@NathanArthur in a default wordpress, with a default theme, with default plugins, you shouldn't get a post object passed to a nav walker. It may look like it but I cannot think of a reason why it's giving you a post object instead of a nav item object.
Why does Stack Overflow still have a WordPress tag :/ If they moved all them question to here and told everyone to start asking WordPress on the actual WPSE we would a bigger community
There was a point where I tried to get a bunch of good WordPress questions moved from StackOverflow to here but it takes an SO Admin to move it and they pretty much don't care. It's such a big site that they probably have their hands full as it is.
Yeah but I would say probably 70% of those question would probably be off-topic here.
I just pulled that percentage out of thin air though lol - I've just noticed that whenever I view the WP tag on stackoverflow it's just pages and pages of low-quality, do this for me, poor researched questions.
I agree and wouldn't mind maybe getting a small task force to sort through the pile and pick out good questions to be moved here. I'm not sure what the best approach for that would be though - would probably need to talk with the mods here and some mods there since as a SO user all I can do is flag for mod attention.
Without some sort of mod participation on SO part there's probably nothing that can be done to move questions from there to here.
