regardless weather Scarlett Johansson is a good actress or not (i say the former, they wouldn't dare put crap actors/actresses in Avengers) it's weather Hollywood or even Dreamworks for that matter can do a non sucky adaptation, my only memories are Aion Flux, Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender and only Aion Flux was good because it was more watchable than the origina MTV stuff

@Memor-X If we're talking live-action, then Hollywood has an even less than great track record of adaptations.

The fact that Dreamworks is doing it hints that it's probably an animation though.

So it's not unprecedented that Scarlet Johansson could be hired for a voice role.

@Yuuki your right they do better is animation but i can't see Scarlett Johansson being a voice actress though i don't know all her roels, given she's big it be a shame to cast her but then hide her behind the mic

Hollywood should just do a live-action adaptation of Glasslip. Now that's something I'd watch

@Memor-X Hollywood big names tend to be surprisingly good at voice roles, so I'm not terribly worried about Scarlet Johansson.

A fairly good number of TV actors/actresses I know about have taken musical theatre, which really helps with the vocal expression.

Hollywood's faults with adaptations stem chiefly from writers.

They either are too fanboyish and don't change enough so that it's refreshing or they have no understanding of the source material and change so much that's unrecognizable.

With the lion's share of the distribution leaning towards the altter.

@Yuuki Dreamworks does a lot of live action co-productions, so it's very unlikely this will be animated, especially considering who's leading the project

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Oh yeah, I know it's going to be live-action now. I'm just disputing the argument that big-name actors are only hired for live-action roles.

@Yuuki yeh, you can have a huge cast of big name celebs like Scarlet Johansson, Russle Crowe, Huge Ackman etc. but they can only be a good as the roles written for them, i wouldn't hold my breath unless we hear the original creators are on board as consultants

considering her popularity and success with the recent live action movies it makes sense for her her to be tapped for more live action roles than voiced roles, especially since they pay more
