I know it's a CG chat but I wonder what do you think about migrant crisis in Europe? (I know the politics doesn't fit this place well/at all but just wanna know). If you are not interested mark my question as OFF-TOPIC :).

@PaulGonet We have kind of had a thing about not talking about politics here because some tempers have flared.

Normally a separate room is used. That way people don't become overly aggravated by constantly seeing opposing viewpoints getting rubbed in, which could result in a overly heated debate.

Well, should Europe be helping and housing those migrants? That is the question. Do they have a moral obligation to open their homeland to these desperate people? Are their citizens supposed to put up with the cost and hassle and possible risks of these newcomers, or is it okay for them to kick them out, even if it results in their suffering and possible eventual death?

There are alot of questions . . .

@Scalia Well the migrant crisis is largely fueled by people fleeing wars in the middle east. And yes, people are fleeing on over crowded boats which sink killing them.

I think immigration is fine. If someone wants to work I don't see why an inhabitant who doesn't do his job should keep it if there's a harder working person whether or not they're an immigrant

I can understand it can put strain on national coffers and infrastructure if there is a migration imbalance - which happens when the poor flee to the rich countries - but I feel like that cost is a moral obligation to help our fellow humans who are desperate. Our fancy rich neighborhoods are not worht their lives.

As far as the new/tv - I avoid watching cable news if I can help it. It has hardly any substance. I have the NY times app on my phone, and that is what I usually read.

That still is a bit misleading sometimes. I find it hard to find high quality news. I have been liking Vox the best (as they often do more informative meta-anaylsis of the news, which provides extra perspective), although I find it is often oversimplified.

the tv propaganda shows them as a poor mother with children who run away from war, but the fact is 90% of these 'imigrants' are well built 25-30 years old men

Of course TV shows will find the mother and children for the cameras. But if your a healthy young adult, I still don't believe you deserve to live in a warzone if you don't want to.

I don't think they are trying to settle and take over Europe - I honestly believe they are just trying to escape the mess that is their homeland. The western powers have been fighting over their land for years (because of the oil). Now the western powers are left with the innocent citizens of these countries they destroyed. They got karma-ed.
