@ManishEarth: You around..?
I deleted an unnecessary comment discussion, which would be good material for Physics Chat though. — David Zaslavsky 23 mins ago

hm?

(David's not here... I can't ping him now)
@ManishEarth David deleted just 2 comments... Would those be unnecessary..?

I don't think it's chatty...
Brandon said - "Yes, they're frozen but, that's different from several rocks which are crystallized"
I told him, "You shouldn't post answers through comments"

not exactly chatty, but not necessary either

meaning..?
I'm not angry with David for deleting it... But, I've seen many comments similar to this (or more than this), Would that deletion be strictly necessary?
BTW, I agree that mine wouldn't be necessary... But, what about Brandon's..?

8:25 AM
@ϚѓăʑɏβµԂԃϔ not strictly necessary. but if a discussion is starting it is better to destroy it before than after

@ManishEarth Oh... But (to speak truly), that was the end of discussion... Mostly, I (as a long-term member) wouldn't like to continue such discussions (except those relating posts) since I know what the effect would be..! ;-)
It's not a problem though, just need a confirmation so that I wouldn't start something hereafter -_-

Q: What can I do if I note that answers are abused to troll, flame, and/or advertise personal nonsense theories?

DilatonJust as a most recent example (I could give many more posted by other users too), this "answer" does not answer the question, brings up confused rhetoric intended to troll about fundamental physics generally, and the only logical interpretation of the link in this "answer" is that it is meant to ...

@Dilaton ...did you see the last paragraph there about Q&A sites? Recommendation questions aren't regarded as Q&A as they don't have a small pool of answers. That's one of the reasons they are not allowed.
The rule against reco questions is a rather solid one. Not like the rules against opinionated questions (like questions asking advice) -- those can be bent a bit
About the variational approach, it looks like you made a radical edit without the OPs consent, and it ended up converting the q into a broad one
Try and see if the OP himself can highlight his question.
If not, then do it yourself.
All the while, make sure that you don't make the post broad.
