, etc instead of just lying and then getting called on lying.

Come on... are you guys excited about Romney?

@Dan I think students and underlings tend to be afraid of me

Instead of attacking your opponent's truthiness, you should be talking about the strength of your own platform

@MDMarra WHAAAAAAAAAT?

That said, for it to work, they'd have to actually...you know...tell the truth

3:10 PM
Next thing you'll be saying they should ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTIONS THEY'RE BEING ASKED

@MDMarra Yeah... I'm still not convinced that I want to vote for one of them, the other definitely isn't getting my vote; but I wonder how many other people are in the same situation

That I don't care about so much

@ewwhite The only virtue of democracy as a form of government is that you get to vote the bums out every four years. High time we remembered that and started exercising that right.

there's a reason I can't be in the audience of these things
I'd be screaming "ANSWER. THE. QUESTION."

I can't believe that there are enough undecided voters for this to matter

Dan
3:11 PM
@voretaq7 I don't think our kids were afraid of anybody to be honest

As a Brit, US politics doesn't partitularly interest me, but if Romney got in I'd be worried for the US.
That's seeing him as a person, I don't really know the policies.

@ewwhite The only thing that excites me about Romney is that he's at least talking about simplifying the government in any way (namely taxation, but I don't care as long as we're inching away from "The Government is your caretaker. You owe the G everything and the G will give you all that you need").

@tombull89 You'd be right

@tombull89 What can he (or anyone) do to make things worse than they already have been over the last 4 or 5 years?

@ChrisS The problem with Romney is this. A girl on facebook posted last night "Why don't we just have everyone on welfare make ipads lol" and a dozen people liked it immediately.

3:12 PM
@tombull89 oh if we're going to go with personal attacks: He doesn't drink coffee. I'm a New Yorker sir, I don't trust ANYONE who doesn't have a cup of coffee in their hands from the time they wake up in the morning until they go to bed!

Dan
C'mon, can we get this shit tip tidied up:

http://serverfault.com/questions/439350/is-it-possible-to-install-sql-on-public-server

@MDMarra There were only about 6% who would flip-flop in the first place, everyone else had made up their minds based on some inane criteria long ago.

While he may have some good ideas on how to reform certain programs that hemmorage money, he does it in a way that draws out people like that and that doesn't resonante with me

@MDMarra And Obama doesn't have idiot supporters on Facebook...?

@HopelessN00b Oh of course he does. They both do.

3:13 PM
@Dan there have to be 3 other people here who can vote to cast that back into the abyss

So, the distinction is...?

My point was that the way he presents his ideas seems to draw out people like that
That's the kind of reaction that he seems to be going for

@MDMarra That seems more like a problem with idiot Americans than a problem with Romney.

I agree, but those are the people whose vote he's trying to get

@ChrisS @HopelessN00b the distinction is more idiots tend to vote republican because AMERICA FUCK YEAH!

3:14 PM
@MDMarra Those are the undecided 6%....

I'm just sad that our elections come down to a sliver of the population; and undecided voters...

and I don't blame the republican party for that - they embraced the AMERICA FUCK YEAH rhetoric rather than taking the harder path of educating their "base"
but that's how you win elections

I wonder what elections would look like if they were moved to a saturday and people could vote from home

@voretaq7 Still not sure how you can hold that against a particular politician that they have idiot supporters..

@MDMarra I wonder what elections would look like if it were a national holiday

3:15 PM
@voretaq7 shrug It's idiots electing idiots either way. Given the choices, I'd slightly prefer the idiot who's going to tax me less for the privilege of violating me.

@ChrisS I don't, but I really wish the idiots would forget when election day is
it should be tied to the date of Easter

@ChrisS It's because of the picture that he paints of people on welfare or immigrants, or birth control, etc.

It's the same in most places. Most people would vote for their party even if it had stalin or hitler in charge because its "their party!"

'cuz nobody fucking understands how THAT works.
@HopelessN00b Given the choice I'd rather get something for the money I'm going to be paying anyway
neither candidate has a tax plan that will substantially affect what I pay

@MDMarra Do you know any people on Welfare? I'm not sure that's entirely inaccurate.

3:16 PM
And what is wrong with Obama?

@voretaq7 reminds me of the lady on the news who was celebrating "Obama won. I'm never going to have to work again!"

@ewwhite Comparatively, or objectively? :)

@voretaq7 Such as? Honestly, I can't think of any service the federal government forces me to pay for that I actually use... or want. So I'd rather just have as much of my money back as possible, honestly.

@ChrisS I grew up with a few actually

@voretaq7 In comparison.

3:18 PM
No eduation, lived in a bad area, worked whatever part time jobs they could get hired for and still needed food stamps or WIC or other programs

@HopelessN00b a national health system would be nice. Maybe some mass transit funding out of the DoT, some investment in NASA wouldn't hurt...
@ewwhite Nothing. They're materially identical in all respects except the skin color and tie.
and the not drinking coffee thing.

Plenty of people on government aid are proud and work hard but are a product of a shitty environment and need to feed their family

@MDMarra I've got family... Romney's representation is quite flowery and sugar coated compared to them. =/

@voretaq7 I don't believe so.

@HopelessN00b What, you don't want to be groped at the airport?

3:19 PM
@MDMarra Wouldn't you argue that we should be concentrated on breaking those cycles then?

If you invest in education in inner cities and work to create jobs other than just research/r&d, then over many generations the problem will begin to cure themselves.
but that's over many generations

@MichaelHampton Unfortunately, even when I wouldn't mind it, saying "I want her to feel me u... check me for concealed weapons" just causes more problem than it solves.

@ewwhite Obama talks a good game, but he doesn't have the political will to actually get things done (or he's so terrified of losing the right that he won't)

In the meantime, people are hungry, poor, and have no way out

I'm pretty sure we could see some results within 4 years of implementing a well conceived program to get people out of the "lower" class and into "mid-lower".

Dan
3:21 PM
@HopelessN00b I found that saying "I'll take her" and pointing at an operative doesn't help at all

Romney is flat out diametrically opposed to about 80% of my personal views, but I don't think he has the political will to push that kinds of stuff through either, so bleh.

@ChrisS It's already there you just have to take advantage of it. =\

@ChrisS cough*federallivingwagelaw*cough

@ChrisS I dunno man. 4 years is a really short time. Imagine a kid that came up through k-8 dirt poor, can barely read, school has 40 year old books. Then imagine that kid goes into a pristine brand new high school with the best teachers and all new shit. After 4 years do you really think he'll be able to overcome the fact that his k-8 years were basically meaningless?

@r.tanner.f Which requires navigating more paperwork than its worth. Only the government could fuck up something like giving away money.

3:22 PM
You need to fix the problem so that a whole generation of people can have a clean slate

@HopelessN00b If you can't navigate paperwork for money then you're destined for McDonalds anyway.

@MDMarra Yeah, if you cherry pick the worst case scenario, 4 years isn't enough... I'm looking for enough proof-of-concept to make it a long term program.

Until a minimum of a whole generation has time to come up through a "fixed" education system in inner cities, there's absolutely no way to measure the success or failure of anything we do
Right, but an awful lot of govt aid goes to people in inner cities
It's like that in philly, nyc, la, everywhere

@r.tanner.f I can't/won't and I do fine. And for what it's worth, I know an accountant who works at McDonald's. Make six figures for about 3 months of work.

@r.tanner.f Wrapping back around to my first comment about Simplifying Government... Thank you. =]
We could just cut funding of The 100 Most Wasteful Government Spending 2012 and have plenty-o-money to feed and shelter everyone. Might not be fillet minion and the Ritz, but sustenance and warm/dry.

3:26 PM
@voretaq7 And you don't think our system is broken? I don't think Obama has had the easiest time shaping policy.

Not hardly. All that barely adds up to a fraction of a percent of the federal budget.

What's the budget at, ~3 trillion? Adding up a wasted million here or there is like trying to buy a car with the pennies you find under the couch cushion.

@voretaq7 that's every politician.... "Can't do what I want because I'll get kicked out of office. Someone wants to pay me to pass laws that wont get me kicked out. Cha-ching!"

@ewwhite like I said, he doesn't have the political will to get anything done.

Healthcare?

@ChrisS easy solution: Ban consecutive terms and make everything a 5 year term.
@ewwhite "Obamacare"? A watered down debacle that basically says "Everyone give private insurance companies money or we're gonna tax your ass" -- certainly not what I wanted my government to waste time, ink, and money on.

3:30 PM
@voretaq7 Conservatives did a pretty good job of scaring the public... "Death Panels!"

anything short of "Everyone gets medicare, here's the timetable to phase it in." is just wind.

@voretaq7 Keep in mind what Romney did in MA too. Not just with health insurance
Auto insurance was state mandated

@ewwhite Every time I see "Death Panels" I read "Private carrier actuaries"

Everything was fix-priced and your insurance info was printed right on your registration
That didn't change until after Romney left office

@MDMarra I have mixed feelings about the auto insurance part, but the health system MA and VT set up is a great model for a national program.

3:31 PM
I was just illustrating that he's not as "free market" as he makes himself out to be
At least his track record doesn't suggest that

@voretaq7 but why not do it as the state level for the other 48?

@JustinDearing Economies of scale
Medicare runs with a 4-8% overhead depending on whose reports you read

@HopelessN00b Er, your "pennies" add up to $18,000,000,000. At about 16m homeless or undernourished, that's $1125 each per year... We could do a lot of good with that money.

there's no possible way to match that state-by-state or through private carrier competition
(I'm also not saying let's get rid of private insurance -- if medicare isn't "good enough" for someone they can buy in to a private program which would be substantially cheaper than the $ALL_THE_MONEYS_YOU_HAS costs we pay now)

I wish someone would run on an extremely liberal or conservative platform in the primaries to get the nomination and then just goes "jk lol. I'm actually socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Vote for me, disenfranchised people of America. I'll cut spending and I don't hate gay people and model my decisions after religion"

3:34 PM
@voretaq7 do we get better scale from state to national level? I'll concede 49 more low-mid 6 figure salaries for the new czars, but each state still has lots of buying power

Right, 18 billion. Still less than one percent of the federal budget. As to what we could do with it... so what? No matter what we could do with it, it's government money, destined to be pissed away on pork or pet projects or whatever other bullshit.

It won't be put to good use, so it's rather pointless to waste time wishing about what might be.

@JustinDearing well NY does sure, but Montana, Oklahoma, the Dakotas -- those are relatively low population density states
@MDMarra I can't be president.

Why not?
Besides the obvious "not old enough"

@MDMarra (a) not old enough, (b) not straight enough, (c) not rich enough

@voretaq7 One day when presidents are elected via reddit, you'll get your shot. Hang in there you gay, poor, whippersnapper.

3:37 PM
@MDMarra Ron Paul? He's been running for president on that platform for... ever, and look how far that's gotten. Voters don't actually want that in a candidate.

@MDMarra (d) not redditor enough :P

@HopelessN00b Ya, but Ron Paul is fucking crazy

@HopelessN00b voters don't fucking know what they want
@MDMarra SO IS $_CANDIDATE

And he's super religious

they're ALLLLLL crazy
the only people more batshit crazy than presidential candidates are congressional candidates

Q: How to insert all records into sqllite using JSONArray?

user1743553i want insert all records of result in SQLlite. and result showing records like this "[{"nome":"A BARATEIRA DE TECIDOS LIMITADA ME"}][{"nome":"A BARATEIRA DE TECIDOS LIMITADA ME"},{"nome":"A.A.L. COMESTIVEIS E RESTAURANTE LTDA ME"}][{"nome":"A BARATEIRA DE TECIDOS LIMITADA ME"},{"nome":"A.A.L. C...

OK, can someone suspend this fellow
Or at least kick him in the taint

@voretaq7 No, they know what they want; they're just stupid. There's a difference.

He just keeps asking off topic stuff after he's been told it's off topic

@HopelessN00b "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask, 'Why?' I dream of things that never were, and ask 'Why not?'. The future does not belong to those who are content with today, apathetic toward common problems and their fellow man alike, timid and fearful in the face of bold projects and new ideas." - JFK, 1962

@MDMarra I was just going to drop that in here
I'm waiting to find out if he's question blocked on SO

@ChrisS "Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you!" - Pennywise, some year
@MDMarra So, you want any libertarian candidate, just not the only person actually willing to run for president as a libertarian candidate? Sounds... like American politics.

3:41 PM
@HopelessN00b “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” - Mahatma Gandhi

@HopelessN00b Sorry man, can't vote for a guy that makes his decisions based on his personal religion. Ron Paul falls into that category.

@ChrisS I've got some great racist quotes from Ghandi about black folks being lazy and worthless, I can share those if you'd like...
@MDMarra What decisions would those be?

If you exclude anyone that makes decisions based on their personal religion, that's, what, 85% of the world, and literally every serious presidential candidate this county has ever had, isn't it?

@HopelessN00b I prefer to think that the world can be a better place, and that my efforts no matter how small and insignificant, do contribute to the overall progress and are never wasted. Maybe that's an optimistic point of view, but most people accuse me of being a pessimist.

3:46 PM
@HopelessN00b You can't run a country as diverse as this and base your views on abortion or marriage on a Christian view of morality.
Well I mean, you can. I just won't vote for you.

@MDMarra not straight enough? What about Reagan and Lincoln? Promise to fire the FAA again and free the kittens!

@ChrisS Probably because that ethic naturally makes you critical of other peoples contributions ;)

hi

@MoonLight Hi

@MoonLight hi

3:47 PM
@ChrisS Sounds nice. Wish I could believe that... but it would require the ingestion of large quantities of "evil" chemicals that are banned by law.

can any body help me about my plesk 10.4 in windows web server 2008
?

@MDMarra And yet every president we have has done just that...

can i ask a little question?

@MoonLight You just did. Only one per day.

3:48 PM
@HopelessN00b No. There have been plenty of Christian presidents that haven't made "christian" decisions about these topics

Guys the last month or 2 i've posted a couple of questions on SF, been quite accurate with my questions and i'm fairly certain they're on topic... But i get very few views and no answers... The most recent question had a bounty (which just expired) yet only gained ~50 views :( What am i doing wrong? serverfault.com/questions/432122/… serverfault.com/questions/429480/…

ok
only one
per day
?

@MDMarra Not really. What's the "christian" decision on those topics?

@MoonLight Question

@MDMarra Gently bonked.

3:49 PM
@HopelessN00b No abortion and no gay marriage is pretty standard (though some sects do have dissenting views.)

@voretaq7 :( you beat me to it
I sent the last one to SO to check if they were question blocked or not and as it went I assume not

i installed plesk in my web server (windows web server 2008 - r2) before installing dns / it seems every thing is ok about plesk / but when i create a domain no records added to dns forward zones!
what is going on about that? what should i do to fix it?

Why are you using Plesk?

i am so crazy about that.
i should
it's not for me

@MDMarra shrug Like saying the "American" personality is greedy and rude. Stereotypes and generalizations against a group of hundreds of millions of people don't tend to be all that accurate for any particular member.

3:52 PM
@HaydnWVN The first Q seems fairly technical, and not very many people use SBS, and even fewer of those people would actually pay attention to any sort of reporting. So it's likely that nobody who knows has seen the Q. The second, not sure there; seems like there's enough Linuxy people around that someone should know.

@Iain usually you or @ChrisS beat me to the bonkings

@voretaq7 mainly @ChrisS

@HopelessN00b Right, but we were talking specifically about Ron Paul. He allows his religion to dictate his stance on moral issues. Because of that, I'd never vote for him. (not to mention it would be a wasted vote)

@Iain he sleeps with a banhammer under his pillow he does

@Iain I'm just getting tired of people pulling the same crap over and over... I can see where you burn-out being a Mod long enough.

3:53 PM
would be really appreciate to help me fix that damn thing
!

@MDMarra Enh, if you say so. Seems to me that I'd rather have someone in office who's at least honest about what he believes, and able to differentiate his personal beliefs from what role government ought to play in passing laws.

@MoonLight You should ask a question on the main site with copious detail

@MoonLight Plesk isn't a tool that most/any of us use

@ChrisS Thanks Chris S, it's just me then :P

3:55 PM
here is the question with no answer

@MoonLight but like @Iain just said most of us don't use Plesk (because the general consensus is plesk, cpanel, etc. all suck in their own special and unique way)

ok

@MoonLight Remove plesk. Setup DNS. Readd plesk. Coffee.

@JustinDearing Going to train some people in Lloyds boys. Spending the weekend in a youth Hostel in Cambridge

but what is wrong about them

3:57 PM
Their suckliness, mainly. Probably other things too.

there is no uninstall for plesk 10.4
i should reinstall windows
but why there is no errors during creating a domain in plesk?

You know, i don't even know what Plesk is....

@MoonLight I don't think anyone here knows anything about Plesk (at least not the questions you're asking)
@ewwhite Like CPanel, web server admin thing....

where can i get help?

@MoonLight Man, sounds like you're just in way over your head here...

3:59 PM
Oh, VPS shit.

yes
vps

@MoonLight Lots of people and companies offer consulting services and are happy to help anyone with almost anything for a fee.

i asked it in serverfault with no answer
i asked it in plesk forum
they did n't answer too

@MoonLight Wait. Patience is a virtue.

4:01 PM
@Iain Official support?! The audacity!

@ChrisS I know :(

@Iain you're a terrible person sir!

gggggoooooooooodddddddd i reinstalled windows three times
please help me

@MoonLight I don't see any questions from you tagged with

@Iain I recommend 2 good beatings and a long walk in the rain in response to your actions.

4:03 PM
@HaydnWVN I'll speak to my wife later

@HaydnWVN Combine the two - go for a walk in the rain and beat a few people sensible with your umbrella.

Q: Empty ForwardLookupZones(DNS) After Creating A Domain Using Plesk 10.4 Panel

SilverLightYesteday i bought a vps with plesk 10.4 installed. i created a customer and a domain for his using that panel. it seems there is no problem about that plesk, but i am so confused where are dns records of that domain in ForwardLookupZones area (DNS) and why that area is still empty?!

i was with another pc
so i created another acc

@voretaq7 Or just beat yourself with an umbrella while stood in the shower - why leave home unless required

@HaydnWVN should I use the riding crop or the dressage whip?

@Iain Use the whole donkey

4:04 PM
@MoonLight would you like me to merge the accounts?

@voretaq7 That or one has to be burninated.... Multiple accounts are not allowed.

(if so just change them to have the same email address)

i don't know

i am new in server fault
what is going on about that plesk?
did you read that thread?

4:07 PM

i know i know, this is my first q in this area -> just this time

So?
Still not a place for live support, still no one here who's going to have a different answer than "contact your vendor."

@MoonLight someone with plesk experience will eventually, hopefully spot your question and offer you an answer.
Asking in here does not get you attention any faster - it just irritates the mob (at which point the mods have to yell at the mob to be nice, and I don't want to have to start doing that before lunch)

@voretaq7 It's 12:09. Go take lunch now, and then you can yell at us mobsters after lunch, like you seem to imply you want.

In the interim, I assume you've given someone money for Plesk. The person who took your money can also offer you support, and since they know the product better than anyone who hangs out here they can probably offer an answer quicker.
(and when they do give you an answer you become our resident expert on this particular plesk issue, so I encourage you to post it on your question so the next guy who runs into this wall can find the solution)

4:12 PM
Aaaaaand rep capped as my march toward epic continues

@MDMarra Vacuum.

mornin' gents.

@MDMarra Psssh.

@voretaq7 The ladies like it when we vacuum, I hear. Not that I'd know anything about that.

@Adrian Well if you're going to be picky.

4:17 PM
@WesleyDavid I'm always picky. It's what I DO.
Am I correct that we're not supposed to migrate old questions that have answers?

@Adrian generally we wouldn't migrate old questions at all unless someone asks for them

@voretaq7 half. And half-Polish. Which is where the pounding on the table over matters of principle comes from.
@voretaq7 Then this probably needs a mod-hammer? serverfault.com/questions/366827/…
@WesleyDavid And frankly, I want to do my part to make sure that SU doesn't think of us in the same way that we think of SO.
@voretaq7 Thank you.

@Adrian yeah. If he asks me to move it over to SU I will but I don't want to kick it there without some kind of feedback

Heh. Driving my padawans nuts this morning. Dancing in my chair listening to Monsters and Men while amped to the eyeballs on a quad espresso.

@Adrian exxxxxxcelent?

4:29 PM
Damn Skippy it is. I'm obviously a horrible person since I make them think, I might as well annoy them too.

Invalid flag! cackles

@WesleyDavid ?

@WesleyDavid Your face is invalid.

I miss the Ping of Death. =(
Reminds me of the fun ol' days.

hey @ScottPack how goes ?
did you give you security talk yet?

4:35 PM
@Iain Someone flagged a chat message that was merely one person questioning another person's assumptions with over-polite language. Quite possibly the weirdest flag I've seen yet.

@Iain Not bad. Been busy

@ScottPack So when is zer pres due at the campus?

@Iain Yeah, it was on Monday. I need to get my slides out so they'll get posted. I was hoping the talks would be recorded, so in the absence of that I just had to turn the notes field of my slidedeck into a novel.

@ScottPack did it go well ? Will it be on youtube (or similar)?

@WesleyDavid This evening. They start letting people on premise around 3pm with the big man expected to start speaking around 6ish.

4:37 PM
@ScottPack Awesome. Are you in attendance in some capacity? The fairer half and offspring too?

it would have been interesting to listen to / watch

@Iain I think so. I need to talk to some attendees to get some notes. Had some good questions and conversation with a couple of people. I desperately want to be a good speaker, so I think I annoy people with the RFCs.
@Iain We were advertising out to university faculty/staff/students, state higher-ed, state/local public employees, and regional businesses. So I had to assume that in the room were the full range from non-technical business owners and security professionals.
@WesleyDavid Room was full with some standers, so in the neighborhood of 30-40. She couldn't get away from work.

So the person who used to have my cell phone number just died. I'm getting all sorts of ... interesting ... phone calls today.

@MichaelHampton Weird. What's the quarantine period for phone numbers over there?

@MichaelHampton This is why I own my phone number. I'm the fist and only person who's ever had it. Unless I stop paying the bills I'll be the only person who will ever have it (until I kick it...)

4:47 PM
If anyone has a few Q&A votes left at the end of their day, I'd suggest throwing a few to Ladadadadadada. IMHO, Consistently good answers and he's not too far away from 10k.

@ScottPack I meant for tonights presidential thingy.

@WesleyDavid What's tonight??

@ChrisS @ScottPack gets to meet the president.

is this a joke?

Q: Shared FC LVM VG with LVs for each KVM VM. Clvm required?

CocoabeanI have 2 virtual machine hosts running Ubuntu 12.04 and KVM managed with libvirt. They are both connected to the same VG which is a LUN on my SAN over FC. I provision LVs on this shared VG for each VM. I don't think I need HA or failover, but I do want live migration between the hosts. Do I need ...

For extremely broad interpretations of "meet"

4:48 PM
I got my ABC streaming to an LVM on DVR's O.P.P... Should I use SAS, FCoE or AoE?

@WesleyDavid And the mother-in-law yeah. We'll see how long we stick around. Sounds like it'll probably be pretty dang crowded.

@ewwhite Shared FibreChannel Linux Volume Manager Volume Group with Logical Volumes for each Kernel Virtualization Machine Virtual Machine. CLVM required (don't know that last one)

@WesleyDavid Pretty much the leafy area surrounded on the east, south, and west sides by the buildings and north side by Union. goo.gl/maps/5VdTs

@ewwhite Starting a career in IT Hip Hop?
@ScottPack Did you feel the quake the other day?

So I got a NO on the mortgage request.

4:51 PM
@WesleyDavid I think they said about 10-15 thousand tickets were handed out.
@Adrian I didn't. When was it?

why? Income over $x00k... check.
Credit... good enough
700+
Job history...
I haven't worked anywhere for 2 consecutive years.

@ScottPack I guess it was last night. 7ish local time.

@Adrian Cute. No I didn't.

so the mortgage underwriter excludes my W2's... and only includes my consulting and wife's W2.

@ewwhite If he gets his accept rate up, maybe I'll think about looking into it.

4:54 PM
@ewwhite Sounds about right. It's not like everything HAS to be included.

Wait, he does mean FibreChannel, right?

@MichaelHampton Fedora Core?

@ewwhite that's a pretty normal reason to exclude income in my experience

Because I worked in finance?

stupid as fuck, but normal

4:55 PM
@Adrian Oh wow, it was what..700 miles away? On the other side of a mountain range. :)

and typically had 6 month non-competes between jobs

@ewwhite because your employment history shows you don't stay at a job for long -- "makes you look flaky"
remember mortgage underwriting is still based on the idea that you'll work for one company for your whole life

that's the nature of that industry,
before trading, I was at a firm for 6 years.

@ScottPack Actually, some NH folks I follow on Twitter were tweeting that they felt it enough to think their washer was off-balance.

but then on my consulting, it's advised to reduce tax liability... so the income there doesn't look as good on paper.

4:57 PM
And the folks in Central Idaho regularly feel the medium-sized quakes here around Seattle and out on the coast.

@voretaq7 that dream ended in 1970, right?

@Adrian NH is just about as far from me as ME. :)

@ewwhite And few people remember that the lifetime employment fallacy didn't exist until 1955ish anyway.

So that was a short-lived american dream?

@ScottPack Ah! I thought you LIVED in New Hamster.

4:58 PM
@ewwhite I don't think it was ever truthful to be honest

@Adrian I'm in southeast Ohio.

being able to buy a house, put your kids through college and take vacations on your GM factory job.

@ScottPack My Condolences. =)

that was a bubble.

@ewwhite Just a long enough one that people thought it was the new normal.

4:59 PM
@Adrian Athens is a bit of an outlier for the region. Were I anywhere else I would probably gladly agree. :)

But maybe this is the credit crisis hitting close to home...

That's about how it works for an exports based economy instead of what we have now.
