It has been pointed out to me that one cannot freely conjugate the final する after the ~たり~たり construction. For example, instead of saying Aたり、Bたりさせる、 one has to say Aさせたり、Bさせたりする. Is there a linguistic reason why this is the case?
Hmm. You can certainly conjugate to some degree (しない、して、etc.). As for させる, I think I personally would always put it on the inner verb(s) though -- it feels better there to me for some reason. I'm not sure whether it being on the outside is ungrammatical or not.

I mentioned this a while ago, but I was interested to learn that the potential of 〜たりする can be 〜たりできる or 〜たりができる
