@Kaobear - Hey, Kaobear. Thanks for your answer. I'm actually in a polyamorous relationship as well, and have thought often about these issues. Would you mind, if you agreed and found it appropriate of course, editing your answer to be less personal (referring to me specifically, e.g. offering help) and more objective in language, as if you were writing a Wikipedia entry?
@Kaobear - The reason is that—though I appreciate your answer and do find value in it—I asked my question mainly to pose it in the site's beta and to help others understand what I believe to be are popular misconceptions. In other words, I understand more than I let on ;-) I'm trying to ask a question from a typical person's perspective. If you feel your answer is appropriate as it is though, no problem—it's not a big deal.
