It seems that those of us who are frustrated by the interface at the U. Leicester's Historical Directories site can now search some of the directories at Find My Past and be frustrated by that search experience instead.

Okay, I spoke too soon about Find My Past's collection of directories that was added this week. "90 new volumes of late 19th and early 20th century street directories" -- for my area of interest, that includes directories from 1939, which ties in neatly with the 1939 Register.
IIRC the 1930 Kelly's directory is also new to me. The entries give population numbers from 1921 and 1931, presumably from the census, so you can see how the population declines over the decade for my place of interest.
