Tomorrow we're going to attempt to reach Hachijō-jima, and if that goes well, take a ferry to Aogashima, the island with the smallest town in Japan, population around 170. The entire island is a volcano, with another one within. It doesn't even get a mention in the Lonely Planet OR the Rough Guide, so probably just going to be camping on the volcano at this rate ;)
Am excited, decided on this part of the journey several months ago based on a picture I saw while living in Australia
