@eiy sure. But we don't regex fix Einstein either. It doesn't seem like a big problem; we can get rid of it in a week of editing imo

Q: What can I do if I note closevotes on a perfectly good question but have no access to the reopen / close queues?

DilatonWhat can I do, if I note that perfectly good questions are closevoted but still open, and I dont have access to the reopen / close queues? Having access to these higher rep review queues, I could simply review it and say "leave open". But what can people do who have not enough rep for this? Out ...

Q: Can we have a graphing tool for Math.SE and Physics.SE?

exploringnetGraphing tool is very important for answering and asking some questions in Math and Physics. Physics also require diagrams for explaining the scenario in the problem and in some answers in mechanics as making Free_Body_diagrams etc.

Hi guys, I do not know much about quantum field theory and have a fair bit of background in quantum mechanics. While reading an article on quantum noise, I came across the in-in expectation and out-in expectation. I would appreciate it if someone can throw some light on what it means. Thanks. :-)

@Gugg forgot to tell you that I did it, but I deleted it an hour or two back

@ManishEarth Should this be posted even after you said that the reasons for suspension must not be disclosed?

If he wants to make it public it's fine
He missed my reply though

Are Einstien@Home and Einstein@Home the same thing?

Wha..???

@CrazyBuddy I checked Google, and there are more hits for the first one than I would have expected if it where a spelling mistake.

@BrandonEnright I have two examples that have stuck in my mind.
(1) physics.stackexchange.com/questions/32212/… is a comment, so it can't be downvoted. It isn't actually offensive, so flagging it isn't really appropriate.

@ColinMcFaul yep..!

(2) physics.stackexchange.com/a/41176/9719 is an answer, so I was able to downvote it. It's just a weird answer.

1:33 PM
downvoting is totally upto you..!
@Gugg I don't get that..!

What don't you get? My question?

Yep..! :)
especially why you googled that..!

@CrazyBuddy Well, let me rephrase. If somebody were to refer to Einstien@Home, would he perfectly right, or should he be brought before the spelling tribunal?

Nah... Google corrects the spelling - Isn't it?
I get Einstein@home when I write Einstien@home

To me, it gives me the option, which I, smartly, ignored. So, is Einstien@Home an acceptable spelling of Einstein@Home, perhaps for historical reasons?
34800 hits for Einstien@Home, 2110000 hits for the other one.

1:43 PM
oh my..???
I got 82,000,000 for the right one, but around 50kk for second..!

The difference probably comes partly from me using " " around it. The other part probably due to me using encrypted.google.com.

The ratio of the two seems comparable to dyslexia prevalence, which is the competing hypothesis here.

physicist eh..??? :P

@007 There is an on-going attack. Presumably from a single source, but hydra-headed.

@dmckee It's still going on?

@ColinMcFaul meh, you can flag it as chatty or obsolete
@Gugg no, not as far as I know

@DavidZaslavsky Without given away any secrets, did you (the moderators) block the IP or something else?

Q: Can we have a graphing tool for Physics.SE?

007 Post linked with this MSO post Graphing tool is very important for answering and asking some questions in Physics. Graphing tool must include the function plotting and drawing some free shapes. This post is for further discussion on this and getting the comments and suggestions on this o...

@DavidZaslavsky there was a same type of question about 30 mins ago, flaged it and it got deleted.

@Gugg Moderators do not have IP blocking power. We can kill posts unilaterally and even annihilate low rep users almost as easily, but the structure of the site is that new users can post, so the attacker can simply make another unregistered account and post again. Eventually we'll get the team involved.

@Gugg AFAICT this is spammer is attacking more than Physics.SE. They'll end up blacklisting something or the other soon

007
Well this very day increased my flag count by about 17-18. :)
so many spammers around

@007 Can't you live up to your name and do something else about it, perhaps with Q's help? :)
@ManishEarth Would I be able to make a footnote number clickable (not really e.g., in this question)?

5:14 PM
@Gugg not really

Sounds like a yes to me. :)

You can make it clickable, but it won't go anywhere

5:33 PM
@DavidZaslavsky That's a good point. I have a particular love for those two options.

Remember, comments aren't really meant for permanent information

5:51 PM
Oh they were spammers? I thought they were genuine. I've paid my money to the black magic guy to help sort out my marital problems

@twistor59 Thanks, I'll spend it wisely (on your wife). [Is this over the top? In that case: my sincere apologies.]
BTW, the spammer is back. Now.

6:09 PM
@Gugg LOL!

Phew, I was a bit afraid you might take this wrong. :)

@twistor59 rofl
