Renji "Range" Murata (村田蓮爾, Murata Renji, born October 2, 1968 in Osaka) is a Japanese artist and designer, known for his unique style combining Art Deco and Japanese anime elements. He is best known for his conceptual design work on anime series Last Exile and Blue Submarine No. 6. He began his career in the early 1990s doing design work for video games. He still continues to do some work in this area today, having done the character designs for the PlayStation 2 game Spy Fiction. I can't say I completely understand all the implications of the policy, which has never (afaik) completely been stated. But one of them is almost certainly that it's not okay to ping users who enter a room automatically (unless perhaps they ask for it).

I see, well I think this is one or the peculiarities for this room being a maid cafe.

and as far as I saw on the meta the only saying from SO was that they don't care about the bot and if at any time they update the chat and it breaks any bots so be it

but I wasn't planning on leaving her saying greetings as I found it annoying myself lol

but I needed to test her on a more lively room to catch some errors which I did so far

@Prix when user leaves the room they are still pinged because their username is mentioned with a @ symbol. The notification shows up in the superbar along with normal site notifications like when somebody posts an answer to your question or comments on a post. Clicking that chat message notification will result in unsuspecting user joining the room again and leaving it after that will make Ruri-chan post yet another message, and the user becomes annoyed as a result.

@user1306322 I was already planning on 1 and 3 but after seeing how it is in practice I decided to just make a command like ".welcome custom message" so whenever one come in you get the custom non-pinged welcome if they set any to them self.

The original reason a bot was suspended was for posting a welcome message exactly once per new user entering the room. Everything you've suggested would be more annoying than that.

one other reason why it was annoying is because the room the original bot was used in was very populated and so the commoners were annoyed by bot welcoming everybody all day

my vision of "tell" and "say" commands is say (arg) and tell (username|userid) (arg) where argument can be checked for being a command, and if not, just interpreted as verbatim text
