I just completed a quest for Falk Firebeard in which I had to clear Wolfskull Cave. I cleared it completely, returned to him, got the reward. However, it is not marked as Cleared.
Similarly with Brinewatter Grotto: I killed everyone inside except the friendly Argonian, and it isn't Cleared.

I didn't think game-mechanics was that problematic, though perhaps it'd been appended to too many questions? I would see it also being very useful in the guide type usage.
It was pit-and-parcel basically the brother of strategy for gameplay questions; if you aren't asking how to tackle something, you'd be asking how things were working.
I feel that not every question needs a sub-tag - your generic gameplay questions (be it strategy or how things work) don't really need a tag to separate or differentiate them. They're easily handled by being identified by the game.
I used to think pretty much everything should be a two-tag job but I'm backing off that stance.
There remain aspects, such as combat and crafting and boss-fights just to name the ones I'm most fond of, where these do identify important aspects of games that are very useful to have as sections.
This does seem to help the problem a lot, but any tag that is shared between games is bound to outnumber the game eventually, so any question that legitimately has two non-game tags, is still broken. (Plus it looks bad.)

Ultimately weapons are just a piece of equipment, the reason that we had weapons for so long first is due to the predominance of games where the only piece of equipment is your weapon selection. Doesn't preclude the fact that they are ultimately still equipment.

Zelda 1 feels horribly dated these days. Zelda 2 was primarily side-scrolling. A Link to the Past you've already played. That leaves just 4 more: Link's Awakening DX (GBC), Oracle of Seasons (GBC), Oracle of Ages (GBC), and Minish Cap (GBA). There are two DS games that are kinda 2D, but they're sequels to one of the 3D ones.
Link's Awakening is by far the most difficult of the 4 I mentioned. Seasons and Ages are really meant to be played one after another, as they link to form a single continuous story.
Side note: The 3 GBC games use almost identical game engines.
