@Eric lol I don't even have that many questions and answers. I'm only 5th in terms of total posts, and 7th in terms of answers.

If I had more free time I could post more, but I've really cut back on anime in the past year or two. A few years ago I was watching as many as 30 shows per season, now I'm only watching one or two.

(I know that number sounds ridiculous. I wouldn't believe it either if I didn't count them myself)

@LoganM If we added 1666 answers and 1127 questions (based on 49 more of you), we'd have 27 questions per day. :D

Suddenly we're getting a lot of identification questions. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad trend.

I don't think it's either. Questions are good content, identification or otherwise.

@Eric The trouble with identification questions is that they really don't do much for our site (other than the OP). No one will find them via google, and once they're answered that's it. The only things they do are provide FGITW opportunities and nominally improve our stats.

@LoganM Actually, not many of our questions are hitting Google. It worries me a bit. I see your point with ID questions, and I would like variety, but I still like the idea of having as many questions as we can at this point.

I actually think that almost every single id-request is by definition, too localized. But they're interesting to have and keep.

More questions = better stats + more SEO (better stats) + more users (even if only 0.1 a day, or whatever)

Think of id-requests as the SO debugging service of Anime.SE.

It's a category of questions that we're very equipped to deal with. But it'd be sad if our site degraded to the point where most of the questions were identification requests. Over the past few days that's been most of the questions, though it's probably just a fad that will die down soon.

@Washu I knew the answer to that last one immediately after you said "Infinity Fortress" and I had considered GetBackers even before then, but just FYI if you Google search for "Infinity Fortress" you'd immediately get the right answer anyway. It's probably worth trying obvious things like that if you remember them before you ask here, because otherwise the question is just a race to see who can finish a Google search first.

@LoganM Perhaps at the chat-cast tomorrow we should talk about topics we'd like to see more of on the site. Not just specific anime, but types of questions.

I've got 6 episodes left in S;G but I've only had a couple questions from it. It would help if I had some ideas of what to ask, though.

Probably. We should get the mods input as to what kinds of questions are bringing in traffic. I know the Code Geass one apparently brought some Google traffic.

The Lelouch cart one? Yeah.

The problem with questions like that is that they're speculative.

I can probably think up several controversial questions from Evangelion 3.0, but that's bound to bring in non-constructive debate.

@Eric As far as I can tell my answer on that one is entirely factually based.

@LoganM Yes, I know, it worked out. But asking a question in the format of "Was X true?" where X is something not stated within the show itself can lead to speculation.

Mild speculation can be okay.

Maybe we should discuss what sort of speculation is okay.

Anyway I have to go. I have to grade lab reports and prepare to teach in 2 hrs. Today's lab has kids playing with high grade radiation sources, and if I don't make sure everything's properly set up I'll have people dying of cancer by the end.
