yo

2:36 AM
u've been busy with retagging - I feel guilty for having left you such a backlog.

hehe i was inspired when i had a few questions to ask. i decided it was now worth splitting of a specialized "tourist visas" tag since we have lots of questions now and the vanilla "visas" tag is so used

Ah! That explains the rather strange (for TSE rather than TSEmeta) travel.stackexchange.com/questions/52165/…
Can you clarify "other less common overlaps"?

4 hours later…
6:42 AM
@pnuts Comments cleaned up.

2 hours later…
9:03 AM
@Willeke yep. I had stopped for a while, happy with 100k and a round number of answers. sigh ;)

2 hours later…
11:05 AM
@JoErNanO Now that's a canonical! Warning was down to "Expires tomorrow" so I have released the bounty. Very well done. Let's have more the same.

11:39 AM
@pnuts anything for a bounty. :D
All jokes aside the next stop is the visa refusal question.
Since you guys say there are several refusal reasons I'm thinking we cold structure it like the meta SE FAQs: the question is broad and generic and contains a list of links to answers. Then each linked answer addresses one refusal reason.
@GayotFow ^^
If and only if there's scope for so many answers.

11:58 AM
AFAIK There are basically 13 possible rejection wordings, but usually 2 given, of which 1 (say master) is usually “leave the territory”. I believe @Gayot is only at present aiming to address master (may be the trickiest for being least ‘specific’), though in the process mentioning 3 of the other 12 by link to other answers (not yet written).
“Any 1 to 13 of 13” is too many combinations (IMO) for TSE but we are not supposed to dupe a Q that is different but has the same answer, so this attempts to work around that. Plan would be to add links to more of the other 12, once those are written.
So more-or-less as you suggest but recognising that it is very rare for only 1 reason to be given and that there is a master.
We can't dupe a Q as being partly answered 'here' and partly 'there' but might get away with fully answered by 'that' where 'that' includes links to other TSE answers.

@pnuts Thanks for clarifying.
I thought the reasons were things like "no proof of funds" or "no intent to leave". Is the latter the one being addressed by @GayotFow ?

"no proof of funds" is (at present) the third of the 3 subsidiaries.

12:19 PM
OK I get it.
And I like it.

12:34 PM
@JoErNanO good sir!
i do hope all is well

1:00 PM
@GayotFow I'm on my way to Helsinki.
So everything's good.
speak of the devil...
@pnuts And I were discussing your canonical up there.
Have a read.

"speak of the devil... @pnuts" I should flag this for a mod.

1:31 PM
@JoErNanO I hope you are well good sir. I would loath to be going to Helsinki in August, but there you go :)
A good customer..........
Brilliant advice from this site and we got our visa in three working days! @Gayot Fow, the advice on provenance really helped me do the paper work properly! — Radhika 14 mins ago
LOL
Everything was common sense, but don't tell the OP that :)

1:48 PM
@pnuts You guys were referring to the Schengen canonical?

To your draft (at least in my case!).
Or to Brussels luggage if you mean the one with the bonus.

2:05 PM
Hello from Oman!

You lucky *****. 'O' is one of the letters I am missing from my collection of country names.

Does Ostdeutschland counts?

Depends who you ask! - Long debates whether Vatican counts as 'H' :) but for me has to be English.
Nice try though.

2:43 PM
Does Zimbabwe have a "Collectionist Visa"?

What are they/is one of them??

2:57 PM
"Collectionist Visa"? I just made it up as the premise for somebody wanting to travel to Zim :)

I don't have a 'Z' in my collection but given the choices are Zambia or Zimbabwe I am using the excuse that I more-or-less started with 'A' to keep 'Z' to last.
Penny has only just dropped. Can I get entry to Zim purely on the grounds that I am missing a 'Z' from my collection? :)
Answer might be yes, and entry to a loony bin part of the offer.

@pnuts I think it is a wholly defensible reason. Also minimal risk of breach. Wholly sound, wholly defensible.
Were I in practice I would have no hesitation whatever in representing you.
The alternative is to dream up some crap premise that nobody will believe

3:22 PM
@pnuts, yep, I've been wanting 'O' for a long time now :) Just Y and V to go now (and X, but that doesn't really exist)
Muscat is currently '32C, feels like 48C'

@MarkMayo Vatican?

never been to Italy, let alone Vatican :)

3:44 PM
@MarkMayo Italy rocks good sir. Suggest immediate departure

1 hour later…
5:09 PM
你们好

5:51 PM
I'm saving it for later :)

6:21 PM
@GayotFow Yes we were talking about the visa canonical.
@MarkMayo Let me know when you decide to go to Italy. I'll take you to the best places .. He said in a soft but menacing voice ...
@downhand I'm in Helsinki. Wanna meet up?
@pnuts Spring-loaded are we? :P

7:12 PM
@JoErNanO Is it going to be of any use?
@JoErNanO I could be the guide for the north east corner, like Trentino and Trieste

2 hours later…
8:56 PM
@GayotFow Yes it will be of use. We need a clear answer to a popular question.

@JoErNanO I just marked a duplicate with about 90% overlap, let's see what happens

@GayotFow Is your canonical posted already?

no, still composing some of the underlying answers

Anyone know where I might find a microfiber travel towel in Helsinki? I forgot mine and the hostel ones are the size of a Kleenex!

@JoErNanO ok, somebody has answered the duplicate. bad sign

9:05 PM
@GayotFow That will always happen. It's all about having enough close voters acting fast enough.
Plus once we create a canonical covering most cases there'll be fewer doubts as to whether to close as duplicate or not.
See the UK transit visa for example.

@JoErNanO I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens

You're the hero we need but don't deserve. :)
A vengeful watcher.
VisaMan
Mhuahuahauahsususa.

9:24 PM
It would be good to get that sorted out and then get some INTERESTING QUESTIONS :)
Here's an interesting question............
