@Braiam: YOU WILL RUE NOT VOTING FOR ME. RUE I SAY RUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
adds a NAA flag instead

@JourneymanGeek I already flaged it :P

actually if I had a diamond, I'd have to politely respond to all of the people on Arqade who target abuse at me for my omnipresence
so many newbies confuse me for a mod over there

soon I will reclaim my place as #1 most active user on meta.gaming

@Braiam i got a neg vote :(

12:10 AM
mm?

downvote :( :(

oh yeah
I can downvote all of your content

in the calc question?

brb downvoting @Braiam

yeah, do a serial... and get reversed in couple hours :P

12:11 AM
@Braiam yeah :(

probably because is difficult to do... following all your restrictions

@Braiam no, I don't do serial voting, I do the maximum amount of voting I can do before it gets rolled back
and I do it every day for MONTHS

@rajagenupula you probably would want to do something like this stackoverflow.com/a/1177511/792066
(found thanks to terdon and my pirate behavior in the SE network D:)

????

instead of enter you press Ctrl + J and what you have entered gets executed ;)

12:20 AM
where is my master @Oli ?

12:55 AM
@rajagenupula I trow there my answer too D:

@Braiam @kalina I completely agree.
@Braiam Also, proper formatting ;)
Everyone gets in trouble for that at one time or another..

@Seth I don't make sence of that one...

@Braiam thats nice +1 . looking on it.

@Braiam There are two types of code formatting: inline and whole line. Whole line looks better for code on it's own line ;)

@Seth I used that because OP's answer was impossible to make sense, I would have rolled back the thing as it was...

1:05 AM
Why did you put the code on it's own line then?
:O Windows 8.1 includes double-tap to right click now \o/

@Seth I know there is an answer there... but is so difficult to "extract" it...

@Braiam Yeah, yeah.

> Installed Ubuntu 13.13 about 10 days ago
which is that????
the 13 month???

ha ha

O_o
This time of year, I like to spend just 5 minutes a day, thinking about all the poor developers animating snowy website backgrounds.
LOL

1:18 AM
@Seth WHO'S BAD!
oh! the dog (aka @JourneymanGeek) is answering questions in AU D:

I did that one year.
And I've never done it since.

What's that? Answer questions? Or the snowy background?

@foss what can be done with this one? can we hope OP comes around?

@Seth: snowy background.

1:25 AM
@NathanOsman Ah.

hey @NathanOsman , when I say that an autoflag is invalid... what happens?

A: Why don't metals bond when touched together?

user25701I think that mere touching does not bring the surfaces close enough. The surface of a metal is not perfect usually. Maybe it has an oxide layer that resists any kind of reaction. If the metal is extremely pure and if you bring two pieces of it extremely close together, then they will join togethe...

@Braiam I love that question :D
But what's this?

Redditted?

Mmmm.. There's a notice for that? That doesn't exactly make sense.

@Seth well, the question was closed and reopended 8 times in two days... it doesn't have to make sence :(

Guys, I have a quick question that's too opiniony for the site.
I'm running 13.04 on AMD64 hardware with an xfs root filesystem and ext4 /home. Should I accept the automatic upgrade to 13.10?
I know Ubuntu upgrades don't always go smoothly, so thought I'd better check first if people are having problems with it.

I'm sorry, everybody here is dead right now... please leave a requiem after the tone.
beep

@DanHulme I've learned from bitter experience NEVER to accept the automatic upgrade. Always image backup first before invoking the upgrade.
... and in addition - never upgrade on day 1 ... always wait until at least a month has elapsed from the release date.

I'm not worried about losing data, since everything I want to keep is backed up to a NAS. I just want to minimise the amount of faff.
@fossfreedom Yeah, why do you think I'm only asking now? ;-) I've been getting prompts about it for weeks.

My main laptop is 12.04 - so I only get bothered with upgrade requests every 27 months.

1:06 PM
@DanHulme make sure notify me setting as follow:
If you selected notify me for any new version you will get annoying notification.
Sorry, I have a really bad connection

@Achu how bad is it?

very bad! it took me minutes to upload the above picture ;)

not nice ... feel sorry for you. Emigrate!

1:29 PM
I was trying to show you speedtest.net result but i get Latency test error i live in the offline world!

Oli
@DanHulme A LiveCD is a quickish way of finding out if the basics work. You'd have to manually mount the filesystem but you'd be able to see if it worked (and benchmark it)

2:34 PM
@Oli master , why did you closed my question ?

Oli
@rajagenupula Because it was a duplicate

there is no support in the duplicate for 13.10
@Oli and I am expecting your answer my terminal calculator post. did you even saw it once ?
at my **

Oli
It says "11.10 and above". That includes 13.10 implicitly. If that doesn't work (per my comment) you should explain what you've tried and what didn't work.
@rajagenupula I saw it but it looks pretty answered.

@Oli Master , after posting first link I gave it you with all due respect. :)

hi, can someone help me a little bit with alsa?

2:41 PM
@Ello if its a general question - fire away. If it requires detail - best raise a question on the site and someone can devote more time to answer it.

i tried to make questions on the site, i guessed i started a few one in the past 10 days but i didnt get a solution
i really need to get this to work

@Braiam yes for me :P

the only thing i need to accomplish is to create a virtual device so applications can use it (e.g. moc). the output of the virtual device should be redirected to the input of the physical device

3:40 PM
is this guy even using Ubuntu? askubuntu.com/q/379867/169736

4:16 PM
why do people close vote that it belongs on another site in the SE network? askubuntu.com/q/379867/10698
that makes no sense since it's a problem with a service, not something that fit in SE!
read my comment on the question

@Alvar the important part is that "Is not about Ubuntu'" ;)

@Braiam well not really
the important part that this shouldn't be on any SE site

Q: Require/Suggest "Informed" badge for asking questions?

RmanoI was thinking about it after having had some harsh answer to some comment or edit of a question. Q: Ubuntu - Install Options

PhorceI have three possibilities to installing and running Ubuntu as my main operating system. 1) Install onto an external SSD: Obviously, this would mean installing onto the External SSD and connecting through USB. I would have my main drive at start up select this driver, if not, it will select the ...

what the problem ?? lost your toy? did you check under the fridge?

Resolution issues
I'm running Ubuntu on my chromebook at 1440x960 so I can actually read things, but the text in the top toolbar (i.e. the title text of the windows) is HUGE.
It feels like a drill instructor is narrating my browsing
I've manually overridden the font to 4pt, but that feels like a temp fix.

Argh!
besbuy.ca != bestbuy.ca

@NathanOsman to the rescue ! sorry I'm dealing with stupid issues in Windows atm

@rlemon Ah, good timing then.

7:53 PM
I always get excited to see fellow Canadians on SO
I feel like the site is mostly asia / USA / UK specific

wait, there are penguins in Canada?

not that I have a problem with that, I just don't see many other Canadians

Yes. Actually, there are. I saw some at the zoo earlier this year.

@Braiam there are more in Pittsburgh

^--- took that one on my phone camera.

7:57 PM
what zoo was that?

Calgary.

Toronto zoo had polar bears, no penguins
I was also there for the Pandas
that was nice

Winnipeg was getting polar bears, IIRC.

their aquariums made me sad :( Horrific conditions

We have a nice aquarium out here.

7:58 PM
if you know anything about reefs... the entire reef was made up of aptasia
I couldn't even see the rocks beneath the thick carpet of them
the other corals were all dead or dying because of the aptasia

Ouch.

they had species that should never be housed together.
they had a lionfish in a tank with no cover / hiding that was maybe 60 gallons big
he looked so depressed
almost everything else at the zoo was fine. but the aquarium... and it was only sad because I know about them. other people were all "oooo look at that"
secretly in my head i'm thinking "you are ooo'ing the effing dandylion of the sea!"
anyways... @SomeKittens has display issues. I am off topic.

What kind of issues?

8:28 PM
Fonts

8:39 PM
Basically, my system fonts are behaving like the resolution is 2560x1700, but it's actually 1440x960

@Braiam are you free ?

alright, kinda fixed.

8:57 PM
@rajagenupula having a snack, so tell me?

9:23 PM
no time for UDS today :(
No, this is still a duplicate of the 404 PPA question here. — Seth 6 secs ago
Right?

UDS where ?
may I participate ?
@Seth

@rajagenupula Here: uds.ubuntu.com/agenda
@rajagenupula Yes.

Thank you . I never participated one
and how can i join in it ?

@Seth is not a ppa, nor duplicated, is a 404 on the extras repositories that are not available in trusty ;)

Ah. OK. Will remove comment.
Now that I look at it.. Silly me.

9:53 PM
@Seth yeh... silly U :P

10:05 PM
What happen to your picture @chaskes ?

1 hour later…
@Braiam no
