a metaphor for some unexpected turn of events that happen in life sometimes

guess we'll see how that goes in the fourth movie

I expect Shinji to have some meltdown again and then he'd think of a way to deal with the situation

probably not save everyone (that is pretty much not possible now that some permanent damage is done to the world) but at least some personal growth

and that would be okay
