Please stop sockpuppeting. I see that this user and this user are both sock puppets of yours. This is a violation of the rules; I have flagged your account. — Doorknob of Snow 17 secs ago
@mniip we have a sockpuppet situation...

Heh, I don't think I've seen this being called "sockpuppeting" anywhere

Q: A sockpuppet situation

Doorknob of SnowThis user is violating the rules - he is asking a bunch of terrible questions with these two sockpuppets: A, B. Notice that the sockpuppets I linked have 3 and 4 questions respectively, each of which has been answered by this user (and accepted). How could we go about fixing this? Our three mode...

@mniip On meta.SO, that's usually what we call it.

How much rep does one need to flag a user? I don't see a similarly looking button anywhere...

@mniip Flag one of their posts as "other."

I see, thanks

Hi there
have basic C program question..
can anybody help me with the same ?

@RahulPatil Why did you come to the Code Golf chat room for that...?

Because I think Code means coder. isn't it ?

it's "golf" though
code golf is about making code as short as possible

:D
Please once check this.. paste.ubuntu.com/6897778
and let me know why this is not working..
it's compile successfully with not errors

@RahulPatil No, we're not going to help you with C code in a code golf chatroom...

3:52 PM
@DoorknobofSnow thanks.. but why not ?

@RahulPatil Because helping with C code has nothing to do with code golf...

Ok..

:P
here's my version main(){puts("1\n*11\n**111\n***1111\n****11111");}
I'll assume you messed the comparison signs up
Well you'd have to learn to read better. putchar/puts isn't the issue. Just swap > with < everywhere

@Rahul Okay, but we're not going to help. This is a Code Golf chatroom. Please stop asking here; go to a chatroom on Stack Overflow.

@DoorknobofSnow Thanks ... :D

I'd like to chime with a suggesting that helping a golfer with a particular problem in a language new to them is different from providing general language help to people who don't share our core interest.
But I imagine that everyone knows that.

yeah. I believe helping with golfing is quite allowed here

I think I have a cool idea for a question
for a given set of IPs (v4 I guess), generate the shortest possible list of CIDR bans that ban everything but the listed IPs

nice one

but that is subnet bans, not CIDR
CIDR is more flexible and produces a way shorter banlist

what does it support?

hmm? CIDR?
subnet bans can only be /8 /24 /32. CIDR can be anything from /0 to /32
I already have a draft of an algorithm for the task

This thing is terrible to debug

9:20 PM
@mniip No it isn't. There's no mention of subnets or constraints on m in the question.

9:30 PM
Hmm yeah, i just ran the python3 answer...
That's quite saddening... I have a 2-page question typed out
And I guess the less strict i/o format, and "shortest" as a requirement doesn't make it different enough, then

On a point of etiquette, would it be considered terrible bad form to post a question I wouldn't have a clue how to answer myself?

@PeterTaylor if I made the question about IPv6, and made "shortest" a requirement, would that count as an entirely new question?
