@vzn My first reaction was "this sounds awfully similar to those Lorentz violation tests that were done for photon propagation." But their faq refutes that.

That said, it's not too specific on what the effect actually is, just on what it isn't

It also worries me that their calculations simultaneously show they're looking for attometer variations but claim it can be done with half and hour of data collecting.

Very few/no papers published, but they've gone to many conferences to hype their work. Example presentation
Whence x is a variable, and given e=mc^2 and F=Gm1m2/r^2 and E/F=x, is approximately 59,981,482,620,609,230,385,376,000,000 the number that the equation (mcc/Gm1m2/r^2=x) reduces to?
@firtree not really. Just don't post complete answers, as Kyle and Danu already pointed out, but other than that you're allowed to answer a homework-llike question however you want.
My rule of thumb is that I will answer a specific conceptual question, but not help the asker any more than they've helped themselves, proportionally to what they had to do, very roughly speaking. In other words, if they've gotten themselves 50% of the way to an answer, I'll help them through what feels like 50% of the remaining half, so they will then be 75% of the way there. If they've done 30%, I'll help them with 30% of the remaining 70%. And so on.

But again that's very rough. Of course one can't really measure the amount of help given, I just use that as a guideline.
Can people be able to increase the amount of bounty after they put the bounty on a question? If there isn't, I think it should be because when a question still stays unanswered after you put a bounty on it, you should be able to add more bounty to get the question answered more quickly. Isn't the...
@Danu Well then, perhaps we really are nicer ;) Might also be that they get more questions/activity there, so perhaps they've grown tired of math questions in chat, who knows?
@DavidZ I'd be very interested to see the detailed and elaborate answer you must give to someone who's only done 1% of the solution. A good 0.99% of the rest of the way. That should help.
On a different note, is it wrong of me to enjoy looking through the active page for highly viewed posts with more than 2 answers that were most recently modified by users with 1 rep purely because I know they'll have left absolutely terrible answers and it's fun to read and/or flag them?
Totally irrelevant formatting question: Is there a way to get text in between to asterisks without the parser interpreting the asterisks as markdown and turning the text cursive instead?
@ACuriousMind No, I wanted to jokingly play with the similarities between englisch and german by saying german words that would look in english like I'm callinc it italics
@Danu My cursive is borderline illegible, so one I was at university actually needing to read the stuff I've written down, I switched to rather "print-style" handwriting
@Danu: About feeling nervous for not finding a room - when I started in Heidelberg, there was a shortage of room and a bunch of students spent their first weeks in improvised "lodgings" in the sports halls. :D (I do not wish you the same fate in Munich)
@Phonon perhaps saying somebody's statement is the stupidest thing you've heard isn't best prefaced with "with all due respect" unless it's clear that respect is actually due
@Phonon sorry, should have been more clear. When you say "with all due respect", what if the person is not due any respect? Not saying that was the case, just saying that opening line doesn't always convey what is intended. And it almost never softens the blow
I spend most of my time on the TeX.SE and venture to other SE sites when looking for help. However, the atmosphere here seems to be going the way of the "old" stackoverflow SE. By old, I mean about 5months or so ago. SO was becoming extremely hostile and unfriendly to those trying to learn pro...
so something needs to be done about this solomon user that's been making multiple profiles and repeatedly spamming this particular question. physics.stackexchange.com/q/133259/23473
It's probably the 4th time today that question has been posted by them and there was a few yesterday too
