12:26 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan which temple is that where the statue roared?..
@SwiftPushkar Ramcharitmanas has Uttara Kanda but it is very different from Valmiki Ramayana.... it deals with Vedanta... it is in dialogue form of Kakbhusundi and Garuda....
@KeshavSrinivasan however the verse "Gananam tva Ganapati.." is used by Vedic Scholars for Ganesh.. as we have previously discussed the devata is Brahmanaspati (not Brihasapati)....
@KeshavSrinivasan my Uncles son read Veda in Vedic school.. when I asked to whom does the verse "Gananam tva ganapati.." is adressed to... then he told their teacher taught it's prayer for Ganesha...
@KeshavSrinivasan what do you think about story where Rama kills Sambuka in Uttara Kanda ?...

3 hours later…
3:19 AM
@Tezz I think the story of Rama killing Shambuka is authentic, I don't see any reason to doubt it.

@Tezz नमस्ते सु-दिनं , हाँ तुम्हारी बात सही है . ब्रम्हणस्पति शब्द बराबर है
Somebody down voting me frm long।

@SwiftPushkar if it is serial downvoting it will get reversed...

@Tezz ok

@KeshavSrinivasan what do you think are the inauthentic portion in Uttara kanda..?...
@SwiftPushkar btw you can check activity profile of person to check how much downvote he has casted..
@SwiftPushkar for eg. I have casted total 5 downvotes upto now... and you can see it here... ...hinduism.stackexchange.com/users/5154/tezz?tab=topactivity
and you have casted 10 downvotes...
@KeshavSrinivasan by the way... I have now full Anukramani for Vajasaneyi Samhita... if you need something from there you can ask me .....
.
@SwiftPushkar however I just checked your profile.. you are just downvoted 6 times... and in far dates.. so it is not Serial downvoting... normally in the beginning when people first come to site they do not quote scriptures and thus get downvoted...
However personally I haven't downvoted any of your answer and questions...

3:44 AM
@Tezz. Oh ok I thought that was because of yesterdays answer :)

@SwiftPushkar however your recent answer was Rama a God? Shouldn't have been downvoted.. as you have Nicely quoted scripture... I don't know why the downvoter downvoted it...

@Tezz Are there any stories about shree rams childhoods , like krishna bal lilas? Cause i haven't came across Rama's stories from his infancy

@SwiftPushkar I don't think there are any... and if there are any also I don't think it is in scripture...

@Tezz is valmiki ramayan the oldest ref. Of shree Ramas life.

@SwiftPushkar historically that is...but scriptually there is another Ramayana in Padma Purana which took place in previous Kalpa... ie. Billions year before ValmikiRamayana...

3:57 AM
@Tezz ohh ok with diff. Story or story got exactly repeted ?
@Tezz. Why dry ginger+suger associated with Ram-Navami ? It seems there must be some specific reason

@Tezz Well, there are various parts of the Uttara Kanda I think are potential interpolations. I think interpolations mainly occur in various points in the portion of the Uttara Kanda that tells the story of Ravana. But also I think the stories that Rama tells Lakshmana may be interpolations, and the parts that talk about animals coming to Rama's court are almost certainly interpolations. But apart from that the rest of it is almost all authentic.

@Tezz. We call that"Suntha vada".

@SwiftPushkar a slightly different story took place in previous kalpa... for eg.. Rama didn't built Setu... all Vanara sena rode on bow of Lord Shiva and reach another side of Sea ie. Lanka...
@SwiftPushkar I have no idea... of association of ginger in Ramanavami...
@KeshavSrinivasan what is the story of Animals coming in Ramas court?...

@Tezz. Thanks :)

@Tezz The animal stories start in this chapter: ancientvoice.wikidot.com/src-vrm:ram7-70 It's widely agreed that they're interpolations.
@Tezz Here's another example of something I think may be an interpolation:
5
A: Did Valmiki - Ramayana author, write about Lord Krishna?

Keshav SrinivasanThere's only one reference to Krishna in the Ramayana. In this chapter of the Uttara Kanda, Rama asks Lakshmana to find out whether anyone is waiting to see him, because Rama was distraught over Sita's exile and thus wasn't seeing any subjects for the past few days. Rama tells Lakshmana that it...

@Tezz Can you tell me the rishi for Vajasaneyi Samhita chapter 31?
@Tezz It's the Purusha Sukta.

4:18 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan omg... I never knew.... dogs and vultures and owls talking in Valmiki Ramayana..
It's interesting... However we can't be sure that these are 100% interpolations... may be consciousness level was high in RamaRajya and animals could speak...
@KeshavSrinivasan it writes Narayana for 1 to 16 and Uttara Narayana for 17 to 22...
@KeshavSrinivasan I don't understand what it mean by Uttara Narayana...

@Tezz Yeah, talking animals themselves aren't an impossible occurrence; they occur in the Satyakama Jabala story in the Chandogya Upanishad, although Adi Shankaracharya says that those talking animals are actually Indra, Agni, etc. taking the form of animals.
@Tezz Well, the Purusha Sukta of other Vedas is longer than the Purusha Sukta of the Rig Veda. The additional part of the Purusha Sukta found in other Vedas is called the Uttara Narayana.
@Tezz So what does it say, Narayana rishi and Uttara Narayana rishi?
@Tezz And does it say Purusha is the Devata for the whole thing?

@KeshavSrinivasan and for Devata it writes 1-16 verses as Purush Devata and 17-22 verses as Aditya devata..
@KeshavSrinivasan it's written in this format:

Rishi : Narayana Purusha ।1 - 16। , Uttara Narayana । 17 - 22।

@Tezz Hmm, Aditya Devata is interesting.

@KeshavSrinivasan Vishnu is ond of the Aditya among 33 devatas isn't it?...

@Tezz Yes, Vishnu's incarnation Vamana is the youngest Aditya and he's called Vishnu because of his pervasiveness.
@Tezz The Narayana Purusha thing isn't too surprising; when the Shatapathaa Brahmana describes the sage Narayana doing his famous Pancharatra Yagna, it calls him "Purusha Narayana".

4:30 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan yes, I know it...

@Tezz No, I haven't heard any such therapy

@Tezz But I'm interested in the fact that Uttara Narayana is listed as a Rishi. Perhaps the end of the Purusha Sukta was heard by someone other than sage Narayana. Like maybe Uttara Narayana refers to Narayana's brother Nara.

@Pandya if you haven't heard then speak now... you will hear just now... hehe...

?

@KeshavSrinivasan maybe... it may be another person... or Narayana of previous kalpas...

4:32 AM
@Tezz I think I may post a question about Uttara Narayana.

@Tezz @KeshavSrinivasan -may be animals communicating in there own language and humans at that time might be knowing abt that language. Or can interpret it. It seems posdible. Because at first we also were uttering animal like sounds.

@KeshavSrinivasan ok.. you may post it...

@Tezz Are you talking about?:
Past life regression is a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations, though others regard them as fantasies or delusions or a type of confabulation. Past-life regression is typically undertaken either in pursuit of a spiritual experience, or in a psychotherapeutic setting. Most advocates loosely adhere to beliefs about reincarnation, though religious traditions that incorporate reincarnation generally do not include the idea of repressed memories of past lives. The technique used during past-life regression involves the subject...

@Pandya yes...
@Pandya I don't think it is that much easy to know about past life...

@Pandya. Can across a site yesterday , it has lots of gujrathi language books collection for download pls check. swargarohan.org/download

4:36 AM
@Tezz By the way, I'm temporarily not posting any more questions on the site, because I'm kind of superstitious. I have 327 questions and 328 answers. If I post one more question now, my number of questions will be equal to my number of answers. So it will be like I have "spent" all of my contributions to the site, haha.

@SwiftPushkar however if it is true story... then these animals are likely to be form of devas...
@KeshavSrinivasan haha... if so then answer some questions... then ask it...

@Tezz Haha yeah, that's what I'm thinking of doing.
@Tezz Yeah, Devas may have wanted to use that as an opportunity to see Rama.

@KeshavSrinivasan I have just asked 22 questions upto now... and most of them were asked and answered instantly by me...
@KeshavSrinivasan you may answer questions like Did Ravana meet Parashurama?... as we discussed in Meta...

@Tezz@KeshavSrinivasan. Do you people know abt Vishnu Nadi Brahma Nadi that holds records abt our past Life. I think yagnvalkya told it to maitryee

@Tezz Oh, I haven't posted that many answers to my own questions. I used to that more often in the early days of the site, for instance my Rig Veda Anukramani question. And this question, which I am extremely proud of finding the answer to:

4:41 AM

Q: Did Trisiras predict his own death in a Vedic hymn?

Keshav SrinivasanTrisiras (AKA Vishwarupa) was the three-headed son of the divine architect Tvashta (AKA Vishwakarma). He was extremely devout, even serving as temporary guru of the gods when Brihaspati had abandoned the gods out of anger. But then Indra, seeing how powerful Trisiras was, and fearing that he wo...

@KeshavSrinivasan oh thank you for sharing it... It's interesting...
I also think...
//I wonder what his reaction was when he woke up from that dream//
@KeshavSrinivasan I think Indra also already knows he will surely kill Vrittasura before the fight...

@Tezz Haha yeah, that would have been scary.

As I preassume he would know Vedic samhita..
Like Bali who is going to be Indra in Sarvani Manvantara knows Vedic samhitas now...

@Tezz Yeah, that's true.
@Tezz By the way, now that we've confirmed that Dadhichi is the Rishi of the Isha Upanishad, it's amazing all the things he did in his life. He's the one that learned the Mahamrityunjaya mantra from Sukracharya, he's the one that taught the Madhu Vidya to the Ashwini Kumaras so they could reattach Vishnu's head, he's the Rishi of the Isha Upanishad, he gave up his life so his rib cage could be turned into the Vajra to kill Vritrasura, and Indra later used his horse head to kill 810 Asuras.
@Tezz By the way, can you tell me the Rishi for Vajasaneyi Samhita Chapter 23 Verse 18?

4:58 AM
@SwiftPushkar I have accidentally down voted your quest
Answer when trying to upvote from mobile
So, I have edited your answer and upvote again

@KeshavSrinivasan Madhuchhanda is Rishi for 5 to 31... so verse 18 Rishi is Madhuchhanda...
@KeshavSrinivasan Is Dadhichi learning Mahamrityunjaya mantra also written in Vedas.... ?...
@KeshavSrinivasan Yes, I also found Rishi Dadhichi achievements to be amazing...
@KeshavSrinivasan Dadhichi was devotee of Lord Shiva.. isn't it?..
@KeshavSrinivasan verse 18 contains "Hail!
Ambâ! Ambikâ! Ambâlikâ"... Are they Hailing Shakti/Durga?...

5:15 AM
@TriyugiNarayanMani. Ok no problem :)
@TheDestroyer Hi Good morning :)

@SwiftPushkar Good morning
@Tezz If Gananam Tva verse is for Ganapati, please post that as answer. After reading that answer, i was thinking it for Brihaspati.

@TheDestroyer in fact it is ambiguous... it is likely that it is not for Ganesha... but it can also be used for Ganesha as Devata is Brahmanaspati...

@Tezz No, Dadhichi learning Mahamrityunjaya mantra is only mentioned in the Shiva Purana.
@Tezz No, it's not meant as names of Shakti. It's being used as the stereotypical names of the wives of a queen. This is a mantra that's used in Ashwamedha Yagnas, as part of the ritual where the queen lies down with the horse.
@Tezz Yes, the Shiva Purana describes Dadhichi being the only guest at Daksha's Yagna who objects to Shiva not being invited.
@Tezz Oh, another thing I didn't mention is that Dadhichi is the father of the famous sage Pippalada.

5:31 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan Dadhichi also objects in Mahabharat...
@KeshavSrinivasan Shiva purana says Pipplada is incarnation of Lord Shiva...m

@Tezz Oh, I haven't heard of Pippalada being an incarnation of Shiva. Apart from Pippalada's appearance in various Upanishads, the only story of Pippalada I know of is him taking revenge for Dadhichi's death.

@KeshavSrinivasan I had also heard Pipplada Rishi encounter with Shani Deva...
But don't know whether this is scriptual or not...
@TheDestroyer do you know it?...
@KeshavSrinivasan Pipplada takes revenge from whom?..

@Tezz He tried to kill Indra, but then Shiva persuaded him not to.

@KeshavSrinivasan where is this story?...

@Tezz I think it's in the Skanda Purana somewhere.

5:39 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan oh... ok...

@Tezz It's basically a lesson on why revenge is bad, because even if you succeed it doesn't undo whatever loss you suffered in the first place.

@KeshavSrinivasan where is Dadhichi now... is he living in Heaven?..

@TheDestroyer I would like to thank you especially for , telling abt parva kaal and abt krishna river , so I am going to krishna River this weekend. I came to know abt that frm you :)

@SwiftPushkar you are referring to comment on Trayambakeshwara Jyotirlinga...

@Tezz Yes, he's in Devaloka now, or at least he was in Devaloka at some point. When Indra needed to kill 810 Asuras, he needed a new powerful weapon. So he went to Devaloka and asked Dadhichi if he had any more bones. Dadhichi said that his body was gone, but the horse head he used to teach the Ashwini Kumaras was still somewhere on Earth. So then Indra found the horse head in Kurukshetra and used it to kill the Asuras.

5:44 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan where is this story?..
@KeshavSrinivasan why were bone of Dadhichi unbreakable?...

@SwiftPushkar Where are you going? Which city?

@Tezz. not but @TheDestroyer told abt kanyagat parva which is going on now , so there is imoprtance of taking bath in krishna river in this parva , its like mahakumbha. Its related to vishnu & in GurucharitrA

@Tezz See my question and answer here:
3
Q: What scriptures describe Indra defeating Asuras using Dadhichi's old horse head?

Keshav SrinivasanAs you can see in the Rig Veda Anukramani in my answer here, Rig Veda Book 1 Hymn 84 was heard by the sage Gautama and it's addressed to Indra. In any case, here are two of the verses of the hymn: indro dadhīco asthabhirvṛtrāṇyapratiṣkutaḥ | jaghāna navatīrnava || ichannaśvasya yacchi...

@SwiftPushkar Pushkaram starts from tomorrow.
@SwiftPushkar All Sapta Rishis come here with their Sookshma Sareeras

@TheDestroyer. Narsinhawadi kolhapur MH

5:46 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan I know that... but I want detailed story avaliable in Itihasa and Purana describing it...

@Tezz The Shiva Purana says that Dadhichi recited the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and then Shiva appeared before him and blessed him with invincible bones.

@Tezz. Yes I am visiting River Krishna at Narsinhawadi which is place of Dattateya , in our State maharastra , kolhapur city

@SwiftPushkar Ok. Krishna river is nothing but Lord Vishnu.

@Tezz @TheDestroyer Yes :)

Q: What's story of Devi Savitri's curse on Trimurthi by which they were changed to Rivers?

The DestroyerWhen i was googling to know legend of Krishna River, i found this page, which states Legends state that the River Krishna is Lord Vishnu himself who turned into a river due to a curse on the Trimurti by Devi Savitri (Goddess Parvati). It is said that its tributaries Venna and Koyana ar...

@SwiftPushkar

5:49 AM
@Tezz I'm not sure if Indra fighting with Dadhichi's horse head is ever discussed in the Puranas. There are tons of Vedic stories that the Puranas don't discuss because those stories are entirely about Indra and don't connect to the Trimurthi.

@KeshavSrinivasan oh I read it... Thanks...! I had also watched same on Devon ke dev Mahadev series...

@TheDestroyer. I will check. You also visited na

@KeshavSrinivasan I think there should have been one.. Indra Purana... describing glory of Indra... hehe...

@SwiftPushkar Last year i participated in Godavari Puskaram in Nasik and tomorrow i will participate in Krishna.

@Tezz Haha, that would be interesting.

5:51 AM
@SwiftPushkar My city also has Krishna River and indeed it is biggest city on bank of River Krishna.

@Tezz By the way, if you want to know stories of Indra and other Vedic gods, I suggest you read Shaunaka's Brihaddevata.

@TheDestroyer. Ohh where @Kolhapur. There is also one place called khidrapur . You see that temple , that is marvalous architecture

@Tezz Reading the Brihaddevata is often the best way to understand a story described in the Samhitas.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes, I had downloaded it... read few pages and left it...

@TheDestroyer. And place called Haripur near sangali city

5:53 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan actually there is not so much use on knowing stories of Indra..

@SwiftPushkar Puskaram story is indeed interesting. A sage did tapasya for Shiva and asked for boon that All Devas and Rishis must present to "nourish" humans. But devas make agreement they only stay for 1st 12 days when Brihaspati enters each Rasi. For Kanya rasi, it is Krishna.
@SwiftPushkar Puskara means to nourish. Devas and Sapta Rishis take bath with Subtle bodies for 1st 12 days.

@TheDestroyer oh so... then is food distributed there?...

@Tezz Well, the stories may still be interesting. Like Indra's adventures having affairs with various women, haha

@Tezz Not food. But virtues and removing problems. Nourishing good virtues.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha..
@KeshavSrinivasan isn't Pushkara tirthasthala of Lord Vishnu?...

5:57 AM
@SwiftPushkar Is Panchagaganga the Krishna river?

@TheDestroyer where is Prayaga? ... In Lingashtakam there comes a verse Prayage Madhave Drishtwa...

@Tezz Parayaga is Allahabad. Uttar Pradesh
Allahabad (/əˈlɑːhəbɑːd/), also known as Prayag प्रयाग (/prəˈjɑːɡ/) and Ilahabad, is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Allahabad District, the most populous district in the state. As of 2011, Allahabad is the seventh most populous city in the state, fifteenth in the Northern India and thirty-sixth in India, with an estimated population of 1.11 million in the city and 1.21 million in its metropolitan region. In 2011 it was ranked the world's 130th fastest-growing city. Allahabad, in 2013, was ranked the third most liveable city in the state (after...
@Tezz Irony is it has Muslim name. Seculars in India call it Hindutva if we rename them to Sanskrit words.

@TheDestroyer. No is separate river

@TheDestroyer It's infuriating that a holy Hindu city is now named Allahabad.

@TheDestroyer. Krishna+Koyana sangam @karad and that river is known as only krishna afterwards , panchganga is small river in kolhapur dist.

6:01 AM
@KeshavSrinivasan haha...Allaha is one of the name of Durga... so, now lets understand Allaha as name of Godesses Durga.... haha....
@KeshavSrinivasan what is the story of prayaga?... what happened there...?

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes. Hope BJP will come to power in Uttar Pradesh and rename all those Urdu names to Sanskrit names.
@Tezz Described in detail in Matysa Purana.
I think in 3-4 chapters.

Lord Rama, the protagonist of the Ramayana, spent time at the Ashram of Sage Bharadwaj before travelling to nearby Chitrakoot.[

@Tezz Trimurti always stay there.

@TheDestroyer ok... I'll read it...

@SwiftPushkar So, Kolhapur has Krishna river? city or District?

6:04 AM
@TheDestroyer. Its a districts and city both

@Tezz Prayaga is where the Ganga and Yamuna rivers meet. It was the site of Bharadwaja's Ashram.

@SwiftPushkar ok. I asked where in Kolhapur, Krishna river is present?

@TheDestroyer @Tezz Famous Mahalaxmi temple is in kolhapur city

@KeshavSrinivasan Also, Saraswati, though it doesn't appear to our eyes. Tri-Veni Sanagamam. 3 river confluence.

@TheDestroyer Yeah, Saraswati used to come there before it went underground.

6:06 AM
@TheDestroyer. Not exactly at kolhapur but near from kolhapur at Narsinhawadi village

@TheDestroyer By the way, I have been to the Mana village, which is the only place where the Saraswati river is still above ground. It is the last village in India before the Chinese order. It is where Vyasa told the Mahabharata to Ganesha, and it is near the Swargarohini mountains where the Pandavas went to Devaloka.

@KeshavSrinivasan Are you sure about course of Saraswati river?
@KeshavSrinivasan Different people say different paths.

@TheDestroyer. So for this parva Narsinhawadi is important place which is near kolhapur city Maharastra

@TheDestroyer Yeah, the exact course of the Saraswati river is described in the Mahabharata, starting from Plaksha Prasravana and going to Vinasana.

@KeshavSrinivasan what do you think about course of Sarswati river... some also use course of Sarswati river to disprove Aryan Invasion theory..

6:11 AM
@TheDestroyer By the way, the Panchavimsha Brahmana says in one verse that the distance between Earth and Devaloka is the same as the length of the Saraswati river; see my question here:
3
Q: Why do the Brahmanas of the Vedas give multiple figures for the distance from Earth to Devaloka?

Keshav SrinivasanThe distance from the Earth to various heavenly bodies is mainly a subject discussed in the Puranas. In this answer, I discuss how the distance from the Earth to Devaloka is given as 100,000 Yojanas in this chapter of the Vishnu Purana. But there are a few verses in the Brahmanas of the Vedas wh...

@Tezz. That theory even rejected by bbc & most british scholar's now

@KeshavSrinivasan uttar Pradesh has many religious places but maintained very badly. Indeed UP and Bihar are making India poor and making GDP of India very low. Did you know what they say when devotees ask why Yamuna is dirt black? Answer will blow your mind.

@Tezz abt aryan invasion

@SwiftPushkar there are still so called scholars propagating it...

@KeshavSrinivasan They say Krishna is black and so, Yamuna is black.

6:13 AM
@TheDestroyer haha it's another Epic answer after... unstablity of Soul...

@Tezz. I think just leftover data on old blogs& sires , videos etc.

@Tezz Yeah. mathura temple management said these words when asked about pollution of Yamuna river in Mathura.

*sites

@SwiftPushkar Wikipedia is still writing it... so what to tell of other sites...

@TheDestroyer Haha, that's how we know it's the Kali Yuga.

6:15 AM
@Tezz no infian author is serious abt updating wikipefia so.....
@Tezz *indian

@SwiftPushkar they do not accept the updates if we make also.....

@SwiftPushkar @Tezz All those so called "SECULAR" "INTELLECTUALS" are communists. They want to wipe out Religions in India and want to make India a China.

Sorry abt spell's I am typing from phone so its hard to type

Historians are also communism influenced people. They do support Aryan Invasion theory.

@Tezz Yes false secular parties poltical like left

6:18 AM
@TheDestroyer yes, they do... we can't do anything ...

@Tezz @SwiftPushkar Sadly, Yes.

@Tezz. Same thing happened in Nepal

@KeshavSrinivasan Where it is mentioned about course of Sarswati river in Mahabharatha?

@Tezz @TheDestroyer its just politics Uk scholar's dont want india & its culture on internationale front

@SwiftPushkar what same thing?...

6:21 AM
@Tezz. I think oppressing hindu culture , I think ,font know much but read abt that in some blog some time ago
*don't

@SwiftPushkar Christian missionaries are spreading in wide rate...

@Tezz@TheDestroyer Most people now discard Aryan invasion BBC even made a documentary abt that "The invasion that never was" is the name

@SwiftPushkar Ok.. I'll watch it...

@Tezz they have done the same thing for Druid culture & people in England

@SwiftPushkar they do it.. their mentality is that type.....

10:43 AM
@Tezz Can you add significance of Srisailam gopuram and Kedanarth in Jyotirlinga answers?

10:53 AM
@TheDestroyer ok I'll search the Sanskrit verses of that first and will edit answers...

@Tezz Does Vedic University have Padma purana?
i have part 1 in Sanskrit.
Which part has that?

@TheDestroyer I think you have english version... search the word "Kedara"... you will get several results.. then you Will find it...

@Tezz only the version you gave is searchable. rest of the volumes are not searchable.

@TheDestroyer I think the version I gave you is complete Padma Purana... it is just one pdf but whole Padma Purana
...

11:09 AM
@Tezz Just saw. 1-7 parts.

11:30 AM
@TheDestroyer that 7 parts are Khandas and its upto Uttara Khanda... which is complete...

5 hours later…
4:26 PM
@Tezz By the way, now that you have the Shukla Yajur Veda Anukramani, can you post an answer to my question here:
7
Q: Has the Anukramani of the Shukla Yajur Veda ever been published in any form?

Keshav SrinivasanEach of the four Vedas consists of four parts: Samhitas, Brahmanas, Aranyakas and Upanishads. But the core of the Vedas is the Samhitas, which consist of verses heard directly from the gods by sages called Dhristas (literally "seers"). These verses were compiled by the sage Krishna Dwaipayana V...

@Tezz Just post a link to the PDF along with what pages of the PDF contain the Anukramani information.

@Tezz Yes. Sorry. That's full version.

@Tezz Also, you said the rishi of Vajasaneyi Samhita chapter 23 verse 18 is Madhuchandas, but what does it say for the Devata?
@Tezz "which temple is that where the statue roared?.." It's the Ranganatha temple in Sri Rangam, which I discuss in my question here:
1
Q: Why is Panguni Revati considered the "birthday" of Vishnu's Ranganatha form?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in this answer, the oldest Vishnu statue in the world, and probably the oldest Hindu statue in the world period, is the famous Ranganatha statue in Sri Rangam. The story of Ranganatha goes roughly as follows. Shortly after the birth of Brahma (which I discuss in this answer), Bra...

Hello
@TheDestroyer have you got the answer for this?

Q: Why women are not allowed to offer prayers at Shingnapur Shani Temple?

The DestroyerAs question says, why women are not allowed to offer prayers at Shingnapur Shani Temple, which is in Maharashtra? Is there any reason for this tradition or is this just a superstition?

@KrishnShweta Nope.

@Tezz Here's a picture of the Narasimha statue that roared:

@KrishnShweta

Q: References from scriptures about prohibition of menstruating women from temples, pujas etc

Nithin SridharI am doing a research on this topic and searching for references for it. I am especially looking for references to Ashaucha related to menses, any specific guideline regarding what actions are prohibited during menses due to ashaucha like doing puja, visiting temples etc. And any elaboration on t...

@KrishnShweta see this. We don't know this is authentic or not.

I'll look at that...

@KrishnShweta but Shani Shingapur authorities finally heeded to views of trupti desai. I think mere superstition.

@KrishnShweta Yeah. haha. Durmiki nama samvatsara is like this. What can anyone do?

and who is Durmiki nama samvatsara?

4:43 PM
@KrishnShweta In Telangana, pandits prophecy that Education and health sectors would be affected. And there was EAMCET Scam.
Telugu/Hindu new year.

@TheDestroyer @KrishnShweta I think it's horrible that the government is forcing the temple to let in women. In America, the government has no authority to tell religious institutions what they can or can't do. I think India needs to get rid of its Hindu Endowment Acts so that temples can be free to preserve their traditions.

@KeshavSrinivasan do you support this? During periods, they have more Rajas and can't concentrate on Gods. I think this could be the reason why they aren't allowed.

I think their may be few rules of that particular temples which the priests are following. Yes, we must find the reason why they are not allowing the women.
And women should take it easy... if they are resisting then leave.
because

@KrishnShweta But today, some women won't accept the reason.
@KrishnShweta They are adamant and they want equality. See how they are struggling to enter Shabarimala Temple.

entry of women in the Shani Shingnapur temple will lead to rise in crimes against them like rape. in that link that priest said this statement.

4:51 PM
@TheDestroyer Well, there are two separate issues. There's the issue of why woman who are menstruating aren't allowed in temples in general, which is that menstruation renders them impure. And then there's the issue of why all women regardless of whether they're menstruating are forbidden from the Shingnapur Shani temple, which is that the sight of that particular Shani statue is harmful to women.

And guys 1 thing.....

@TheDestroyer Either way, the government has no business telling temples that they have to allow women.

@KeshavSrinivasan Government is not interfering but Honorable Supreme Court of India is meddling with Hindu Temples.

@TheDestroyer Well, the Supreme Court is part of the government. The Courts should not be allowed to tell a temple who they can or can't admit.

Being girl.... We will never let even our shadow to fall around the Holy places at that Time.....
We always maintain distance.

4:54 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan Ha. Supreme court (Judiciary) is given somewhat higher importance.

@TheDestroyer That's ridiculous. Doesn't the Constitution of India offer protection to religious institutions to maintain their traditions?

I don't think menstruation is the reason for that.
And yes Govt should not involve.

@KeshavSrinivasan I am no expert in these matters. But as far as i know, both Judiciary and Legislature are equal, but i don't know why Supreme court decisions are considered as final.

@TheDestroyer In America we have the First Amendment, which ensures that religious freedom is completely protected from all interference by government institutions.

@KrishnShweta for what?
@KeshavSrinivasan In US, there are very few people, who attend churches or Religious sites. Most of them are Atheists.

4:59 PM
@TheDestroyer Well, atheists make up a greater percentage of America's population compared to India, but still most Americans are Christians.
@TheDestroyer And in urban areas people don't go to Church that much, but in rural areas, especially in the South, almost everyone goes to Church.

@KeshavSrinivasan I think Shani Deva causing bad to women is not a good logic or reason. Did anything happen to any women? Do we have any story regarding this?
@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah. I read on Quora about rural south. They go to churches.
@KeshavSrinivasan How many Hindu temples are there in your locality?

@TheDestroyer There's lots of Hindu temples near my house. There's a Vedanarayana temple, a Durga temple, a Balaji temple, a Shirdi Sai Baba temple, a Guruvayurappan temple, a Krishna temple, a Swaminarayan temple, a Sri Vaishnava Matham, and an Advaita ashram.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ohh. Where do you stay?

@TheDestroyer I live in New Jersey, which has a significant Indian population.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok. you know Hindu Right wing organizations such as Hindu Mahasabha members are doing Yagnas for Donald trump.

5:06 PM
@TheDestroyer And by the way, these aren't just tiny little temples. Like the Balaji temple has huge Gopurams to make it look just like the Tirupati temple.
@TheDestroyer Hindu right wingers are supporting Donald Trump? That's ridiculous.

@KeshavSrinivasan Yes. Because he said that he will ban Muslims (I think temporarily).
Haha.

@TheDestroyer Don't they realize that he doesn't even distinguish between Hindus and Muslims? Anyone who is dark-skinned looks scary to him.
@TheDestroyer By the way, here is a picture of the Balaji temple near my house:

@KeshavSrinivasan Wonderful :)

@KeshavSrinivasan Yeah. He even mocked Indian accent. But these right wingers liked his approach towards Muslims.

@TheDestroyer @KrishnShweta Here's another view of it:

5:13 PM
It is more clean than Indian temples.

@KrishnShweta temples are neat in India also.

@TheDestroyer Hindus who like Trump because of his approach towards Muslims should remember Niemoller's poem: hmd.org.uk/resources/poetry/…

@TheDestroyer yeah, might be..... I never went out of my city.

@KeshavSrinivasan exactly.
@KrishnShweta What city? Hyderabad?
@KrishnShweta Temples i visited in Hyderabad are cleaner.
@KeshavSrinivasan But according to some prophecies, trump is winning, as i said before.

@TheDestroyer Here is the Guruvayurappan temple near my house:

@KeshavSrinivasan what is meaning of Guruvayurappan?
@KeshavSrinivasan Ok. Bala Krishna.
@KeshavSrinivasan Are there any Shiva Temples?
@KrishnShweta i think we can't generalize.

@TheDestroyer Here's another view of it:

with extra effects. haha.

@TheDestroyer Yeah, that's an artistic shot that some American photographer did.

5:22 PM
@TheDestroyer when I visit to any temple, I'll take pics for you. :)
@KeshavSrinivasan 1st and 2nd pics were awesome.

@TheDestroyer Guruvayurappan is the Swayambhu statue of Krishna that Yashoda kept all her life to remember him. When she died Krishna brought the statue to Dwaraka. And then when Dwaraka was submerged the gods Brihaspati and Vayu rescued the statue and brought it somewhere else.

@KrishnShweta that's what i said, we can't generalize based on one city or few temples. Temples in Andhra, TamilNAdu are clean. I visited many temples in these two states.

And yahi se US k Balaji k Darshan.... Thank you @KeshavSrinivasan
@TheDestroyer agreed...

@KeshavSrinivasan Ohh.Ok.

@KrishnShweta You're welcome

5:26 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan Is this mentioned in any scriptures? about statue of Krishna?
@KeshavSrinivasan So, most of temples are Vaishnava Temples. Are there any Shiva Temples?

@TheDestroyer I don't think I have any Shiva temples in my area, although the Balaji temple, the Vedanarayana temple, and the Durga temples all have statues of Shiva. But the Arsha Vidya Ashram which is an Advaita Ashram located a little over 100 km from my house is a Dakshinamurthi temple.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok. Statue, not linga? Is Aarti allowed?

@TheDestroyer Sorry, I meant Linga.

@KeshavSrinivasan Ok.
@KeshavSrinivasan Who maintains that Advaita Ashramam? Divine life society?

@TheDestroyer No, it was run by a famous Advaita Swami named Swami Dayananda Saraswati who just died recently. He was even visited by Narendra Modi right before he died.

5:32 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan ok.

@TheDestroyer See here:
Swami Dayananda Saraswati (15 August 1930 – 23 September 2015) was a monk of the Hindu monastic order and a renowned traditional teacher of Advaita Vedanta, and founder of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. He was the spiritual Guru of prime minister Narendra Modi. == Biography == === Early life === Swamiji was born as Natarajan in Manjakudi – Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu on 15 August 1930 to Shri. Gopala Iyer and Smt. Vallambal (or Valliyambal). He was the eldest of four sons. His early schooling was done in the District Board School at Kodavasal. His father's death when he was eight, me...

@KeshavSrinivasan just saw.

@TheDestroyer I have gone to his Ashram and argued with him about Advaita on multiple occasions.

@KeshavSrinivasan I don't understand logic why these saints spread Hinduism to other countries without stabilizing the politics of India.

@TheDestroyer Well, he was the guru of Modi, so I suppose he did have some influence on Indian politics.

5:35 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan what did he say?
@KeshavSrinivasan I mean they could have done something to remove caste system. For example, those Rishis of Himalayas who have siddhis did nothing to counter attack Britishers.
@KeshavSrinivasan They stayed away from politics of India. If we could stabilize India, many people would follow Hinduism, like many Indians now are attracted to America and its culture.
although it is materialistic.

@TheDestroyer Well, that assumes that they're against the caste system. Neo-Advaitins like those in the Ramakrishna mission are against the caste system. But the the four Shankaracharyas, for instance, are all in favor of the caste system. It's good that we still have leaders who are upholding our traditions.

@KeshavSrinivasan Do you know Aghoras/Naga Sadhus defended Shiva Temples during Islamic invasions.

@TheDestroyer Oh, I haven't heard of that.

@KeshavSrinivasan haha. you support the present caste system. I oppose it. What do you think of Vajra Suchika Upanishad.

@TheDestroyer Yeah, we're not likely to agree on that subject.
@TheDestroyer That's not considered an authentic Upanishad.

5:42 PM
@KeshavSrinivasan haha. Expected the same answer.
@KeshavSrinivasan caste did exist in UK, China. But there , it was independent of religion.

@TheDestroyer is your real name is Shiva? ( if you don't mind it)

@KeshavSrinivasan It is really sad that Shankacharya mats only allow Brahmins, even after the incident of Shiva.
@KeshavSrinivasan Do you know the story of Shankara and Shiva?
@KrishnShweta No. My name is Anil.

@TheDestroyer Yeah, I know the story.

hold on.......
shankara and shiva aren't same?

@KeshavSrinivasan This caste system is doing more harm to Hindus than benefits. People are converting low caste people to other religions.
@KrishnShweta Sorry. I mean Adi Shankara and Lord Shiva.

5:47 PM
@KrishnShweta No, @TheDestroyer is speaking about Adi Shankaracharya's meeting with Shiva.

Both of you answered at the same time 0_0

@TheDestroyer We should not judge things by their consequences. We should follow the caste system and leave the consequences to Sriman Narayana. To quote James Russell Lowell, "But the soul is still oracular amid the market's din. List the ominous stern whisper from the Delphic cave within, 'They enslave their children's children who make compromise with sin.'" bartleby.com/42/805.html

@KrishnShweta When Adi Shankara takes dip in river (i think near Rishikesh), a low cste man comes and stand before him. Adishankara rebukes him that how dare he stand before him. Then that man changes his form to Shiva and says not to discriminate on appearance and caste.

@KrishnShweta haha

@KeshavSrinivasan or May be Srimannarayana wants to change this caste system. Who knows what Lord Vishnu wants? He even may incarnate partially to curb this.

5:53 PM
@TheDestroyer Well, he did incarnate as Buddha to change it, although that was more for a deceptive purpose.
@TheDestroyer In any case, the reason all the Shankaracharyas in history have been in favor of the caste system is that they're following the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya. Look at this section and subsequent sections of Adi Shankaracharya's Brahmasutra Bhashya: sacred-texts.com/hin/sbe34/sbe34103.htm

@KeshavSrinivasan haha. As a Sri Vaishnava you might think like this. But i think this is just karma. People must suffer. This is destined. May be after Dharma vanishes completely, he will take Kalki. Not able to understand His leelas.
@KeshavSrinivasan Vishnu is difficult to understand than Shiva. Shiva is easier to understand. Shiva shows no Maya. But Vishnu uses Maya.

@TheDestroyer Well, not just as a Sri Vaishnava; if you look at Adi Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya's commentaries on the Brahma Sutras, you will see disagreement on many subjects but you will see absolutely no disagreement on the caste system.
@TheDestroyer See my question here for more information:

Q: Do characters in the same Brahmavidya always have the same caste?

Keshav SrinivasanAs I discuss in the this answer, by far the most popular school of Hindu philosophy is the Vedanta school, which bases its tenets on the doctrines laid out in the Brahma Sutras, a work by the sage Vyasa which summarizes and systematizes the philosophical teachings of the Upanishads.
