SANTA... smart guy.
I have found myself intrigued by some different thyings lately, and answered some C and C++ question... but the voters there seem more discerning.
The only answer vote on this question is mine: codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/68667/…
and I don't know whether it's because the answers are bad, or just not good enough.
I intentionally did not include a full working implementation of my answer, but I think I now will.

I'm guessing that it is related to how popular the question is.
I only look at the questions I find interesting these days.
i.e. mostly

I see that... you're a bad example ;-)

yup ^^
these days I am

But, you vote nicely ;-)

Coding more, reading less.
I'm not voting, Santa is.

Also, I think there's cause to suggest a change to the dup-reason close message

Now, I'd better read those answers I just voted on....

@SimonAndréForsberg Yes, you had ;-)

Q: Is there an easier way to find the prime factors of a number?

Mertcan EkizI am trying to write a program which, given a number as an input, prints the prime factors AND the exponents of the prime factors of that number. OK I see that @JaDogg - That one also seems a little harsh, I'm certain you mean well and I see you added to it just now to make it more gentle.
A very simple rule of thumb I use constantly, is when using the English Present Simple Form, e.g., "do this", "change this", etc., just adding a simple "I would suggest/recommend that you do this" or whatever helps make things easier to swallow, especially for brand new users.

`foreach (var chr in sentence)`

@JeroenVannevel could you please give me an exported version of it (rss links) ? (if you can/want to)

Except said code is in StringSplitter, whose goal is to split a string into words

@Malachi Eh, there are a few more when you scroll down.

@Pimgd what are you saying? that the code is iterating by words and not characters?

3:49 PM
I'm saying your angle of review is invalid

you'll have to grab the links yourself

You cannot iterate through the words of a sentence in something that has to split a sentence into words

pass in a sentence variable and don't think it's a sentence, because it might not be a sentence

I use Feeder.co and this is the way they export it

my review says that he is going about the task in the wrong way

how do you define a word?

Q: Utility Library and Underscore Mixin - 2

fooAfter addressing all issues in the previous post I've re-factored the code. I'm looking for a code review on the code below. /*************************************************************************************************** Arc Arc occupies one user defined global variable. The library is...

As your review is now, you're making the statement that iterating over sentence character by character is wrong, and that one should iterate over the words instead.

yes

That might be decent advice, but their implementation does the following:

3:53 PM
that is the task at hand

- Take sentence
- Strip punctation whilst splitting to words
- Count words
It's not possible to replace iterating over the characters of a sentence to strip punctation and split to words with "iterate over the words"

why strip the punctuation?
don't and do not are not the same word
one is a contraction of two words.

"Because what I said is different, he said."
Not stripping punctation and naive split on space
leads to "said" 1x
and "said." 1x

so before you start you run a replace and then do what I said.

I don't have a problem with your advice, I have a problem with it being incomplete
actually..
> use String.Split and create a string array, maybe create a dictionary of the distinct words from the first array, then loop through the first loop and increment an integer value the corresponds to that word in the dictionary.
good advice
+
> When you are done looping then print out your Dictionary.
makes an alternative solution
is good, I guess
