When searching the web for information about how to configure the default resolution and color depth for RealVNC sessions, I always come across stuff that talks about passing commandline parameters to vncserver, such as vncserver -geometry 1024x768 or something. However, I have my system configu...

whew. i've just spent 2 days researching the answer to this one because RealVNC's docs are confusing and somewhat lacking

one might think that resolution would be an important consideration for VNC software. Apparently, not so important for RealVNC. it's virtually a footnote

Strong data-typing is a crutch. Get yourself free. Otherwise you'll wind up like Java. And nobody wants that.

ECMAScript 6 spec has functions that returned typed integers

so you can type things for efficiency, but you don't have to, and it's basically so compilers can write fast javascript

I figure humans won't need to do that much

I think even @Cerberus would agree that Eich's opinions about gay marriage, while not in the mainstream, ought to be protected speech. Otherwise we have no freedom whatsoever.

Remember, if you think voicing certain unpopular opinions ought to be grounds for persecution, don't be surprised what happens to you once the popularity pendulum swings the other way.

The way I see it, it's difficult to have a homophobe in charge of a company that is not homophobic, because it might prevent him from making sensible hiring and firing decisions. But if you need their opinion on something that they knows a lot about, probably best to ask them. Or maybe being anti gay marriage wouldn't have been a problem for hiring decisions, I don't know. Perhaps he's all "gay's fine, but they can't marry" or something. I dunno. It's complicated
