@GayotFow That's what we call "WANTA"
for "We are not a travel agent"
But that's not quite what was meant then, I mean this person wasn't asking what cities he or she should visit or these kind of things

12:41 AM
@Relaxed AH! Yes, from my perspective travel agents handled the invitation letter every time.
but I have had passport entry as a citizen into 18 time zones for a while now
and thus possibly out of touch with invitation letters like he wants
But even so, it's a poor question
He can purchase an invitation letter
I'm familiar with UK visa invitation letters intimately
where they analyse the font and the printer used etc etc
..... are you still here???
There we go again......
I end up sending messages in to an EMPTY ROOM

@GayotFow Dirty-flow voted to close it (and I did too)
But I guess what bothered him is that using the WANTA justification was confusing

1:27 AM
@Relaxed I understand the WANTA debate a little better now.
We Are Not Travel Agents = Off topic because their utility is scoped to a single person.
@Relaxed Also, I really thought you were going to answer the question from the Saffa in Wales. I didn't answer because I saw you edited the question and figured you would be along with an answer for him.

@RoflcoptrException no worries I knew you wouldn't let me down! :D
I just thought I'd remind the other mods before I forgot myself.
@MarkMayo 99% answered. We kick ass.
@GayotFow Nothing wrong with taking to yourself. That's how you get the best answers.

@JoErNanO we're improving. We had 150+ unanswered a few months ago, the answerathons have helped. a lot of sites have 100%. If we get to about 50ish, we should round to 100%.
@GayotFow yes, I saw, and I commented that you'll have trouble with copyrighted images

@Relaxed I gave it a shot, but the OP is really in a poor situation.
It's a double-edged sword because if he qualifies for the seaman's visa then it's an EXPAT question. But the question is about Schengen, so there's really a grey area.
He might be able to qualify for Schengen exceptionally as a supernumerary, but that's ALSO EXPAT :)
@MarkMayo Not a bad point.

Yes, I think so too
But then I was wondering about this seamen's visa thing, I knew it for merchant seamen (on freighters) and I am wondering whether it also covers service staff on cruises.
Not sure we should necessarily see it as an expat question, though
He is not trying to move to France long-term

3:59 PM
It's very grey area.

He would be working of course but already entertain business visitors, work-holiday visas, questions about working while backpacking, etc.
Well, “we” can decide, many people contribute on both sites and it's to some extent up to us what we want to do with them

I had on MULTIPLE occasions to get a client's girlfriend one when he was sailing on a yacht with his girlfriend. And the gf needed a visa to land in a European port.

Oh, you mean for the visa
And it worked?

He has to anchor outside the mooring area and raise the "Q" flag.
Yes, it always worked. Even for the UK. France, Italy, Greece, all the same
Once I had to get one when the client was flying and had to divert and land because of the weather. And his gf needed a UK visa.
In Europe they send an inspector out to the boat. He can't lower the flag and moor until everybody on board has a visa :)

4:25 PM
@MarkMayo While you are recovering, there is a 3 part documentary on Italy that is emphatically recommended by me. Emphatically. :)

Yeah, I just saw that our site won the Internet!

@RoflcoptrException We did what?

That makes no sense without context or explanation. :)
All I can think of browsing that site is that you can break the internet.

There is a new stack exchange game
where you have to pet a site from private beta over public beta until the site wins the Internet

8:51 PM
Trying to make some sense of the game.

Do you know Tamagotchi?
It's basically the same for SE sites

Yes yes I got two traffic hearts.

Three traffic.

@GayotFow I don't even know, myself. Almost everywhere I've gone with my parents, they've rented a car....but I've never been to Panama. How would you get around?

8:57 PM
@Shokhet Online forums say taxi.
To roam the cities.

I haven't done much research for that trip yet; it's (at the moment) not even certain yet
@JoErNanO I'm seeing the same in my Google search

9:39 PM
@Shokhet I went to the Miraflores locks to see the canal and then upwards to Gamboa and after that finally to Colon. All by taxi at comparably cheap. Another trip I went by taxi to La Yeguada and stopped at the park on the way back. That was about USD 100 with tip. I would be too worried about parking in the interior sites. And the most beautiful parts like Taboga you have to take a ferry anyway.
The Yeguada volcano is the most impressive destination in the interior, from my point of view. I am not too bad with Spanish, and that helps also.
All a matter of taste, I was just curious if you had a specific destination where a car was really necessary

@GayotFow Interesting....like I said before, I haven't done much planning for that trip yet...

More pole dancing clubs and lap dancing clubs in Panama than London, seems like anyway.
And a red-light district to rival Amsterdam in its go-go years

Interesting...haven't been to London or Amsterdam yet, either =0

If you were going to rent something in Panama and drive to Costa Rica, then I would say get a motorcycle.

How are the roads in Costa Rica?

9:53 PM
Terrible.

I googled a bit on Panama...most sites that discuss road quality say something along the lines of "They're great! (for Central America)"

The interamerican highway they mean, right?

I'm not sure....that's all they say. You think most roads aren't all that good?

Terrible. The road to the volcano was paved but terrible anyway. If you're talking about the interamerican highway or the roads running through the punta pacifica, that's fine
for about 20 miles :)
But whatever works for you :)

10:25 PM
@GayotFow miraflores? Lima??

@MarkMayo I've been in Miraflores Peru, but I was referring to the Locks on the Panama Canal called that name
It's sort of the in place to be if you want to see a huge ship going through
by the way, all my times in Panama were for business with holidays bolted on the end. I wouldn't go there as a pure tourist

Q: Where can I travel for prolonged periods of time while legally working remotely for a company in my home country?

CarlI found several questions about inbound travelers to the US in this scenario, but little about other countries: I work for a company in my home country (USA) who are open to me working remotely while traveling. Which countries allow me to legally work remotely for a company in my home country (...

too broad?
I'd love to go to Panama as a tourist :D
