Hi folks
I'd like to ask, is it right to say "stoking coal" in sense "coal for stoking furnace"?
Or something similar to "furnace"

you can stoke coal, yes
it would be more usual to say "stoking the coals"
"She is stoking the coals to keep the fire hot"

@MattE.Эллен OK, and what about using "stoking" to describe the purpose or the particular coal?

I've never heard of stoking as a type of coal
you can do it, but I don't think it's a normal way to describe coal. I could be wrong as I don't work in an industry where stoking is a regular behaviour

Well, I'm not talking about some special type of coal, I'm just trying to figure out how "stoking" is understood if used with a noun. coal is just an example word. I actually doubt that "stoking coal" is understood as "the process of stoking coal", while I need something that would mean "coal for stoking furnace".

would that be furnace coal?
maybe you should ask people who put coal into a furnace?

5:57 PM
@MattE.Эллен OK, how would you understand the expression "stoking wood"? "Wood used for stoking something" or "the process of stoking the wood itself" (this sounds as non-sense to me)?

I wouldn't understand it, without an explanation. stoking isn't usually used as an adjective

@MattE.Эллен Got it, thanks for explaining.

no probs

@MattE.Эллен I, on the other hand, am totally stoked.

@Mitch yeah? throw another tinny on the baabie

@MattE.Эллен OW! punches back
Wait...what's a tinny?

@Mitch can of beer, I think

Is that Stralian for ... tin?
Oh
