10:00 PM
running it on the raspi at church to display pictures on a mounted tv

That's a neat idea.

that runs as a cron job every hour, then "feh" is set to refresh automatically, so it picks up changes in the folder it is displaying

I turned my Raspberry Pi into an AirPlay server.
So I can walk into the room with my phone, press a button, and whatever my phone is playing gets pushed to the Pi (which is connected to the speakers).

cool

The only issue is that the WiFi on the Pi is a bit unreliable.

10:12 PM
Power sag unreliable, low profile card with no real antenna unreliable, or processor chokes unreliable?

oh then there is this:
and the screens in the mac version: pcworld.com/article/2880760/…

@hbdgaf Still trying to figure that out. I think it's got an adequate power supply. I'll recheck the math. I kind of doubt it's the antenna - it works fine when it is connected and we have a really really strong router.

But which will win?

^^ plz don't

user136984
Stay turned for more doggy news!

@Toroidal Will. You. Please. Stop. With. The. Dogs?

@NathanOsman Well, strong router can also be a problem too. If the card turns sensitivity down, a stronger router or card can make things worse.

@NathanOsman what resolution are you at?

On my desktop?
2x 1920x1080.

It cropped my spaces. It worked OOTB, but then stripped the spaces.

@NathanOsman Relevant. So, OK. Not just repetitive star-bait

@Toroidal:

What did I say about no more dog images?

user136984
@Fabby Yes, I've seen that one before! :D :P

Good! Now stop the cute dog pictures or I'll send my bears!

I was really only standing up for whoever that fellow was that said "I had a bad experience with a dog breed... just stop"

user136984
Well folks!

user136984
Good night! :)

@Mateo - did I tell you I have the pandas frame/csv/precompute/sync/cleaning-csv/cleaning-frame-dupe-columns/slamming-in-t‌o-database-with-flask-sqlalchemy parts done now?
seems like the more hurdles i cross, the more new hurdles crop up.

I remember you said you were looking back on some old parts, and making progress

Yeah, there was a LOT of code cleanup. There is still more to refactor/change. Anything that used to take parameters doesn't any more. The class holds an attribute and everything is set before anything gets called as a class.some_function()

10:37 PM
GitHub is timing out :|

There's still a lot of work to do, but it is getting more beautimus.
@NathanOsman Yeah, maybe they're getting DDoSed again.
I won't keep refreshing the page to see when it comes up though. That's part of the problem not the solution.

I was right: status.github.com
> "github.com is currently experiencing connectivity issues, we are investigating."

When they're down, they should totally have some random redirect that points you to an akami hosted animated gif of "github is down, here's a sandwich"

hm, the main page is up here

They might DDoS Akami then :P
@Mateo It's up and down.

10:43 PM
it's back up now.

I usually take it as a hint to go get a sandwich ;)

@NathanOsman I can't imagine the brass on someone trying to DoS a CDN. I mean... that would take an astronomical amount of bandwidth.

I suppose.
After all, with a CDN, you're dealing with static resources.

Didn't that come as part of the talk I referenced a long time ago about optimizing django? Make it all identical cache-able fetches?

11:34 PM
I have been trying to condense and improve this Stack Exchange Data Explorer query: data.stackexchange.com/askubuntu/query/17950/…
but for some reason, it is showing the counts both with and without the close reason.
Can anybody help improve it? Think I can post on Stack Overflow about an SQL query on Stack Exchange Data Explorer?

Hmm...

11:48 PM
@muru If I remove the rollup(), it works, but doesn't show the total.

11:58 PM
Whoa. My second Pi 2 video has over 250 views...
