@ungestaltbar 6th...

So, basically view never connects to controllers or vice-versa?

right
You can also have view-models between your model and view layers too
depends on the complexity of your app...

@Sisir Try playing around with the Laravel framework as a standalone and get some experience there... you will learn a lot quickly.

5:40 AM
I was thinking to work with raw PHP only. Long time ago I was learning PHP then one day I start playing with WP. Now here we are..

WP will fuck your mind up as a developer... it's like saying jQuery is a language. No its not.

5:53 AM
@Sisir The View can update the Controller with a new status, but it doesn’t get data from it.

@toscho not according some I've argued with... apparently it can - L O L.

What the sitepoint article doesn’t mention: one controller can handle multiple views. It has to knwo when to call which view, and that information must come from the views

the request/route.

well, no, I mean something different.
Hard to explain in a chat window :)

explain your example so we don't confuse the two concepts

6:02 AM
One view can draw just the settings page frame: <form action …>, nonce, submit button. It doesn’t show the actual form field content, but it calls $this->controller->update( 'content' ); instead, and the controller calls the the next view(s) to create the form input fields.

yeah
ok now i get you

You have to separate the form input view classes from the settings page view class, because both should be reusable.

a little more work but if your app calls for it and is complex worth it in long run

For a more complex app, you don’t implement the update() in the controller; you use a mediator instead and let the controller register the view method to certain events.
like add_action(), but in OOP.

you both lost me, so, I will stick with basics for now..
Power interruption all morning :/ sometime I really have urge to get out of this country!

6:17 AM
or surge to get out...
why dont you leave? family? wife? other?

add_action( 'wp_head', 'disable_things', 20 );

6:31 AM
I’m having a conversation with a Chinese company. They write in English, but they add an automated German translation to each mail. The result is a mix of weird, overly devote or unfinished sentences. So much fun.

So they may as well have been writing in Chinese.

MVC on saturday morning? you people are unreal... :)

I MVC when I wake up and MVC just before I go bed, you know like you're supposed to brush your teeth.

you must be an expert on it then. write a blog post about that everyone will disagree with.

That's exactly what I want. To write something that no one will ever really agree upon. I have enough architectural debates with my current boss as it is... :)

spice of life
or toxic sludge of life

haha yeah latter sometimes

everyone agrees with jquery, and there are objects too.

9:04 AM
on current project I can architecture whatever I want, so it's all my fault too :)

@ungestaltbar meta-objects :)
@Rarst I bet you argue with yourself.

there was an interface tab in the initial spec, which called for Design_Tab class. now there are two tabs in interface, controlled by Design_Tab class.

sleepless Rarst, lost in endless discussion with himself

Do you Interface?

well, as long as it's not exploding mess detector...
no, no interfaces in it yet. I don't know them enough to be adding them in 1.x really

Comment threads show a choice between revealing all comments and directly adding a comment. The latter implies the former yet allows users to add a comment with one click.

Q: To whom do emails get sent via the Wordpress comments form?

Richard BI am working on a Wordpress 3.9.1 site, specifically the comments form. I have a copy of the site on my server and I want to test the form in the following three ways: Adding a new comment Replying to a comment Replying to a reply of a comment To do so, I want to be careful not to send man...

I just want to upvote that Q based on the correct use of "whom" rather than "who"

@StephenHarris You should. The English language is on its way to hell in a hand basket. Help save it while you can.

@userabuser demonstrated by me giving up on the word "question" after the first letter ;)

@StephenHarris Yeah but, we do whatever the fk we want here.

1:07 PM
We have to do something drastic to cultivate our language and to set us apart from the crowd.
Henceforth all our code shall rhyme.

... so the incoming questions with rhyme would be like: "I've got a very scary query because it's returning a ghost post" ;-)

My pagination doesn’t work, because I am a lazy dork.

;-)

1:29 PM
@toscho
$roses = '#FF0000';
$violet = '#0000FF';
if( $code == "poetry" ){
$code = ( $author == 'Woo' ? false : $code );
}

doesn’t rhyme!
Well, any attempt to write nice English dies with the first have_posts().

Yeah, you have to both the last line. "Author is not Woo". :/

2:00 PM
lol
let_me_inquire_as_to_whether_or_not_we_have_any_posts()
that would be better English version of have_posts()

This is really annoying.
