@JNat he's still doing it wrong, Naruto's body is leaning forward, the kid's isn't and that's why he looks like a bloody idiot doing it
also, i think he's giving the bird. what ninja in their right mind give the bird when they run

12:21 AM
Didn't we get an answer here claiming that running like that was actually faster?
Actually, that question has lots of terrible posts, some deleted, some not.

Q: Why do ninjas run with their hands at the back?

xjshiyaNinjas in Naruto run with their hands at the back (which is very different from normal anime character running). Why is that? Is it because of their too much running speed or the wind force that their arms tend to be at their backs? Don't they lose balance when they run like that? Is there any ex...

then every athlete should run like that

@OshinoShinobu To quote the deleted answers there:
> i surely dont think that the people from the olympics are gonna know the beautiful ( japanese ) ninja art form for faster running ........
Their delusions are already one step ahead of you.

lol, I need to upgrade my chuunibyou level

12:45 AM
@JNat Well, at least he's beating his friends classmates.

@LoganM 4 deleted, 3 with a positive vote and negative vote (one equal +2/-2). i'm tempted to downvote every answer which says it's just to make them look cool

@Memor-X so... tsukimonogatari, and what's the left picture suppose to mean

@OshinoShinobu apparently it's a "Butler Cafe" the gender opposite of a Maid Cafe
it's just the image that was on the JList Newsletter

and how is that related with tukimono
not like ononoki is maid
or butler

2:01 AM
@OshinoShinobu proably isn't, before getting to the products the author rambles on for a bit, first paragraph is about Monogatari and how they've just started to watch Tsukimonogatari then the second paragraph begins in talking about Butler Cafes
Recently I started watching the latest Bakemonogatari sequel, called Tsukimonogatari, which is a great series for fans of both high quality voice actor performances as well as anime characters tilting their heads. If you're not familiar with the series, it's basically about a half vampire named Koyomi Araragi who interacts with different girls...
With the rise of female otaku fandom, one shop in Shibuya called the Butler's Cafe is mixing things up a bit. Instead of the traditional model, female customers are greeted by sharply-dressed butlers from countries like France, Britain or Sweden, who escort them to tables and treat them like...
this image is from a email what was subjects as "A new anime meme for "Oppai" fans + my new favorite otaku girl"
@ton.yeung what, as in set during Dragonball or set during Dragonball Z

Q: yaoi manga that I can't remember that ends with a wedding

sophiaI keep thinking of a yaoi manga(pretty sure that's what it was) I read a while ago and I can't remember the name. All I can remember is that it ended with the couples' daughter getting married to a girl(I think) and her saying 'I told you I was going to marry her'. If you know the name or what I'...

@Sakamoto maybe he mean yuri..

@OshinoShinobu check my comment

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ in the image you have Luca as an octopus/tentaluca but all the girls i know of in the image have kept their hair styles and Lucy doesn't wear her hair as a pony tail and though it may be another girl

@JacobCopland depends on the kind of math

It's proof

@JacobCopland welcome back

Here is the problem

@JacobCopland ain't my thing, when i hear proof in mathmatics i think "prove 1 + 1 = 2" "one apple, 2 apples, want me to disprove it *smashes apple in face*

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF PI!

3:33 AM
@JacobCopland Rhubarb.

JK
Wut
@Yuuki Wut...

@Yuuki casserole!

Rhubarb pie is a pie with a rhubarb filling. Besides diced rhubarb, it almost always contains a large amount of sugar to balance the intense tartness of the plant. == Popularity == Rhubarb pie is particularly popular in those areas where the rhubarb plant is commonly cultivated, including Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Ireland and the New England and Upper Midwestern regions of the United States and Australia. In Canada and the United States, strawberry rhubarb pie is a popular late-spring pie, generally combining the first strawberries of the season with the last of the rhubarb. == See... ==

OH LOL
:)

3:35 AM
@JacobCopland using geometric method?

@JacobCopland Also, why are you coming here for math help?

*runs out of chat room* I HAVE TO GET HOIHOI-SAN CAT EARS!

OMG IT"S A JOKE

Not a very well-formed one.

I'll gladly solve it in about 22 steps

3:38 AM
pi = area / (radius ^ 2)
Solved it in one.

@Yuuki you can't use pi to prove pi

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ yes you can if it's a round pie

@Memor-X that's a pie we're talking about a pi you can't touch

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ if it's on paper i can touch it, and eat it too

3:42 AM
@Memor-X no you're touching and eating the paper not the pi

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ stop ruining my fun and let me make a pi pie

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ *becomes memorized by .gif*

What ever happened to Thrills and Spills? Did we decom that?

3:46 AM
Any anime GIF is perfect for Thrills and Spills.

@Eric well then DON'T TAKE AWAY THE CUTENESS!

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ well played.

Nothing's more honorable than solving a 16x16 on your chest with a blade.

@Axoren that will be a real pain if you made a mistake and needed to erase it

@Memor-X Just means more dishonor on your family.

Q: what anime is this water gif from?

lucyi think this gif looks like an anime i would be interested in, does anyone know what its called? http://grimeskin.tumblr.com/post/108615677721

@Sakamoto Assuming I got the right images, this is from Kancolle (character is Kuma). Free rep for anyone who wants to answer.
@Memor-X Brouwer? As in the guy who proved the Brouwer fixed point theorem?

5:16 AM
@Memor-X That was a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes

as soon as i saw it was kantai i rushed to get the answer posted. just then went to submit and then continued to edit it
wanted to ID the Ship Girl and Abyssal

rofl understandable
There be sharks around these here waters

the only thing i am uncertain is if it's I or Ro attacking Kuma, it's be so much easier if it was one of the women and not one of the drones

Q: What is "one piece"?

shnisakaIn the anime One Piece, What is one piece? other than its the object that will make the possessor a pirate king. any clues about what "one piece" can be?

head's also pretty?
it's just probably that we're not used to that sort of compliment
pretty in the head?
nice head
(dirty jokes module working overtime)

Usually smart is atama ga ii (or mo or wa in place of ga)
I have to admit I've never heard kirei used there.
That would be good, lol

ii kinda means "ok head" but kirei might mean even better than ii

I can't find the phrase used anywhere online, tho...

also because people can, it may not have been a common phrase, but they decided to use it for humor value

6:10 AM
@Eric It should usually not be wa here, since the sentence is implied to be about a person.

@LoganM Indeed, but grammatically it's possible.

Idiomatically it's not really correct though.

Agreed.

Just Skype it whenever you can.

I guess it can work if you make the subject explicit by inserting a no particle instead of wa.
(if you really want it to)
sounds really awkward though
At least to me

6:13 AM

Who does what?

@Eric The weird winking face?
Or the dialogue?

That's what I'm wondering. Neither seems particularly odd to me, especially since this is anime we're talking about.

@Hakase I think you're confusing 頭が切れる (which does mean to be smart) with 頭がきれい, which means to have a beautiful head.

I'm not sure if that better or worse than "wanna f--k?".

6:16 AM
The former is probably better translated as a "sharp mind" if you want to be somewhat literal.
No, not really. 切れる is the verb for "to cut"
Or more like "to be sharp" since it's an intransitive verb.
kiri is basically a form of 切る, which is the equivalent transitive verb meaning "to cut"
Same as in English
transitive verb implies action, intransitive verb implies state. At least that's the most general case, though there are exceptions.

@ton.yeung in wat context

Intransitive verbs in English are mostly (maybe all?) forms of "to be".

@ton.yeung need to be more specific
@ton.yeung like a state of the subject, rather than an action?

Actually not all of them are
Plenty which aren't.
@ton.yeung What don't you understand?
Fundamentally, an intransitive verb doesn't allow an object.

@ton.yeung there's a lot ground to cover with verbs

6:30 AM
Anyway, the distinction is less important in English. There aren't many cases of intransitive verbs which could reasonably be confused for a transitive verb, and you can use transitive verbs without an object as intransitive ones. But in Japanese most transitive verbs also have an intransitive equivalent and you have to pick the right one.

imo verbs are really the essence of japanese. despite the fact that there are essentially only two tenses (present and past), there are far more verb forms in japanese than in English or even in latin

Tenses don't really have to do with transitive vs. intransitive.

I'm talking about verbs in general

Probably for convenience. It works in any tense.

6:33 AM
@Taisho Now I want Saki S4.

@Taisho she looks familiar

but at the rate they go at, it'll be another year or two before we get it.

@LoganM I thought saki is more like moe anime

I don't think Saki fits nicely in any reasonable genre categorization
It's sort of like a sports anime, but also pretty different. Sort of moe, but only sometimes. Sort of yuri, but that's not the real focus. And it has some of the best action scenes I've seen, despite definitely not being an action show.

6:37 AM
Anyway, that's Shiromi, the Vanguard for Miyamori, which Kiyosumi plays in Zenkoku-hen in the quarter finals.

oh she really is from Saki

most intense mahjong action since Koizumi

Saki actually predates Koizumi though, but w/e

Koizumi for sheer ridiculous plot

Koizumi has more absurd plot, but Saki has more interesting mahjong.

6:47 AM
yes indeed

@MadaraUchiha the same way you feel about A/Z S2

@ʞɹɐzǝɹ I actually didn't like the OP of AZ2 as much as I did with S1.
AZ1 was one of the rare serieses where I never skipped the opening song a single time.

@MadaraUchiha exactly

I think the only other one was the first OP of Mirai Nikki

maybe this is very old news :P

Hahaha

I'm gonna upload some stuff :D

all these custom themes taught me one very important lesson: don't mess with the typefaces
most of those themes end up being totally unreadable
I've seen some that use letters 6 pixels high everywhere
this is a nightmare on a fullhd display and total despair on higher res monitors

itsnt that mostly tumblr with the terrible themes
crazy floating menus and stuff

Sachertorte ([ˈzaxɐˌtɔʁtə] ( )) is a specific type of chocolate cake, or torte, invented by Austrian Franz Sacher in 1832 for Prince Wenzel von Metternich in Vienna, Austria. It is one of the most famous Viennese culinary specialties 5 December is National Sachertorte Day. == History == === Origins === Recipes similar to that of the Sachertorte appeared as early as the eighteenth century, one instance being in the 1718 cookbook of Conrad Hagger, another individual represented in Gartler-Hickmann's 1749 Tried and True Viennese Cookbook (Wienerisches bewährtes Kochbuch). In 1832, Prince Wenzel von...

I was about to say, someone get google on the phone, but it seems it's already done?
I mean, this with a good google glass implementation would be awesome
Ah the video is 4 years old xD

all the more impressive
hard parts are dynamic recreation of missing letters and translation of uncommon terminology
wonder how it shows that it can't reliably translate something
