2:06 PM
@pauska yeah, I work for an engineering firm up here, for about 1.5 months now. 15 minutes from the kids daycare, and we deal with Automotive, Entertainment (Amusement Park attractions), Military, and Aerospace as well as others
@ewwhite You were already pretty successful career-wise, so for you to say that must really mean something

@BigHomie I guess it's that nothing is guaranteed, and I have deeper issues to deal with (mentally, emotionally, confidence-wise) because of what's happened in my job past.

@ewwhite I know somebody that can help w/ that, btw :)

@BigHomie Oh?
:)
Keep hustling, though. I'm trying to convince a company that only hires full-time people to consider becoming a client.
In the fog of my disappointment last night, I wrote some stream-of-consciousness reply...
oops
I understand that the [company] team is close. That’s very apparent. And I can respect the desire to have a full-time dedicated resource on board. But I think things are a bit different on the systems engineering side (versus development). I’ve been working with small development teams, and see a certain trend when it comes to hiring and retaining systems folks:

- How do you find a sysadmin who has production experience, the right balance of deployment skills, good hardware chops, datacenter familiarity, internal/external customer soft-skills, who can learn quickly and is calm under pressure?
It seems to have resonated.

2:28 PM
Snap dude.

I guess I see a lot of turnover at certain firms... I followed it by saying that I'm less expensive than going through that cycle all over again.

@ewwhite You got it man. I remember when I used to shovel snow and cut grass when I was just a young child runnin' wild, so many no's, but I didn't give up, them yeses felt great, one day I made over $200 shoveling snow, in a single day

@ewwhite thats what i cannot understand, unless you do not want to have your employee working for you for years. At least in some part of german work"culture" it is reasonable to assume that someone will work for you for a few years, if you treat him right and increase his pay sometimes.
meh, rephrase , one minute plz :)
Sure, some will jump ship, but unless your workflow, or the atmosphere of the company is bad, "normally" you would stay at least 2 or so years.. and only so it does not show on your resume that you switch jobs that often.

@DennisNolte Americans are different. There's no safety net here. The bond between employer and employee is tenuous, and people work under bad conditions. I've definitely stressed over being fired... avoiding taking vacations... hidden documentation or information in order to be "needed".

@ewwhite i knew that it was different based on the hire/fire mentality , but well, i still thought they (employee vs employer) would at least work reasonable with each other on higher pay jobs (sure enough low skill/wage work sucks here or there)

2:40 PM
@DennisNolte Management isn't that good here. I don't know many people who are happy with their jobs.
even when I had sweet deals... pay was good, work was interesting... there would always be something that was really a deal-breaker.

there's no such thing as a perfect job i guess.
Overall mine until know were OK, after all i did choose them and quit myself rather than getting forced to search for something else.
Guess i was lucky.

like the boss who hid an illegal Canadian wife in the apartment next door... or the firm that had a major SEC fraud situation going on during my tenure... or the company that forced employees to attend lunchtime "Introduction to Christianity" discussions...
(that last thing is kinda illegal)

holy shit, guess the usual "not-quite legal software" is not even on your list of crap.

@DennisNolte that's so common he doesn't even notice anymore :)

Working for @DennisKaarsemaker seems to be the best solution

2:50 PM
@ewwhite I'm pretty sure that's the only solution.

@cole if it would not be in seattle i'd consider that too, but sadly i cant even answer a lot of the SF stuff so im most likely unqualified for the work he has.

@DennisNolte I'm under-qualified too
But I will be in Seattle soon.

@cole for all the shit you go through, i doubt that.

Ever been so busy that you can't decide what to work on first?

@NathanC do the simple tasks first, that makes your brain start to work.. after that the not so simple tasks get more easy.

2:55 PM
Whoa this company I have the interview with on Monday? Has some BIG customers.

@DennisNolte Meh. Or, better approach, slack off while you tell you manager he has to set your priorities.

Hah, none of this stuff's simple...have to create a project plan for this long-term project I've been working on since I basically started here.
(but wasn't part of my job description, go figure!)

i hate if someone needs to actually tell me what i need to prioritize..
in my opinion this means i failed at organize myself.
makes slacking more easy though :)

Like some major networking and telecomm customers.
pants = shat.

@cole don't , its most likely just some marketing branch having bought a sample for something.

2:57 PM
@DennisNolte not sure - they're a networking/VoIP monitoring company.

at least it is often like that on production .
@cole well, all the luck/skill for you on monday then.

@DennisNolte ...or it's a sign that you're being given too much work, and the cheap bastards you work for need to hire another couple employees already. Maybe that's just me, though.

@HopelessN00b true that.

@DennisNolte thx - they grilled me pretty good on Friday on the technical. I'm thinking Monday is more of a personality fit.
30 of the Fortune 50 are customers

nice.

:great, 300 line sql query and something is wrong with it (i did not write it and the guy who did is busy for 2 weeks minimum)..
fuck.

3:03 PM
@cole Not a bad place to be... money from the world's largest corporations, without necessarily having all the bullshit and bureaucracy of the world's largest companies.

@HopelessN00b indeed.

query finish time: 5min normally, yesterday: ~50min, now: 6h and still running.
and only about 100 different problems which could or could not relate..
that remembers me to finish my CCNA sometimes.. just in case someone actually needs to me to cisco stuff again.

@DennisNolte SQL server's obviously been hacked. Disconnect it form the network and re-image it ASAP.

@HopelessN00b ye sure.. if you would know how i have to work on that device you would wonder why it didn't burn down already.

I'm trying that out as my new standard response to everything... seems to be cutting down on the number of repeat complainants so far.

3:07 PM
@HopelessN00b hehe true though, cut the cable, no prob with getting attacked anymore.

@DennisNolte Sure, but more than that. "OH, you're having trouble finding a Word document? You've been hacked. We'll reimage your machine immediately. Can't login? Must be hacked. We'll reimage your machine immediately. Oh, your SQL server needs more disk space? Hacked. I'll reimage it right away."

@HopelessN00b HAAAAAAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

@HopelessN00b seriously? i get slapped if i would do that here.. not to mention i would be blamed for the hack , so naa :)
anyone ever worked in a comp with actual whitelisting proxy/ies, or nearly to none actuall internet access for "normal" employees?

@DennisNolte I do now.

@HopelessN00b obviously you lie, or you use SE from smartphone.

3:12 PM
@DennisNolte I work in a school, so the former.

@DennisNolte Kinda seriously. I say it, but no one takes me seriously when I do. Except for the really stupid users, who probably have infected themselves with something or other.

nice, thats good to hear.

@DennisNolte I'm not a normal employee, and I'm TSed into my home network. My ass may be at work, but that doesn't mean I have to use the office network. :)

@tombull89 ye but its a shitload of work having the list recent isn't it?
@HopelessN00b just make sure everything is encrypted.

@DennisNolte I think we're subscriobed to Barracuda's educational block list, so it gets updated for us.

3:15 PM
@DennisNolte Granted, we suck, but the way we handle that is to just add to the whitelist as users send in tickets for "can't access [site needed to do job]." If you go with a proxy service, they handle keeping the list up to date, which is why you keep paying them.

Dan
@HopelessN00b I azure for that, as I am right now
Mainly for privacy, rather than cheating

@Dan That's a good thought. Hmm. I bet I can even get my employer to pay for it, too. :)
> What is a good brand of dedicated NAS/NFS storage? Rack mount, for serving PHP application files.
<sigh>

@HopelessN00b wat

Q: NAS (NFS) hardware dedicated server

masykWhat is a good brand of dedicated NAS/NFS storage? Rack mount, for serving PHP application files. Heard about Synology, is it any good? I need HA and Raid with hot-spares. It have to be rack-mounted, fast and rock-stable.

ooh, good, I've been waiting to use this:

3:22 PM
@tombull89 haha, that is fantastic

Now avilable for your delete votes

@Dan do you have a Azure VM for that?

@Iain that was a pretty good movie tbh

This question is just too lazy to be left open. — HopelessN00b 1 min ago
@pauska Which movie was that? It's on the tip of my... brain.

3:30 PM
@HopelessN00b isn't it Gone Girl? I saw it five days ago

@pauska that was a good movie - just...a little too long.

Ah, that's right. Thanks.

but overall, I liked it.

@cole my gf also said that it was a bit long, but I didn't mind

Now available for your delete votes

3:35 PM
@pauska my girlfriend didn't seem to mind either -I just get antsy

@pauska It's from "The World's End" if I recall, though "Gone Girl" was good - oh and may as well bang on again about how good "Nightcrawler", which opens on Friday, is - it really is great

@Chopper3 oh yeah, I'm going to see Nightcrawler.. loved "Prisoners"

my daily wtf moment : 170k$/year arguing beeing low income..

someone needs to give me a devops dictionary.. this is getting too much

I think we just won buzzword bingo with that...

3:38 PM
@tombull89 yep :)

hmm, a £125 azure voucher. That's enough for a 2 cores, 7 GB RAM, 40 GB SSD VM for a month...
Seems high compared to something like a dedicated from Hetzner..

@pauska it's the creepiest most exhilarating film I've seen for years

Dan
@tombull89 Yup
@tombull89 Azure isn't really that cheap, tbh

3:56 PM
@Dan yeah, I'll use this trial for a month then likely cancel

Dan
@tombull89 I need to suss out the scheduling at some point, that would save me a few quid

I mean, Hetzner's Server Auction - i7-3930, 64GB RAM, 2x 3TB SATA disks for 90 Euro...plus the cost of a windows license thorough Hetzner...same(ish) cost.

Dan
Not sure you can compare, Azure is a platform and is really quite smart. Not really like a dedicated box somewhere

True, it was a very slick process getting the VM up and running

Dan
Well, obviously you can compare, and if you don't need the Azure-ness then of course it's fine
@tombull89 Did you see I purchased a C7000!
Talking of which, I need to call them

4:00 PM
@Dan yes you did you mentalist.

they're ace - if you struggle to move it bare in mind it can be 'split' in two

Dan
@Chopper3 You know I'd totally forgotten that! I've actually just spoke to them and they're in no mad rush, so pressure is off a little. I think a car and two blokes should do the trick. I'd rather go myself, as I want to ensure it's as pictured
I figured pulling the cards/fans/PSU's would bring it down to a manageable weight

@Dan yes that makes sense, and I too had forgotten you can split them, not a 2 second job but not awful either

Dan
@Chopper3 I'm really excited - Jane....less so

@Dan yeah, I can see that

Dan
4:15 PM
She gave me a dirty enough look the first time a DL360 did it's 100% fan thing

@Dan heard a C7k when they're powered on?

kce
How goes it fellow cloud-aficionados?

eating at my desk...and the consultant here just starts blowing his nose directly behind me
Thanks for grossing me out.

kce
@cole Lovely. Why at your desk? No cafeteria or quaint New England Clam Chowder shops nearby?

@tombull89 Damn, some of those servers are beefy for the prices
Too bad they're all overseas so latency would be bleh

Dan
4:18 PM
@Chopper3 Yeah, I've actually done a good amount of work with them - but all in 2011/2012

k

@kce cafeteria is kinda nasty and don't want to spend money to go out to eat lol

kce
@cole :(

I could have gone home, which now I'm regretting lol

Dan
@Chopper3 Need to see if I've got an iLO key knocking around. Must've had a few written down at some point

4:19 PM
It's a 12 minute drive.

Dan
@cole A 12 minute trip home, jesus - I don't even get that kind of commute when I stay close to where I'm working :D

oh, CentOS 6.6 has been released just now

@Dan yeah it's not bad.
This job I'm interviewing for on Monday...is 50+ minutes

@cole I always eat at my desk...half hour lunch doesn't give me much leeway.

@cole eating out the other night we got talking to two pre-op F2M transgenders next to us, really nice people and I told them how positive your story is, hope you don't mind

4:20 PM
@NathanC I have an hour
@Chopper3 aw thanks!

Although, I could have a full hour lunch if I stayed until 5 rather than 4:30, but meh
On that note...lunch before my head explodes

@NathanC yeah that's how I felt

Dan
@Chopper3 Done!

I was like "why do I have a headache...oh, food - I need some"

I'll delete those when you're sorted

Dan
4:22 PM
@Chopper3 Done! I really need to get you a beer at some point!

no issue mate

Dan
Delete it properly mate, else yuou can see history

forgotten how :)

I feel like I should say something to my boss about me wanting to leave...but I'm going to assume that's a terrible, terrible ideas.

@Chopper3 Need to poke a mod...you can't delete after some minutes

4:25 PM
there's a time and place for telling your boss, when you hand in your notice and not a moment earlier
2
ah yes - mods!!! would you delete my 'deleted' posts purleeez

Dan
@Chopper3 +1 to that, though I broke the code and it went okay.
But that was a special scenario and it still took a lot of weighing up

@Dan there's a limit to how many times you can do that though

@Chopper3 I feel bad, we're down two people (technically 3, because one guy is just useless)

Dan
@Chopper3 Well, I'd decided to leave, I just hadn't decided when - so I took the gamble when I figured I'd just deal with it if he put me on notice there and then

fair enough

Dan
4:27 PM
@cole Top tip of employment: Never feel bad! Your work is a means to an end

@Dan true - and they're kinda taking advantage of me so
I guess I shouldn't feel bad

kce
@Dan, @cole I have come to that realization recently as well.

@BigHomie I don't hate them. I could use a could 5 guys burger every so often. Just not a favorite. They'r okay. Way better than fast food chain garbage like Bking or McDs

kce
You are just exchanging your time for someone else's money. Might as well get the best exchange rate possible.

I know I'm going to get A LOT of shit

kce
4:29 PM
@Wesley Wait. You were talking about restaurant earlier?

for leaving again but things have really changed.

@kce I like having 5 guys.
8
But I don't like it that much.

kce
Ah.

Just a little bit, once in a while?

kce
@cole If they are at all professional it should only go as far as "We'll really miss you because you were awesome"

4:39 PM
@kce probably not

kce
@cole ?

@kce they'll be pissed.

kce
@cole So? Are they a bunch of babies? Are they going to yell at you?
I mean exactly what to expect to happen?

Our director likes to scream at people and slam doors.
So, I'm expecting that.
and for him to berate me in front of everyone.
At that point I think leaving on the spot isn't going to hurt me when I explain why I'm leaving on the spot, heh.

kce
@cole You do not, I repeat, do not deserve to be yelled at.

4:43 PM
It's out of control.

kce
If that's what happens, you can calmly say, "I don't deserve to be treated this way, and neither does anyone else" and walk out.
2
That's bonkers. How people like that can retain positions of authority is amazing.
I mean outside of the military.

he's ex Navy

kce
So what? You're not in the Navy and neither is he.

No I know.
I'm really, REALLY hoping I get this job on Monday.

kce
Turn in your written notice, make sure the appropriate HR people get a copy, and if it gets all unprofessional just walk
You will. You're awesome.

4:47 PM
hello

It's @mossy
@kce thanks man
It would be a really unique and cool opportunity
Seems like it's split between both external and internal stuff.

kce
@cole you said it was a Telco provider?

@kce monitoring for network/telecomm
SaaS
I don't know what the salary range is and I'm a bit nervous if I go through it all and love it - then it pays $30K less or something.

kce
@cole You'll just have to see. They'll be all like, we want to hop on the @coletrain. Here's 120k per year.

That'd be amazeballs
choo choo, mother fuckers.
My girlfriend was like you should still take it if it's $20K less - and I'm like "uh no"

kce
4:56 PM
@cole That's how you should finish your interview... "oh and one more thing... all aboard the @coletrain, choo, choo, muthafuckas!"

@kce I really should.
I haven't seen the position posted anywhere, not even their website. They contacted me directly through LinkedIn.

kce
That's another good sign.
BRB. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.

Q: How do I upgrade Redmine on Ubuntu 12.04?

m.bagattiniI have a fully configurated VM with Ubuntu 12.04 and Redmine 2.3.1; I want to upgrade to latest stable Redmine, 2.5: I can't do it via apt since it seems that 2.3.1 is latest available version in 12.04 repository. Is there a low-impact way to upgrade? Server is working with Redmine, backup and ma...

Well. Just.

No.

Dan
@cole Someone shouted at me once. Once. Put it this way - he came to me later that day and unreservedly apologised!

@Dan he usually apologizes for it - but he does it a lot

Dan
5:09 PM
@cole I just lay down the rules of how I'll be treated in future, though I do live in a country with actual employment laws

@Dan True.

kce
@Wesley I feel like SF is circling the drain.

5:38 PM
Anyone know of a good book/blog/anything that explains how ConfigMgr 2012 R2 and MDT 2013 work together? There's tons of stuff that explains how they work separately, but I haven't found much on how MDT works with ConfigMgr.

@Magellan Hope you don't have to drive this morning

Not into Seattle, at least. I'm on the eastside.

@Magellan Yeah the conditions are terrible. I took the bus this morning

40% chance of snow this weekend :(

5:47 PM
@cole 100% of tractor trailers jack knifing

I hope not.

@cole Oh it happens here often

@cole there's only a 40% chance of any snow at all this winter in Seattle. :)

@Magellan wish I could move before the snow came here.

soooooo...I just did a speed test from my Azure VM

5:57 PM
@jacob it's odd. Seen more of those in the past 2 weeks than in most years.

@tombull89 hot damn

Because the server's in the next rack over?

@Magellan 2ms, it's the next room :)

Azure is slick, but expensive. Only doing it because they are doing a £125 free credit as a trial.
...now I've got a VM. WTF do I do with it.

@tombull89 stuff? I need a VPN endpoint

6:05 PM
@tombull89 Torrent seedbox!

6:26 PM
@tombull89 Install some of that software-layer networking stuff on it and rent it out as a Network-as-a-Service dealie.

Looks like slack is AFU today
they sure have pathetic uptime for a chat service

7:01 PM
yep they're pretty shit

Really? Interesting. We use Slack and haven't had any troubles today. Had a couple hours of slow search in the last few months, but that's about it.

what's slack ?

@Iain Some chat/IM app that integrates with all the cool cloud services.

This is so cringeworthy:

Q: What is serving my nginx on the docker?

electI got the cheapest VPS on Digital Ocean. I followed this guide, everything works like a charm.. I read I can log into my dockers wi...

> I have basically no knowledge about dockers..
I should make a joke about pants.

7:17 PM
Damn kids these days, they're on the Docker!

I'll docker your face!
I'm really not actually helping the situation on the front page. =)
Unless making my 40 daily votes almost 100% down votes counts.

@Wesley it does

Dockers are a very comfortable brand of slacks that are popular among white collar workers. I have no idea what your lack of knowledge about pants has to do with setting up nginx. — HopelessN00b 26 secs ago

Wow - and the question that just came in on top of that one is worse.

@Wesley It definitely does. If we don't downvote crappy questions, how else would the posters know we want them to die in a fire?

7:20 PM
@HopelessN00b By killing them with fire?
ServerFault front page or broken sewer main? You decide!

So do something about it.

From a theoretical standpoint, it would be really fascinating to work for the Chinese government and see this kind of stuff being done:

Q: How do I check the IaaS image hasn't been compromised

James WongWe are deploying in Chinese datacentre, it took us a while to get our account approved with Aliyun (some kind of Amazon AWS). We are protecting all in and out data transfer but what guarantees that the OS itself hasn't been compromised? How do I check our Ubuntu has the same kernels and libs rel...

@RyJones I just starve everyone and cast withering glares at whoever passes by. :P

@Wesley the owners of SF/SO continue to abuse your kindness.

7:27 PM
@RyJones They didn't want me when I applied to Fog Creek last year either. =(

@Wesley that isn't what I mean, but OK.

I'm only here for the people in Comms Room. If we started an IRC channel and most of us congregated there, I'd probably never come back here.

@Wesley agreed

The trouble with that is it would stagnate quickly because we get new denizens that are awesome like @JennyD and @FalconMomot last year as a result of the main site's popularity and draw.
2

@Wesley Meh. Probably one of those things that's actually painfully dull in practice.

7:29 PM
@Wesley Ehem

An IRC channel would be a little invisible microcosm of BOFH life that would eventually dwindle as most do.

don't forget about this guy

@BigHomie Oh there you are! You too.

@Wesley Yeah, I've been part of communities that detached themselves from a larger... erm, cesspool, and that's exactly what happened. Stagnation, slow decline/death as no new blood comes in.

@Wesley the trouble is this chat is so much better than irc

7:30 PM
Didn't think I'd here you talk behind my back eh? I lurk harder than @ChrisS

@Iain But we can't ride net splits into The Bridge and kick ban everyone! How is that better?
:D

We finally hired someone!

@Wesley I can kick ban :)
or rather kick-mute

@Iain Not sure I'd agree... on IRC, you're not waiting on simple functionality for years because the SE developers don't consider chat a priority... you can script it up yourself.

@Iain +ops plz (Man I hated that back in IRC days. Every noob would ask that)
/msg Iain plz to be kick banning @DennisKaarsemaker

7:32 PM
@HopelessN00b agreed.

@Wesley Aww, thanks!

you can also have a private sidechannel on irc without creating a public logfile

@JennyD We're on complete opposite time schedules, but I read history a little bit when I cruise in. =)

There's that too... my nearly-criminal levels of depravity and slackitude were never in Google's cache on IRC.

@Wesley yeah, I usually get on in time to say goodnight to you at best :-)

7:34 PM
@JennyD I'm surprised you say that much to me, after reading what I contribute in my late nights. <_<
Sometimes I wish I was a drunk so I could have a good excuse for being who I am.
Whoever owns PauskaSock should share login info so we can make a bot using him

@Wesley Nah, you don't. It's not against the law to be weird and drive, but they really clamp down on drunk driving these days. :(

does slack have a free offering ?

@Wesley When I'm drunk, I search the chat logs for your sober-written posts and laugh with joy

@Iain: you don't want to use it. It sucks.

@Iain Yes

7:36 PM
oh right I've been trying hipchat though
should we move the comms room to slack ?

@MathiasR.Jessen A drunk Dane is less depraved than a sober American?

@Iain how about a google hangout?
2

@RyJones Just staring at each other's blank faces every day? :P
I would like to get away from Google.

@Wesley you can do text only hangouts, no?

Ugh, I hate that. No one offers just "support" any more. Now it's "Premium support," or for a few extra bucks a month, "Priority support."

7:38 PM
OK, fuck google then

@RyJones Yeah I think so, never really done it like that though.

@Wesley I'm not going to argue against that. btw, I'm Dutch now

I've never really gelled with google+ or whatever it's called - it's like the Russian steppe in winter

@MathiasR.Jessen Are you getting citizenship or... wait... how does that work within the EU?

@Iain set up a slack thingy and I'll hang out there, too

7:38 PM
@Wesley "drunk" is a crap excuse for people who don't want to face their inner weirdness
and on that note, my turn to say goodnight

@JennyD Night!

@JennyD be safe

@JennyD sov gott

I wonder if I can be logged in to Slack twice in one browser session with two different credentials

@JennyD Hey! That has nothing to do with why I drink. I drink because I don't want to face my life sober. :p

7:41 PM
Man, I need to make a simple webpage that literally says who's on call this week and then auto-cycles the names

@JennyD or deal with everyday problems

Because no one can seem to keep track.

@cole Exchange Calendar?

@cole Yes, you do. Excellent idea. When you finish, post it here for me to steal code review purposes.

@BigHomie we're a Domino shop

7:42 PM
hahaha oh yeah

I don't even know how I'd do this - I'm not web guy (....or programmer)

Domino no do shared calendars?
I hope they'll be gentle

@BigHomie no - you have to use a third party product
I'm not kidding.

@cole while { true; $on-call-bitch = not me;} end while;

lol

Wowza!

@cole and you have no programming skills?

@BigHomie well, minimal.

@RyJones ....I have a nice metal plane with adjustable blade angle. It was my grandfather's. I think it cost him maybe $3

@Wesley Naah, I just feel at home here in the Netherlands and consider myself Dutch pro tem. A number of EU free-market directives force the sovereign governments to "not hinder the free mobility of labor", so basically I can carry my danish citizenship around all the EU/EEC countries and have the same legal rights in any labor market as the native population, without discrimination

7:45 PM
so if they knock a few decimal places off their price I'll consider those tools :P

@MathiasR.Jessen is that like a Nation-wide union?

@HopelessN00b What disgusting language are you using where the condition goes inside the block? Are you some kind of syntactic heathen?

@voretaq7 Scala. Not even once.

@BigHomie Well, yes, that is exactly what the EU is, a supranational union

@BigHomie Basically it makes european countries like states, as far as employment is concerned.
(please don't kill me)

7:47 PM
@voretaq7 I just wasn't paying attention. Nor was I particularly concerned about it compiling. :p

@BigHomie I probably don't lurk as much as you think.

:)

@HopelessN00b . . . <SHOVES PARSER ERROR UP YOUR ASS SIDEWAYS>

Wowee.

7:50 PM
Okay, time for some death metal.

@Wesley Oh are you dealing with email too?!

@voretaq7 Meh. Markdown. Like I'd want to compile anything that had been run through markdown first.

@Basil And trade for that matter, customs/toll does not apply to most transactions and purchases across intra-EU borders

I'm waiting for a goddamn Zimbra license. I'm getting steadily more enraged every minute I wait...

@RyJones waiting for their confirmation email

7:51 PM
@Iain yay

we'll see

@voretaq7 ...kind of. Customers who email tickets in when their instances hit well defined and well published limits that they were warned about multiple times in advance and still ran their shit off the rails and "oh by the way we have an investor meeting in two days and we went viral so why aren't our databases databasing?"

@RyJones you can fork the software but you can't fork the people

@Iain my biggest beef is the "fuck you guys" attitude SO has towards people that want to make it better.

@RyJones s/SO/SF/ and I agree

7:53 PM
Slack has some awesome integrations BTW
Like, really awesome.
And web hooks and strippers and poker!
Honestly if we started hanging there more, I think we could have some good times with all the customization possibilities.

Some days SF is so full of fail I feel like deleting my account to dissociate myself from it

@Iain By SO I mean "SO and all sister sites". The tools I have as a moderator at reddit are so much more powerful, I don't see how you guys tolerate it.
@Iain I did delete all of my accounts except SO and SF.

SE are very every question is a

Q: find max supported disk on hp server using hpacucli

user3579198hi do I find max supported disk on Dell server (centos) using hpacucli. I tried lspci, lsusb, but i don't know the right way. System Information Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Product Name: PowerEdge R710 Base Board Information Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Product Name: 00NH4P Version:...

@Iain that's nice. It's clear the designers abandoned ship early and don't have to live with the fruit of the decisions they made. Furthermore, they're unwilling to re-evaluate those decisions, so the quality continues to go down.

7:57 PM

Quick everyone go and upvote Ed's answer

No, it's someone asking about HP... on a Dell server.

@RyJones The designers are still around they just design for footfall because that's all that matters now no matter what their high falluten words say
