@hippietrail I guess you are using a different google. The masks i get when searching for "masks" in google is this: i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2007/07_03/…
And using image search on the image your provide doesn't work either :(

9:15 AM
@andra this is my exact search. the image is now the first one but I don't think it was at the time I found it: google.com/…

@MeNoTalk damn :/ Still, it seems to be getting some traction, and some odd answers too.
Yeah the downvote thing - consider how many users we have a day now, it's fairly easy for downvotes to be more common these days i guess

12:14 PM
@andra me too! This week, Skype suspended my account, was weird.
am back on though, just had to change my password :(

12:37 PM
Possums are growling outside my window. It's a strange noise.

@andra Apparently he even died in Berlin (but I just looked it up to be honest)
It was more of an off-hand linguistic remark
It struck me as I noticed the article “Die” in front of “Mensch-Machine”
He spent some time in Leiden too
On a different note, I recently learned that “Abstand” and “Augenblick” were “Verdeutschungen” deliberately introduced to replace the latin-based words “Distanz” and “Moment”
Now I am wondering how “afstand” and “ogenblik” made their way into Dutch since they weren't part of the Germanic substrate common to both languages…

12:52 PM
Sounds interesting
I never heard that before

1:38 PM
yo dawgs
@Relaxed: i thought "eyeblink" for "moment" was common across the non-english germanic languages. interesting.

@hippietrail Simple translation of 'in the blink of an eye'
But I prefer the snappiness of Augenblick

@hippietrail And you are right too (just checked wiktionary)!
But “Augenblick” is also listed here: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp_von_Zesen
so either Wikipedia is wrong or the word really is a recent coinage and then somehow spread to other Germanic languages

@RoryAlsop: Are you saying the German word originated as a translation of the English phrase? Or just that the two mean the same thing?
