Root Access

I have a laptop with Windows 7. I set all the usual volume control are at max (via the mixer), but there is a separate (hardware?) volume bar that is displayed whenever I change the volume, and it is at 50%. Is there something I'm missing? How can I increase the volume further? Edit - I'm offer...

...would probably be a useful but they've got enough on their plate looking after their own site.

historically mods on any site were a mod on Meta.SO, which is why some SU and SF mods are MSO mods

but then every site got it's own meta and another 40 sites opened, so that stopped
