@heather Depends on exactly which part you were referring to. We don't have any rules that prohibit using swear words outright, if that's what you meant, but using them does often tend to push a statement a little closer to violating "be nice" than it otherwise would be.
@heather Well, yes, the part about inappropriate language is still covered by the Be Nice policy. Once again, the issue as such is not profanity, but being rude to other users. But the rules are not different for you than for anyone else. Please don't think that it's different for you than for anyone else.
@BalarkaSen Essentially a theory that declares that all the results of measurement exist prior to measurement, contrary to the standard interpretation of QM where the results only exist as a probability distribution prior to measurement.
@ACuriousMind re tricky language "prior to measurement," there are some more exotic LHV theories that allow for a lot of unexpected stuff that is not exactly deterministic (in the measurements). they allow some degree of randomness but still have local hidden variables. actually a simple example would be eg a slot machine with a PRNG etc... less trivially, the other stuff circulating in physics research lately is pilot wave hydrodynamics.
@heather You said "I'm a kid". I don't want you to feel any less because of that. That you may be a "kid" is utterly irrelevant in the context of SE. If you don't feel that that's an issue, just continue as before.
@0celo7 Don't push it. It's funny but it's also somewhat inappropriate, and had you made that statement to a random user I'd hav deleted it without hesitation. This is what I meant by "we view the evolution of room culture with concern".
@0celo7 well, the goal is to keep people from posting inappropriate messages in the first place. If we just delete the messages, that's not as useful as telling people that they're inappropriate, so those people can learn not to post such things in the future.
@heather BTW, I think you did a great job yesterday in the meta chat. You had a very mature debate with DZ and ACM. I didnt expect that from a 14 yo person :-)
@0celo7 Well, I could do that. But that would just be what has been repeatedly been criticized: Exercising my moderator powers without any regard for how it will be perceived. I think that message "skirts the line". It's not offensive in its own right, but it sets a bad precedent for what tone of message is common here. I'd much rather you agree that it's maybe not what we want random onlookers to see than just delete it.
@AccidentalFourierTransform eh... thanks, I guess? But if we get to the point of deleting messages, we're beyond caring whether the poster thinks it's okay.
@DavidZ I know. I was referring to ACM's comment " But that would just be what has been repeatedly been criticized". I won't complain about my messages being deleted, and nobody else should.
@AccidentalFourierTransform I'd also much rather that you don't post messages worthy of deletion in the first place ;) If you're kinda on the fence, that's...fine, sometimes, but don't post things you expect to be deleted.
@ACuriousMind-" peer review is off-topic here." doesn't apply anymore. By the way, for a curious mind, you do not ask very many questions. ;-) — descheleschilder22 mins ago
