@stormy I know some people who do landscaping that use bump feed. I do want to try the 'pivotrim'. I like that the shield has a knife for the line, helps keep the lines even. But I have yet to have a problem with this bump feed. Its a expensive head though, which may be why it works so well. I have not had bugs meet the line (to knowledge) but...
Unfortunately dad a few years bad ran over a garden snake with the riding mower. Camouflage help them stay safe but, he didn't see it. A darn shame. I like snakes.

@Ljk2000 I love snakes...I used to have a Sonoran Gopher Snake. Never saw a snake that died of old age. His name was Tucson and for Halloween...I'd run around the little town I lived in with Tucson. I had a scarf and a wig and he'd come up under the back of my wig to poke out the front of my forehead...well I went into the grocery store, he did his thing and I swear....
...all the cashiers jumped up on their decks and hopped from deck to deck to the deli screaming. They did not think that was funny. Good grief. My son is a herpetologist! Big time with his own herd (20)? of pythons and snakes of Arizona. Even raises his own rats for food...
...the story you reminded me about the lawn mower...I was working on this property with this idiot gal as my employee when all of a sudden she was screaming her head off. You will not believe this, I still can not believe this. I went running over and she was babbling snake!! Snake!! I looked everywhere. She said it was huge and she had run over it. Unbelievable. I took the bag off and out came a completely unhurt huge snake. Must've been a gopher snake of some sort. And swam off.
@Ljk2000 You must have a very good one then! If it works don't fix it!! I hated installing the line on the spools and there was never a time something didn't go wrong. And I could never deal with that shield. Have you tried the 'fine tuning' of your lines on concrete after your bump and go and shield have made the lengths of your line? You can tell if they aren't perfect by the sound...the revs will go up if not perfect. Be interesting...
@JonEricson Hi there Jon! Are you new around here?

6:02 PM
@stormy Not entirely. But I don't hang out here as much as I used to.

Well, howdy anyway and I think I remember your moniker, did you change your picture? Do you hang out on another site more than this one?
How is your garden this year?

6:20 PM
@stormy I'm on a lot of sites now that I'm a CM. ;-) My garden is sadly neglected this year. I've been a bit busy. :-(

@stormy The snake survived her mower! That is truly neat. The one dad hit was a smaller one and and yet still got chopped. Some nice stories, I do like sharing stories. I learned with the bump feed that I have you do not remove the spool. It is supposed to be a quick load head. When I did take the spool out and wrap it had nothing but problems. But doing it the way the instructions said, which is through the holes (were the line comes out) and then there is another hole in the spool. Goes...
Through there and out the other end. Then you just turn the head. It did get stuck once but all I have to do is pull gently. Very nice system. My mom had a python and I was little. Will share story later bus is here... :)

Q: What is this tiny blue/purple flower in Charles City, Virginia?

DianeThis tiny blue/purple flower is growing in my friend's meadow in the Richmond area of Virginia in the eastern USA. The leaves that go with the flower are the three-leaved ones. She says it has roots (not corms or bulbs).

@stormy So the short story is when I was little we had this python. She was a very nice snake and would hang around on you and just relax. One day I was holding her while sitting on the couch and then I fell asleep. Next thing I know she was gone. 3 days later we end up finding her in the laundry basket in the basement.

@Ljk2000 That is a wonderful end to your story, my Tucson disappeared when we were moving and I was so distraught. A few days later I saw snake poop/piss and found him in a huge pile of sawdust! He had hidden in this old saguaro cactus skeleton my daughter gave me. Had no idea. Happiness!! Tucson bit me once...I pointed my finger at him and by golly I knew he was going to bite!
@Ljk2000 Things have most certainly changed in a decade...that bump and go sounds very nicely built. That might have changed my attitude big time!
