11:00 AM
more numbers means more sales

that's what he said
as compared to what?
will the slower models not work at all?
then wtf have they been selling
is everything laggy as hell? does nothing ever load on slower models
do faster models magically have no wait time
I bet the shop employees have no answer to that

that what they make you think

it like magic , just slide to open and all other are magic , you will not know when your all money was wasted for that crap which you never intended to buy , marketing

yeah idk how phones are so laggy even with silly specs
like, my tablet can be slow and it mightnt be doing anything

11:04 AM
@Taisho (left): u luk fab (right): oh cmon nau
the only noticeable difference to me is screen

nah I don't feel like coding right now

@Hakase what do you code in, java as well? who else on here writes code or develops?

@shaggy I'm a medalist and full stack developer. I contribute to various open source technologies as hobby.
It's how I found Stack Exchange. xD

@shaggy mee~
#tomato

11:16 AM

@shaggy c# mostly

in SO Close Vote Reviewers on Stack Overflow Chat, Dec 9 '14 at 17:04, by gunr2171
There are two types of programming languages: ones that are wrong, and c#.

@ToshinouKyouko yea you said earlier you were working with java on android. correct?@Unihedro full stack eh, in this days world thats saying alot, and only as a hobby?
either way why i asked is because basically, last time i touched code was about 11 years ago, and here lately, due to health complications, am reconsidering getting back into programming in general, as a hobby at first and to go from there. My only qualm and concern about doing such things is, LOL a lot as changes in the past decade, and i feel quite out of the loop and way to behind. is it even possible to pick back up/lea

in Java on Stack Overflow Chat, Jan 30 at 13:48, by Unihedro
(Meanwhile, the world is shocked to hear Uni is not coding)
^ Here's what I mean by full stack

wtf does full stack even mean
heh

11:25 AM
@Hakase when stack is full , it is full stack

@mirroroftruth right, makesensio

What's with that ending in the latest Yuri Kuma?

@Hakase desu yo

also as a point of reference, when i was coding 10-11 years ago i was age 14, and mostly doing stuff in LUA, getting into ruby on rails(it was kinda a new deal back then), and dabbling in some others here and there.

11:27 AM
I haven't done android since v2.1

I think you'd be able to pick it up, but I'd recommend starting small and getting back into it again

lol full stack to me means, that your profiecent in almost all levels and areas of diff languages as well as worked in multiple positions and areas of IT aswell as networking, basicly to me having a 'full hand'

Android is commonly worked on with SDK, but I prefer NDK for various reasons.
@shaggy Yes, I do many layers and try many new stacks (language frameworks) :p
Professionally, I'm only at most part-time as a developer though, and currently am a CTO of a startup.

I think it's quite hard to tell what is the industry level, you should go through sample interview questions and if you can do them you're probably good for a junior role - I've found most companies hire on experience rather than skill for higher roles
although it depends on which company of course

@Unihedro thats very impressive. im envious of all of you to some extent. i feel ashamed that i didnt continue as i did at the age of 14, i constantly think(each time of picking it back up again) how much experience and knowledge i woud have obtained over the last decade...

^_^

11:32 AM
wut

@ToshinouKyouko experience how to face Google problem

@ToshinouKyouko of course. thats totally understandable. i just need a huge refresher, and to get my hands dirty again, and pretty much relearn alot of things. unfortunately not coding for over 10 years leaves alot to be desired and not alot to be remembered ... especially these particular years of being a young dumb teen..partyin and what not

@Hakase wot

@mirroroftruth not all jobs are like that though (but most :P)

@shaggy you'd have learned a bunch of knowledge that is almost useless now :p
just start now and learn the freshest things and you'll be ok

11:34 AM
I worked with a horrible testing platform that didnt have any documentation because it was so old the site had disappeared

Yeah, coding isn't a particularly good knowledge to have around - it may be handy, but in most jobs you don't benefit from if it's not in IT :p

@Unihedro is it a secret startup or may we be linked to it?

no stackoverflow answers for that :(

@Unihedro understandable. i started coding because it interested me, not because of potential job positions, thus why i end up not following through with it.

It's fairly transferrable if you want to make excel scripts

11:35 AM
@Hakase Will I be banned for promoting? :S
Oh well, here: angel.co/oratio-io

or if you do repetitive work that you could script it

@ToshinouKyouko that what i do

it's not promo if peolpe ask for it

@Unihedro people in suits and then an avatar with a lobster hat

@Hakase thats kinda of refreshing to hear thanks, i just feel like i would have alot cleaner of a syntax, and most likely stronger more efficient way of building code, compared to all the clutter that seems to be the norm today

11:36 AM

I didn't read any books but now my ways of coding are much better (after 3 years of coding)

@Unihedro lobster hat wins.

@ToshinouKyouko #eccentricdeveloper ;)

ya dat lobsterhat

It's from Winterbash!!

11:37 AM
I know, it's cool
I bet people scratch their heads all the time thinking how u got to keep it after winter bash ended

xD
in Tcl on Stack Overflow Chat, Dec 15 '14 at 17:18, by Unihedro
The hat I am wearing in the avatar was obtained in the Winterbash 2014 event, which is a Stack Exchange tradition. I exceptionally liked the hat because it is easy to get, and its requirement was to downvote five posts; Being a frequent downvoter, I found a huge bond with the hat and wore it during the season.

well i mean , hmm, any tips for whats hot now, and what the future holds, hehehe any fortune tellers out there

C:
@shaggy C# and Java will remain the mainstream languages. Python is now the excellent "pick up programming" language. Rust is uprising, who knows where it will go.

@shaggy totally depends on what you like or not
I guess web dev is the most popular sort of programming these days

@ToshinouKyouko i thought it is crab

11:39 AM
gamedev is a fun option, but it doesn't pay much

im really not big into web dev... haha

of course if you're into old broken systems that have no documentation, welcome to banking software

For web dev, PHP and Node.js are still the nice tools, along with Django and dropwizard (frameworks for software development languages, in python and java respectively) and iojs is new
/end bloating this room with programming stuff :D

@Hakase wooo

lol sorry for bringing it up.

11:41 AM
yay

im just looking for some guidance

#tomato

@Hakase Game dev pays much if you have a reliable team + a reliable idea + a reliable way to throw publicity stunt :D

which means almost never

11:41 AM
banking and financial software pays the most

@Hakase Find someone smart, and mock them into business. Of course, you also have to beware that their smartness doesn't backstab you.

@ToshinouKyouko when you say android and java, are you talking web, or app stuff

heh

@ToshinouKyouko ... Which, unfortunately, both happen to have the worst programmers into play :)
Even my hobbyist tier software is more secure than my ex-bank's service

@Unihedro its because it's not fun :P

11:43 AM
yup, can confirm

a great programmer can get paid very well and work on something he likes

nope, can't confirm yet :D

@shaggy app stuff (i have done web stuff also, just not with java)
I can confirm that everyone else in fintech makes a lot of money
not me though :P

@ToshinouKyouko Stack Exchange is hiring! :p

ooh that one I can confirm also

11:44 AM
@ToshinouKyouko hey don't forget me

@Unihedro but they need really good guys who know a lot of stuff

@ToshinouKyouko im not worried to much about money, i want to do something i enjoy. ive learned my lesson and i know what i want in life

@Unihedro the level is too high at least for me

@shaggy then first thing u gotta do is figure out what you enjoy

They are hiring a magician

11:45 AM
I'm only an apprentice

I unfortunately picked archer

I need to craft a CV for my career possession. xD

it's never too late to respec

and i like the app idea, back when i was starting to code, there were no smart phones and the like, the only thing i had was windows OS, and PSP hacked firmware stuff

@ToshinouKyouko ranger classes ftw!

11:46 AM
@ToshinouKyouko ya a long ranger

pew pew

now what are you guys talking about haha

ragnorok lol?

justgamerstuff

11:47 AM
@shaggy this is the way chat works here

stack exchange are hiring a magician, and i was saying i picked the wrong class

ahahah
i see.
well thanks for the brief off topic talk guys. i needed that

xD

I'm making games these days

Awesome!

11:49 AM
i have much more motivation
@Hakase what kind

the game engine games lol

@Hakase i lost my motivation on that

wanted to remake Diablo 2 since I was little

like with your own spin?

there's too much stuff that can be added, which is not there

11:50 AM
or remake,remake

with editors

Ohhh, I remember game editors

anybody will be able to put their on spin on it

ahh i see. and indeed, how did you like D3 RoS?

only played the base D3 and it was not good at all
everything changed when blizzard got blinded with money

11:51 AM
Moolah!

i played RoS, not the base.. but i played it on XB1 and it ran fairly smooth , first time playin on a console ... and yeah . thats the sad part of everything. money kills all

If only money was no object, all of us could possess what we love and there's nothing for the world to fight for.

indeed

the fight would then be for who gets it first or something
there's always fight when living things are involved

Humans are weird~

11:53 AM
it's one of the entertainments
pokemon

i get your point. but what were talking about is an impossible world anyways so theres no point in even speculating IMO

what do they do all the time? fight lol
wild pokemon live fine alongside each other, but then people gotta make em fight with each other for money and badges

The problem with the world is noone would want to work if they didnt have to
but the world needs workers to do basic things like set up water systems and farm food

I strongly disagree
there are things like manga and anime which you can't make or get without somebody working

i sightly disagree

11:55 AM
@ToshinouKyouko Possessions were grown as part of the nature of intelligence. Birds build fancy nests even if they don't need it.

i thisagree

well some people like working, but I mean people would work on what they like, rather than what society needs

but ye we gotta make magic food and water machines already

i know people that like to work, or dont see it as work.

i doubt many people want to be bin people

11:56 AM
theyd work on what they need, not society

@ToshinouKyouko but they need what they need not what they like

was bin laden one of bin people?

haha this is getting to deep

I mean bin as in garbage :P

da rubbish bin

11:57 AM
trash laden

@mirroroftruth aye, and people need to work to get what they need
i dont know where i was meant to be going with this
i think it was like: jobs are needed

how deep , like deep fried chicken

Bakuman shows how a bunch of young people work their asses off to make manga
there's almost no focus on money and such

@Hakase bean laden

We're stimulating an impossible world with our own ecology, with the chat transcript as a medium. xD
That's pretty cool, actually.

11:59 AM
@Hakase they do need some money though

anything is possible if you can imagine it

they can't work on their manga all the time if they cant afford to eat

@ToshinouKyouko ye but it's largely implied that they get by rather well
those art tools cost a lot

sure, but to get that money, people need to buy their manga, who in turn need jobs
lets just buy an island together and make a new nation

ok fine where do I sign

12:01 PM
there is no contracts on the island, only contracts of fun

i been starting bakemonogatari... and i got to say, this is not what i was expecting

@ToshinouKyouko At least an NDA?..

lol

lol

@ToshinouKyouko take me in

12:01 PM
I'll help mine and collect minerals. Trust me, I'm an expert miner! From playing Minecraft

im an expert miner from runescape

I'm an expert miner from Terraria

i think im better than you @Unihedro

we gon mine in 2d

12:02 PM
and i am expert minor , its something

dang I'm outranked

:O

@Hakase can make robots to do our farming
ooh
sock puppets :D

12:03 PM
Marii-chan

I'm an.. expert chemist and mathematician! I score D in both subjects in school :D

I like the frog

@Taisho Puppets!

oh right we'll automate everything

cause that always works out well....

12:04 PM
leave farming to farmer
maido roboto , we need it

one day, my friends

but we need money to make the robots

we do kickstarter campaigns

but i guess it's an investment

convincing ones

12:05 PM
hmm

Do we have an engineer on board? :o

i wonder how big the island is we should buy
we might get lots of immigrants

we buy the cat island and employ cats

and dogs for protection

12:07 PM
no
bigger cats

all citizens must wear cat ears outside
tails not required, but welcome

@ToshinouKyouko strict law should be build to accept immigrants
requirement must be fulfilled

but there will be a number that we cannot support
it takes time to build robots

but i don't have cat's ear ,i have rabbit's ear

12:09 PM
and we will only have a certain amount of land

@ToshinouKyouko we make robots that build robots

woah @_@
hmm
antartica is technically owned by noone soooo

and one day we make robots that will be able to build anything, including themselves

we wouldnt even need to buy it

one robot to build them all

12:10 PM
Make sure they know the Three Laws of Robotics!

@ToshinouKyouko penguin

Or they might kill us :/

@mirroroftruth we can make houses for penguins too

those three laws are flawed

@Unihedro we make rule in our land

12:10 PM
I accept our tsun maid robot overlords

@mirroroftruth Good idea! We need a lawyer.

a robot lawyer

rule 1: be nice

rule 2: don't be not nice?

@Hakase that is good idea , a robot lawyer who keep them in rule

12:12 PM
i haven't thought about the other rules yet

@ToshinouKyouko who should be nice

@mirroroftruth all citizens

rule x: all (non-personal) knowledge is free and available to all

jesus im got for like 5 min and 43 new post...

@shaggy this is nothing

12:13 PM
@Hakase Yus yus!

while you were gone @shaggy we have decided to create a new civilization

of course. this happened , when i was away... just my luck
was it founded on the basis of robotic farming?

@shaggy The world passes a lot faster when you don't pay attention. :p

all boring stuff is done by robots

cause i think thats when i took leave, came back and now its a complete civilization

12:14 PM
Like moelization?

@Unihedro true enough

we need moe in robot too

@Unihedro that explains the last decade of my life quite accurately
lol moe robot. ahhhh i love you guys

O~i

time to head home to make new civilization plan

12:16 PM
yes, you better do that

do we have a name yet?

bye all of you

Bye bye!

Moelization by Sid Moers
2

can i be the treasurer.... cause theres going to be no money righttt..?

12:16 PM
@shaggy Eh... Collaborative Imagination?

#melon

dang so fancy
and it's just pizza

My concentration always stays on the hair in these pictures for some weird reason. xP

12:18 PM
gradients

i want some pizza

you can get it
but it won't be as fancy as in this picture
unless it will?
if so, can I be invited?

it wont be fancy

aww :<
rule 2: try to be fancy

ugh guys it was good talking ill see yall tomorrow, im off to finish bakemonogatari and heat up some bulgogi. ciao my friends

12:22 PM
c ya

@shaggy Bai bai~

@Uni u hav bitbucket account?

I miht

also r u interested in diablo 2 remake/game engine project I mentioned?

Oh? :O

12:25 PM
^^ i love that your serious about that.
this^^ just made my night

I'm serious about everything, it's just that I'm lazy af

xD

well quit that ...stop being lazy

and need motivation

eye of the tiger?

12:26 PM
which is why I'm trying to involve others
so they see steady progress, say WOO progress! and I get motivated again and keep making progress

shit man. im stoked just hearing about the idea of it

this is how all things work really

@Hakase Self esteem hack!

does this mean that youve already started work on the engine?

haka.se
@shaggy of course it does
there's not much right now, but there's always a bit more coming
I already remade Terraria once, I don't think this is gonna be much more difficult

12:28 PM
:D whaaat! is terraria open source?

lol of course not
neither is D2

of course

ok then I have a few more projects going on so if any of you have your own crazy lazy ideas, you know you can always nag me for some motivation
be sure to motivate me back tho
this is how we gon make the world a better place

This is an awesome idea! xD

i dont know much about terra tho, i had to look it up once you mentioned it. props to you for that my friend. super inspiring. thats what drives me, i would love to be able to do that. im starting first thing tomorrow, on trying to renew my knowledge and to begin coding again. your the man!

12:32 PM
YAy! :D

hats off to you all. but foreal this time, im off. cheers

Seeya!

right back to bzns

@Hakase Bizons?
Boozeness?

12:38 PM
making the blocking map tile layer and editor, save/load maps, then make blocking tiles actually block character movement

Coool :o

that means collision detection and resolution which I absolutely hate but gotta do

._.

coz it has math

I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that xD

12:39 PM
I hate math

I don't really dislike math, but I don't have as much application development experience, let alone graphic application development :P

@AsadaShino just draw it on paper, figure out how what you just drew works, translate into simple sentences, then translate into code

The most graphic I've gotten is css ~_~

CSS3 or legacy CSS? :D

@Hakase Then you'd first have to be able to draw something, so you can do something with what you want to draw on screen, or is that not what you meant?
@Unihedro What's the big difference? I thought css3 was mostly a set of newly added stuff for animating and such

12:41 PM
no, u asked where to start, I answered how to start and get it done :p

I don't really know how to answer that question, since I don't really know what the difference is apart from the number 3

Yeah, the animation and pointlessly complicated cascading is all the madness that makes CSS3 hard. :D

@Hakase Aha, I see xD

it's really simple
I might be able to make a tutorial once I get it done

@Unihedro I guess just css then? I have done some animation/translation sort of stuff, but most of the webdesigns made by our designers don't really feature any animations or anything spectacular

12:42 PM
Kewl~

@Hakase :o Cool

ok then… putting that tutorial on my to-do list

Haha, ganbatte~! o/

but first map saving, editing, etc

1:17 PM
hii
@AsadaShino its just some more things you can do with it. its not really a big deal but people like to make it one

people always make big deals out of nothing

It's no big deal :D

time to move out!

No fuel quantum engine proven to work ^
