A sad day.. this Istanbul airport explosions..

@JonathanReez ordinarily resident = your visa was issued for a period of more than 6 months

Let's include all situations except "citizen of country A applying in country A"

there's normal residency and disproportionate, the two ways

well, there's travel and visas
say you travel to country to X as a visitor and your uncle dies in country Y and need a visa to go to Y, what now.

@GayotFow just get people to target all the unanswered bounty questions - let's leave no bounty unanswered!
@RoflcoptrException end of August! Sigh, jealous ;)

@JonathanReez whatcha doing? ;)

as if the Turkish tourism market wasn't already on the floor before this, it's going to be awfully hard to get tourists to go now

But the logical conclusion is that it isn't safe to go anywhere. If the premise is that a suicide bomber could walk up to an airport

I guess, but people judge risk when they're deciding where to go for a vacation because they don't like spending it feeling nervous
whether entirely rational or not

1:35 AM
I guess there's a lot of irrational stuff going on at the moment

One of my last bounties for the bonanza. This question has been unanswered for too long and should be answerable with some research, also partial answers should be fine. 300rep

Q: Legally drive a Canadian car in Central and South America for extended periods?

ItaiThere are plenty of accounts from people who are driving around South America or even from North to South (minding the gap of course) but I have not found any indication of what formalities they had to go through, if any. My Canadian car is registered in Canada with a Quebec license plate and I ...

@GayotFow You most definitely can. We have other waterproofing questions already. Make it
@GayotFow I tried enquiring with the mods about possible swag we could give away. Didn't get a reply.
@GayotFow I did not understand your idea about the 10k+users. Could you clarify?

I have posted an other bounty to the Mega bounty bonanza Q.
I did go for one with answers, as I find it frustrating to see bounties go to waste.
And I can do with a re-validation of those previous 2, as my name was entered instead of that of the validator

@mts Thanks

Q: Hastings Battlefield and the 'Right to Roam'

Gayot FowLater this year I will be guiding a tour of the "traditional" Hastings Battlefield. It will be a walking tour with about 5 - 7 clients. The route is pictured below... The starting point is shown with a pink star. I want the tour to start at the lay-by on the sunken road now called Powdermil...

I will get back to the waterproofing issue next time

I might be able to help with the waterproving one, I can not help with right to roam.
@GayotFow, thanks for the bounty on the blue maiden Q.

@Willeke you're welcome. Can I beg for an upvote on here, mine is the only answer that addresses the non-duplicated issue. travel.stackexchange.com/a/72459/32134

Q: What electronic items can I bring into the airplane cabin?

MOONI want to know what items are allowed into the airplane. I know that, for example, laptops and tablets are allowed. However, what about power bank/batteries or external hard drives? My question is about the electronic devices I can bring into the airplane.

too broad, right?

I would not say so, it is quite easy to link to websites that have lists of allowed or non-allowed items.

7:58 PM
it's kind of broad because of the international scope, different countries have different rules on some stuff
and airlines

@ZachLipton it is usually the other way around.. u have some electronic items and u want to figure out if its allowed or not..
its not like u know what's allowed first, then buy accordingly..

right, and you know where you are and what airline you're taking
it's possible you'd do that for power packs, want to buy one with a certain wattage with that in mind. but that's a specific device, not just all electronics
and most normal electronic devices are unrestricted, the main issues most people run into involve batteries and power packs not inside a device

@ZachLipton yes exactly.
the dangerous goods list that is prohibited worldwide is online.. just check ICAO or IATA sites.. but most of the items there are chemical..
