Q: What were Killua's first three wishes from Alluka (after reunionion)?

hkBattousaiIt is stated that Killua made 3 wishes, but I counted 4 of them. Which of the one I counted is discarded? What are the 3 wishes exactly? 1) "Die." 2) "Wake up." 3) "Play Shiritori with me." 4) "Pet my head." But they count the wishes as 3 only.

@Prix is that bacon stuffed in some guy's pockets?

user7718FuckFuckFuckFuckFuckFuckFuckFuckFuck

@user1306322 wow great answer

10:06 PM
I suppose SE could not allow answers like that at least because it consists of repeating words
it'd force users to be more creative with their swearing

FuqFoqFeq...

They do have some spam prevention and quality filters

so this is quality stuff?

I think I saw somewhere that the amount of automated spam prevented by the filters is actually larger than the number of legit posts. So clearly they're doing something well.
But when it's a human posting it, they can get past the captchas and other blocks with enough effort regardless of what you do.
And at some point the quality filter starts to impact even legitimate posts, so it's easier just to have the community get rid of it within a few minutes.
For a similar case, I bet a lot of users here remember MODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODSMODS

> Put on hold as off-topic by Mods.

10:15 PM
No one can 100% prevent spam unhappily
captchas and all the new stuff are easily bypass as they come out

could have been DEVELOPERSDEVELOPERSDEVELOPERS

some feature do tend to hold spam back off for awhile but just enough for them to figure out a way around it

reCaptchas™ are usually extremely hard to bot-recognize

@user1306322 nope
there are more than 5 API's out there that I am aware of that are for captchas

Most spam that gets through SE's system is posted by humans, not bots.

10:17 PM
for instance deathbycaptcha

At least according to the devs

there is a lot of things that comes into play
I doubt a new user with a clean IP would get blacklisted by the filter even if the post was done by an application
but most of the spammers use proxies and blacklisted networks or a pattern where most of the tools available can block like that thing WP uses as API forgot the name

@LoganM how do they know if it was a person or a bot which successfully guessed a captcha?

@user1306322 No idea really

10:19 PM
along with other anti-spam rules that are in place

I don't know what they are looking at

like no copypasting of big texts and such
I know the number of links matters
2 links max for new users

No copypasting large text is really annoying though for ordinary users who post long answers.

I've seen some obviously spambotty suggested edits contain a bogus email address in the "comment" field

There is a lot of patterns you could check for it, but copy and paste would only be feasible if they actually copy and paste it but most Black Hatters will use a scramble on the text

10:21 PM
I still get captchas sometimes here because my answers are long and I type them in a text editor first before copying here.

@LoganM or if u answer / post too fast, I sometimes get some too

I've still got that huge-ass monogatari answer saved somewhere about scene colors
it's unfinished :p

I think the biggest thing SE was looking at when they said that was just the volume of posts coming from a particular source. If it's very low volume there's a good chance it's a human, but if it's high volume it's probably a bot.

@ToshinouKyouko what are the petals that fall from the plants then xD

actually I don't think the page checks for copypaste, it just probably checks for the amount of time since the "post" button was pressed divided by symbol count and if the "typing speed" is unusually high, it shows you a captcha

10:24 PM
I remember back in the days SO used to block an entire Indian range

Yeah I think it is based on the typing speed.

lol

as they are the most people doing massive spam

hmm actually checking total post score in an area could be a great idea

I think 20~40% of the filter is done automated and the other 60% by the community there is no point putting so much stress into the servers into things that have a bigger variation that you can prevent

10:25 PM

if people copy past users usually point that out rather faster

@ton.yeung Windows Phone.

I have/like windows phone :)

I don't have a modern OS phone and I don't like them >:\

You would love living in Brazil only like end of 2013 they started having windows OS for mobiles here

10:27 PM
5 CE?

When I got my phone I had to pay a lot to import it :(

just for the OS or the phone itself?

both
the phone was pretty good in features and overall

@user1306322 Trouble is that there's no way to distinguish signal from noise there. There are developing countries where people just don't know enough English or programming to ask a good question. There's also systematic time zone biases where certain time zones tend to produce better/worse questions based on score, but that's mostly spurious. And there's all sorts of other weird biases.

@LoganM the things you described… I'd love to see them in time graphs

10:29 PM
You probably could with data explorer

if only I could write that code
I still have no idea how that works

But I know for a fact SE employs people to do this stuff. They've probably done it better than we could hope to just with public data.

@LoganM that is such a helpful thing

I bet it's something superobvious but that syntax is totally new to me

you can technically reproduce an entire SE network just from those

10:31 PM
and die from the amount of terrible SO posts :D

@Prix Just the publicly available stuff in the database dumps. Doesn't include deleted posts, voting details, etc.

yeah but still is a good data source

who needs deleted posts anyway
copy only the good posts

for example one could make that entire thing viable in a different language

create the GoodOverflow

10:32 PM
If you want to study spam, you need the deleted posts.

rather than starting from scratch

and migrate all bad posts from SO to BadOverflow

LOL
or make a GoodXBadOverflow

a hentai manga

Would be more of a terror story
with deleted posts topics being actual people be it main cast or fillers

10:33 PM

@user1306322 more like corpse party

in about half hour those hotdogs gon be ready

that's one long making hot dog

2 hours waiting for the dough to defrost, after which some prepping and baking takes about an hour
I bet I could defrost it faster if I just put it in a microwave or something
maybe in a plastic bag and submerge it in hot water
I'm pretty new to cooking so I don't know all the cool tech and methods
I wonder if there are restaurant chefs and such over at the Frying Pan

microwave defrosting ?

10:38 PM
this site is about Anime and Manga, but it's not like any of us make it professionally

I don't recommend that

we're just fans, we watch and read

Most the stuff I defrost with microwave doesn't turn out OK

The best technique for cooking is to add garlic.

maybe they also just eat and drink :D

10:39 PM
Makes everything better.

@LoganM gotta agree with that
@Prix maybe you set it for too hot and too long

I usually use the preset time for defrost it comes programmed with it

does your microwave have an explicit "Defrost" button?

yes

ye inb4'd

10:40 PM

its like a snow drop icon
and you have 4 options
meat and 3x something else I don't recall
and you can also make a custom defrost but I am too lazy to read the manual
with the airfryer I hardly use mricowave these days

also also I just noticed that Taisho's pics haven't been getting as much stars since we swapped all of the unnamed imgur op's links to Logan's >.>

I prefer he doesn't get stars, honestly this way we can keep it to what we chat around here that are worth starring

but stars mean people really like it

I was thinking something about the images, we could host thumbs on imgur and with a link to the original size on logan's drive
this way we can have an online album if people wanted to see something they liked
and they could eventually request it like

10:43 PM
@Prix I don't think it's in our powers to change the chat code

#post idXXXX

you don't have to change the chat code for that
oh you mean set the link on the image?
mmm

well how else

mmm

10:45 PM
nah, it's not gonna work
oneboxing is pretty strict with images

meh

hah no, that's post syntax

meh

we're on comment syntax here

Need to make requests to SO
1) add actual code tags for chat

10:47 PM
they'll never do it the way they don't think of themselves

3) send images with other links
2) add actual quotes that can be seem as quotes

image section in starred messages would be really great
3
Q: Move onebox images to separate section in starred message list

user1306322We on Anime&Manga like images in chat, but we also like to still see relevant content in the starred chat message list. We just installed a chat bot that posts anime pictures from time to time and now our sidebar often looks like this: I know, it's not cool to star trivial messages, but we can...

@user1306322 if it was like that it would be really nice
instead of taking the stars places
it would be like a rollover album below the starred messages

Problem with that is that you'd then always need to load 5 or 6 images in chat. And unless they're going to take every starred message and upload it to imgur automatically, it would have to be full size.

it's doable with a script of some kind that would detect image links among the starred messages and convert them to an image n that fashion
but first convert it to a thumb on imgur!

10:52 PM
imgur won't even take big images

@LoganM they could just imgur a thumbnail and reference to the actual link/message as they have the permanent link option already

And a significant fraction of the stuff I have is over 4 MB.

then there's no easy way to make real thumbnails on the client side
each client would then have to create these thumbs for themselves
it'd be horrible
oh my head
no, let's talk about something nice and easy

meh

good and simple

10:54 PM
sad panda
@LoganM imgur is not the only out there

@Prix Yes but it's the one SE has decided to use

twitpic.com seems to be supported by SE does it have a limit on size or compress image?

I think it's also 4 MB
But I'm not sure what you mean when you say it's supported by SE. It works on SE sites, as should any image hosting service which allows hotlinking, but SE strongly prefers if you use their imgur account.

Q: Image does not work when oneboxed?

PrixImages are instantly rendered to the browser when properly sent on the chat, however if you send a oneboxed image, it will not render as it would normally. For instance the below will work as expected: http://site/image_with_proper_file_extension While this one: [http://site/image_with_prope...

support please
Since that is a bug :P we might actually get it fixed faster
and then we can do our own thing with the bots
grrr
yep nothing works.

11:15 PM

@LoganM it was on the meta that's what I meant, don't recall the context but I think was related

@Prix I don't think this is a bug. The ![]() syntax just isn't enabled in chat.

the ! does work

for example:

11:39 PM
wut
uh

@Prix I believe what's happening here is that it's still interpretting the full post, including the !, as a single URL. Google/imgur happens to deal with that URL by just stripping the ! and redirecting to the same site as with an ordinary https:// link. But chat isn't doing that, it's Google.

@LoganM if you take an image that does not have a image extension and use the ! it will work
that's why
however the syntax itself will not work.

Chat absolutely only oneboxes if the message consists of a single URL (optionally replying to a message). Anything else, e.g. the oneboxing of posts like chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/6697/maid-cafe- this should not onebox is a bug.
@Prix That's not chat doing anything special

that doesn't onebox

11:48 PM
needs http://

but if you add !
image not found :)
because of the !
see

No, it's not because of the !
It's because of the http:

it does have http:

The one with the ! doesn't work

no look, if I send chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/6697/maid-cafe- with http it will give you the link

 Maid Café (メイド喫茶)

Welcome back, my Master! (お帰りなさいませ、ご主人様!) Sit wherever you'd l...
however if I append an exclamation to it, it will be treated as an image:
they are both the very same link

11:51 PM
I'm pretty sure that's not chat doing any special parsing.

the ! is supposed to have it treated as something else not a link as described somewhere

But in any case I'm 100% sure that ![]() is not supposed to be supported in chat.

Not sure about "is" supported however that is what the ! should do

Why should it do that?

That was what the meta was describing about the ! functionality and was also one of the approved answers.
...
yay HTML doesn1t work either

11:56 PM
chat parses messages differently from both main site posts and comments.
That's by design, not a bug.

/wants to make that a bug and have it fixed haha
looks like some one up voted me regardless
even thought I'm getting smashed on the arguments.
